Record large audio files to disk, size limited only by the operating system and file format. (WAV files have a 2Gb size limit, approximately 200 minutes of CD quality audio per file, but number of files limited only by the available hard disc space). All soundcards are supported from 8 bit to 24 bit with sample rates from 6KHz to 192KHz in mono or stereo.
Soundcard mixers can be manually configured from within the application, or you can have Audiotools set it up for you using the Auto-ear feature.
Record files in .WAV (PCM and ACM), .WMA, .WMV, .RM, .OGG, .AU, .AIFF and MP3 formats (MP3 requires either the LAME, Gogo or Fraunhoffer plugin). Transparent audio conversion ensures that you don't have to worry if your recording format is compatible with the limitations of the encoder - so you can record straight from a 96KHz/24-bit soundcard directly to MP3.
Burn audio CD's on most ASPI compatible CD writers. Support for track at once or disc at once recording.
Use other command line encoders such as Blade or TwinVQ directly from the application.
Automatically split into separate tracks using Auto-track silence detection mechanism, user-defined chunk sizes or under direct user control with the track button.
Precision manual control splitting of pre-recorded material using audition mode with soft-cue or the waveform mode. Extremely powerful visual edition allows you to selectively keep, discard or compress sections of a recording.
Paint out clicks and pops manually using the soft-paint feature in either Soft-cue or Waveform modes. Apply audio processing such as noise reduction, fades and equalisation directly to audio selections in Waveform mode.
Plugin architecture for file types, audio processing, skin controls and application extensions. Plugins supplied include:
Wizards for basic recording, scheduled recordings and file conversion.
Download agent to keep you up to date with the latest developments. A file browser to help you examine audio files on your hard disc.
Gain, metering, parametric and graphic equalisers, noise reduction (LMS and denoise), gain levelling (leveller and normalize), conversion between mono and stereo, noise gating, stop recording on specified period of silence, fades, sample rate conversion, speeding up and slowing down, padding, clip detection, dc bias adjustment, band pass filtering, phono pre-amp eq, reverb. A developer's kit for your own plugins is provided on the website.
Support provided for DirectX/DirectShow audio plugins.
Plugins can be organised into convenient profiles to provide a simple means of performing repetitive tasks.
Audiotools can be scripted with Javascript or VBScript or automated externally with Visual Basic, Delphi or other COM compliant languages.
Skins can be created to change the look and functionality of the program. A fully-fledged graphical skin designer is available to make this task easy.
