Chester bennington خواننده گروه Linkin Park بطور رسمی پروژه‌ی جانبی‌اش یعنی گروه Dead by Sunrise را اجرا خواهد کرد. این گروه قرار است آلبوم اولش را بنام Out of Ashes پاییز امسال منتشر کند.
این گروه، شامل ‏Ryan Shuck و Amir Derakh اعضایی از گروه دهه‌ی ۹۰ بنام Orgy و گروه الکترو-متال بنام Julien-K می‌شود [در صفحه‌ی ویکی پدیای Amir Derakh نوشته که او یک موزیسین آمریکایی، ایرانی‌تبار است.] داستان شکل‌گیری این گروه برمی‌گردد به وقتی که گروه Linkin Park در حال انجام مراحل مقدماتی برای ضبط آلبوم Minutes to Midnight بود.
‏Chester bennington در مورد تشکیل گروه Dead by Sunrise در بیانیه‌ای گفته:
من به فکر آهنگ‌ها و ایده‌هایی افتادم که واقعاً خوب بنظر می‌رسیدن اما این‌جور آهنگ‌ها با ادبیات ‏Linkin Park جور در نمی‌آمد. آن‌ها تاریک‌تر و خشن‌تر از تمام ایده‌هایی بودن که من تا بحال برای Linkin Park مطرح کرده‌ام.
Warner Bros، کمپانی ناشر آثار این گروه هنوز تاریخ مشخصی را برای انشار آلبوم Out of Ashes اعلام نکرده و فقط در اطلاعیه‌ای گفته است که “انتشار آلبوم فعلاً برای پاییز امسال برنامه‌ریزی شده است.” در حال حاضر می‌توانید Chester bennington و بقیه‌ی اعضای گروه را در موزیک ویدئوی جدیدشان بنام “New Divide” از Soundtrack فیلم Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen تماشا کنید.
“Morning After” اسم آهنگی از گروه ‏Dead by Sunrise است که در Soundtrack فیلم Underworld: Evolution در سال ۲۰۰۶ منتشر شد و هم‌اکنون در صفحه‌ی My-Space گروه قابل پخش است. این آهنگ بطور قطع نسبت به تمام کارهای Linkin Park آهنگی است که بیشترین تمایل و جهت‌گیری را به شیوه‌ی electronic را دارا است، و دارای عناصری از آهنگ‌های قدیمی Rob Zombie و تمایلاتی به شیوه‌ی Keyboard گروه‌های راک بریتانیایی مثل Placebo و Muse دارد.
‏Mike Shinoda در تاریخ February 4, 2009 در وبلاگش نوشته: “با Chester بیرون بودم و فرصتی پیدا کردم تا کار‌های جدیدش رو بشنوم، آهنگ‌هایی که شما تا بحال نشنیده‌اید. او بصورت همزمان دو کار انجام می‌دهد، کار بروی آلبوم جدید Linkin Park و آلبوم گروه Dead by Sunrise. این آلبوم قرار است توسط Howard Benson تهیه‌کنندگی شود.”
