Learning vocabularies through Etymology

Hi m8

Here i think we really need a topic abt ethymology and it's use in English

In English as u know words usually consist from little parts which mean different from word's one

So i had a consultation with Archi-girl and decided to create this topic with purpose of increasing ur inf. and mine inf. abt words and their parts in English

با اجازه فارسیشو هم بگم شاید یه نفر حوصله انگلیسیشو نداشت و باخوندن این علاقه مند بشه همونطوری که میدونین توی اکثر زبان ها معمولا کلمات از چند بخش تشکیل میشن که به تنهایی هرکدومش یک معنی میده انگلیسی هم از این قاعده مستثنی نیستش هدف از ایجاد این تاپیک اینه که به کمک اشخاصی که اطلاعاتی در این زمینه دارن کلمات رو تجزیه کنیم به امید اینکه با این تاپیک یه فعالیت مفیدی کرده باشم

first let me present my own info about etymology


as you know there are two millions and two hundred thousand words in English language

and this is for sure that by learning Etymology you will cover 6o percent of the words of dictionary

so, by learning the stems and prefixes and suffixes of the language ,which is the meaning of Etymology,

you will be able to guess the meanings of unseen words so much easily

I will inshallah participate in this topic

I think here we need to give an example

e.g. the word of decriminalization

de/crimin/al/iz(e)/-tion

de is opposite maker

crimin in Latin means crime

al is adjective maker

ize is verb maker

and finally -ion is noun maker

We ethmoloized "decriminalization" and with this kind of words which consist some part's we can increase our inf. abt english easily

2.inhume>>> in means in so inhume means put in soil or simply means bury
3.exhume>>> ex means out, exhume means pull out of the soil. it exactly means pull a corpse out of a grave,

Late Latin coordination-, coordinatio, from Latin co- + ordination-, ordinatio arrangement, from ordinare to arrange

i thought that this topic would fascinate u but it didn't

actually I'm a big fan of Etymology and even have a good topic in another forum ...

anyway , I just wanted to say that if no one posts anything , doesn't mean that no one likes it ... sometimes you must continue a topic for weeks before others feel like to contribute .. (own experience)
