Start with a sketch, drawing, physical model, scan data, or only an idea—Rhino provides the tools to accurately model and document your designs ready for rendering, animation, drafting, engineering, analysis, and manufacturing or construction.
Rhino can create, edit, analyze, document, render, animate, and translate NURBS curves, surfaces, and solids with no limits on complexity, degree, or size. Rhino also supports polygon meshes and point clouds. Rhino offers:
* Uninhibited free-form 3-D modeling. Tools like those found only in products costing 20 to 50 times more. Accurately model any shape you can imagine.
* Extreme precision. Design, prototype, engineer, analyze, document, and manufacture anything of any size no matter how small or how large.
* Unrestricted editing. Revise freely without concern about how you got there or where you want to go next.
* 2-D drafting, annotation, and illustration. In addition, flatten 3-D surfaces into 2-D patterns and drive laser, plasma, and water jet cutters.
* Large project organization. Work with both large models and large teams.
* Compatibility. Exchange files with your other design, drafting, CAM, engineering, analysis, rendering, animation, and illustration software.
* File read and repair. Fix extremely challenging IGES and mesh files.
* Direct connection. Support for wide variety of 3-D digitizing arms, 3-D scanners, and 3-D printers.
* Customization. Easy-to-use tools let both you and software developers make Rhino fit your special needs.
* Short learning curve. Focus on design and visualization without being distracted by the software.

What's New, SR4b (27-Aug-2008):
-Bug Fixes-
* Crash when closing the Options dialog box has been fixed.
* Divide: The DivideByLength option did not work properly on closed curves. This is fixed.
* Export SAT: the correct unit system is now saved in SAT files. This makes it possible to read Rhino's SAT files into other applications and have them maintain the correct size.
* Installer: deploying Rhino 4.0 SR4 with Ative Directory or SMS resulted in "Error 1606. Could not access network location empty." This is fixed in the SR4b installer.
* Open

WG/DXF: Display of very large polyline on import did not work correctly. This is fixed.
* Open:zpr: A problem opening zpr files has been fixed.
* Recently used commands: Commands repeated from the recently used list, then repeated again with Enter, started the command previous to the current one. This is fixed.
* ShadedViewport: In a shaded viewport, objects behind another object that is set to Wireframe mode are not pickable.
* SmartTrack now pays attention to Project setting in the Osnap toolbar. That should help in this case when Project setting is enabled.
* Zoom Window/Dynamic: Were not completely canceled by ESC. This is fixed.

* 200 MB disk space.
* 512 MB RAM. 1 GB or more is recommended.
* OpenGL graphic card recommended.
* IntelliMouse recommended.
* 3-D digitizer optional.
* 3-D printer optional.
-Operating systems-
* Rhino 4.0 runs only on Windows 2000, XP Pro, XP Home, and Vista* including an Intel Mac with BootCamp or Parallels.
*Vista requires Rhino 4.0 Service Release 1 or above.
* Rhino 4.0 will not run on Windows NT, 95, 98, or ME.
* Native Windows x64 is not supported and will not be until the required development tools and libraries are available. There will be a free service release available as soon as possible after 4.0 ships. Rhino 4.0 does run as a 32-bit application on Windows x64.
* Rhino 4.0 does not run natively on Mac OS X, but it is under development. Details...
* Rhino 4.0 does not run natively on Linux, or any other operating system not listed above.
