It is the time of the year for the new editions of the sports games and 2010 will be the first time Gameloft and EA fight out their traditional battle to gain the top of the table on the App Store.

We've already had a hands on with FIFA 10.

And now Gameloft has announced details of Real Football 2010.

The big news is the real-time online multiplayer which works via globally via Wi-Fi or locally by Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. This will hook into Gameloft's LIVE! social networking technology. You can play official matches to improve your ranking in the game.

Gameloft will support transfer news with regular updates to the game's player database, and there's an RSS newsfeed built into the menu so you'll always know what the latest scores are.

Another addition is the option to upload your replays direct to YouTube. You'll also be able to rate other people's videos at Real-Football.com.

Getting down to game features, the controls have been improved with a more precise virtual D-pad and the option to select a player by just tapping them.

There will be 8 leagues, 14 stadiums, 245 teams and real players' names thanks to the FIFPro license, and TV-like in-game commentary.

Finally, new modes include;

Enter The Legend, in which you play as your favourite player during the whole match and manage their career as a pro football star,

Club Master, which is more of a management role where you take part in a whole season with your favourite team and strengthen it through trades,

And RF League, which uses the online leaderboard to compare your performance with other players over the world.

Looking like another strong season for Gameloft's outfit then.

Ubisoft in collaboration with Advanced Mobile Applications has announced Shaun White Snowboarding Origins for the iPhone. The game exploits both 3D graphics and touch controls, taking players to destinations around the world including Chile, Japan, Spain and the USA. Players can choose from four different characters to snowboard with, each with their own unique control, trick or speed specialties.

Game modes include one freestyle option, and three that make use of a ghost feature. Ghosts are recordings of previous sessions, which can be played against personally or sent to friends for wider competition. Other online features include a leaderboard, and Twitter and Facebook connections which can be used to compare progress.

Some 50 tricks can be pulled off, including ollies, flips and grabs, with help from a tutorial by White to get players started. Accomplishing certain feats earns achievements and unlockable content, such as real-life snowboarding footage. The iPhone version of Origins is set to release sometime in December, following the launch of a Wii edition.

Last night was somewhat of a big release night with both Modern Combat Sandstorm multiplayer and Chronicles of Inotia 2 being released. CoI2 is a game we’ve had some hands-on time with, and found it to be one of the best RPGs ever to set foot onto the iPhone.

Com2us is arguably one of my favorite developers, bringing to us Baseball Sluggers, Chronicles of Inotia, and Sniper Vs. Sniper. While all of them are quite sophisticated, our writer Jeff deems the second version of Chronicles of Inotia as something “we’ve never seen before”.

With an online match up mode and over 200 quests to complete, CoI 2 shouldn’t be short on content. Along with that, you have the choice of 5 different classes: the priest, knight, magician, templar, and thief.

We should have a review up for this sooner or later, but for now, check out the screenshots and our hands-on preview. $7.99 may be steep for a lot of people, and we’ll post up some quick impressions once we’ve had some thorough hands-on time.

In a far future, mankind is extinct and Earth is populated by several tribes of speaking, human-like animals, living in a medieval world.
Rif of the Fox Tribe has traveled far from home with his companion Rhene to compete in a puzzle contest. The night before the contest someone steals the wondrous Orb of Storms, an ancient relic of the Humans, and Rif is accused of being the thief. Rif is able to convince his accusers to give him a chance to find the real thief and recover the Orb. Two warriors are assigned to assist and guard Rif in his quest, Eeah of the Elk Tribe and Okk of the Boar Tribe. In addition Rhene is held hostage by the Boar King to ensure Rif does not try to escape.
Your goal is to guide Rif on his adventure, find clues to locate the real thief, and solve challenges along the way. You can have Rif talk to Okk, Eeah, and other Morph characters that are encountered during Rif's travels. Rif can pick-up items he finds and give these items to others. Some will only trade information for precious items, although what a Morph considers precious can vary greatly.
With your help, Rif will be able to clear his good name and rescue his beloved!
