سازمان مسئول توسعه استاندارد PCI-Special Interest Group) PCI-SIG) به تازگي خبري در مورد انتشار مشخصات استاندارد PCI Express 2.0 و ارايه آن به شرکت هاي عضو در اين سازمان جهت انجام آخرين آزمايشات و نقد و بررسي ها نموده است. اين نسخه از سوي موسسه استاندارد PCI-SIG نسخه RC 0.9 نامگذاري گرديده و به اين ترتيب احتمالا همين نسخه به عنوان نسخه نهايي و استاندارد ارتباطي PCI-E خواهد بود. از جمله تغييراتي مهمي که در اين نسخه در مقايسه با نسخه قبلي يعني PCI Express 1.1 مشاهده مي شود، افزايش نرخ سرعت انتقال اطلاعات به 5GT/s يا 5 گيگاهرتز در برابر نرخ سرعت 2.5GT/s نسخه 1.1 آن و همچنين سازگاري کامل با نسخه هاي قبلي مي باشد. همچنين تلاش هايي براي بهبود لايه نرم افزاري اين پروتکل که بيش از سه سال از معرفي آن مي گذرد توسط اين سازمان انجام شده است.

در ادامه مشخصات اين نسخه براي يک دوره 60 روزه نقد و بررسي در اختيار شرکت ها و مهندسان قرار گرفته است، توضيحاتي در مورد تقويت ارتباط کابلي اين نسخه تا طول 10 متر و حداقل نرخ انتقال اطلاعات 2.5GB/s مشاهده مي شود. همچنين بهبود ارتباط و بهينه سازي سيستم آدرس دهي ATS يا Address Translation Services و اشتراک گذاري آدرس ها نيز از جمله تغييرات اين نسخه به شمار مي رود.

پيشبيني مي شود استاندارد جديد PCI Express 2.0 بين 3 تا 6 ماه آينده وارد عرصه کامپيوتر هاي شخصي شود.

و جالبتر اینه که فقط شرکت gecube هست که به صورت اختصاصی محصو لات ati رو در تایوان میسازه و اکثرا نوکران nvidia میباشند
حالا چرا این chip تایوان هست جای بسی بحث است
و جالبه بدونید که اکثر شرکت های توسعه دهنده ati در هنگ کنک زندگی میکنند
