If you already have TrueCrypt installed on your system, it must be version 4.1.
Initial Setup
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Warning: Backup your current USB drive!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Delete everything from your current USB drive.
Extract USBApps.zip to your USB drive.
Explore your USB drive.
Setup an encrypted partition to secure sensitive files.
Double click on TrueCrypt.
Click "Create Volume" button to start TrueCrypt Volume Creation Wizard.
Click "Next" at the first screen (this will create a standard TrueCrypt volume).
In Volume Location, type "X:\files.tc" Where X: is the volume letter for your thumbdrive and then click Next. (i.e. If your thumbdrive is mounted as the G: drive, type G:\files.tc)
Select your Encryption Options and then click Next. (If you don't know what to do, just accept the defaults)
Input a Volume Size. This has to be smaller than the remaing free space on your thumbdrive.
Select a Volume Password. (Make sure it is a STRONG password that you won't forget)
On the Volume Format screen, leave the defaults and select Format.
When it is done, it will tell you. Just click OK and then Exit.
Create a folder on your C: drive called USBBackup (if you want to use the backup feature).
Usage
If you have Windows XP Service Pack 2, when you insert your drive into a USB port, it will prompt you for a password. This password is the one you specified when you created the TrueCrypt volume during the initial setup. If you enter the password correctly, it will mount your encrypted volume as the Q: drive. (Make sure you dismount the volume before you unplug your drive)
To access the advanced features of this flash drive setup, right click on the drive in the the My Computer window.
TrueCrypt Mount - This will attempt to mount the encrypted volume you created as the Q: drive. This is included in case Autorun is turned off or you don't have WinXP SP2.
TrueCrypt Backup - This will backup your Q: drive (if you have it mounted) to C:\USBBackup.
TrueCrypt Dismount All - This will dismount any and all encrypted volumes.
TrueCrypt Start - If you want to manually mount or dismount encrypted volumes.
PStart - Launches PStart (see below)
Explore - If you want to browse the contents of your flash drive.
Extra Security
If you want to be a little more cautios, you can run some of the apps from the encrypted partition you created. This will allow you to store favorites and profile settings in the encrypted files.tc you created above. To do this follow these steps:
Make sure your files.tc has been mounted to the Q: drive. If it isn't, right click on your flash drive in Explorer and select TrueCrypt Mount and mount the partition.
Make sure PStart is not running.
Move the folder called PortableApps from the root of your flash drive to the Q: drive.
Rename PStart.xml to PStartBackup.xml.
Rename PStartSecure.xml to PStart.xml.
Now when you want to launch the portable versions of Firefox, Gaim, Opera, OpenOffice, FileZilla, Thunderbird, Sunbird, AbiWord or NVU, you must have your encrypted Q: drive mounted.
PStart
PStart is a great little application that makes it easy to launch all of these apps from your USB drive. Once you start PStart you can access it via a popup from its systray icon. It functions as a second start menu just for your USB apps. You can also save short notes on the Notes tab. The PStart included with the USB apps I have assembled is already configured to launch most of the apps.
AcroPad
AcroPAD is a simple Notepad-like program with PDF production capability. Handy for quick generation of simple PDF documents.
EssentialPIM

Media Player Classic looks like Windows Media Player V6.x, but it is not a me-too application. Beneath its classic look lies an extremely powerful media player. You can configure keyboard commands, configure/reorder/disable codecs/filters etc. And it is one of those rare media players that provides native support for Unicode, so you will be able to load music or video files with Japanese, Chinese or Korean filenames easily, and view them in the playlist.

mp4UI is a utility for viewing and creating MP4 files. MP4 files are ISO compliant MPEG-4 streams with AAC audio. You are able to edit file/track properties and metadata, as well as import/export individual audio/video tracks.

STOIK Capturer
Stoik Capturer captures video from your DV camcorder directly to AVI or WMV. It is able to split capture file automatically by size. You can also output DV AVI to your DV camcorder with the help of this program.
VirtualDub
VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility. It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is great for video capture and transcoding via third-party video codecs. It can also read MPEG-1 video files.
VLC
VLC (initially VideoLAN Client) is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.
WinDV
WinDV is a small utility for capturing videos from DV device (camcorder) into AVI-files and for recording AVI-files into DV device via FireWire (IEEE 1394) interface. Capturing is very reliable thanks to use of large buffer queue. Timestamps recorded on DV tape by camcorder can be used to automatically split captured video into multiple files. During transmitting to DV, several AVI-files can be joined together to form final video recording.
winLAME
winLAME is an encoder for WAV, MP3 and OGG. It lets you set up the encoding process with an easy-to-use wizard-style user interface, with support for batch processing of multiple audio files.
XnView
XnView is an image viewer and converter that supports more than 400 graphics format. It has tons of options you can tweak. My favorite is to enable caching so that thumbnails are cached in a temp folder of my choice (unlike some image viewers that insist on writing the cache file to every image folder that you access).

CyberShredder
CyberShredder erases confidential files from your computer permanently. Normal file deletion will remove a file's directory entry and allocation table information. The actual disk clusters that contained the file's data remains intact on your hard disk and can be recovered later. CyberShredder overwrites the space occupied from a file with random data and erases the file, so an unerase utility will never be able to recover it. It has three different methods of deleting files including the NSA approved seven-pass file deletion method.
eXpress CheckSum Calculator
eXpress CheckSum Calculator is great for verifying the integrity of files downloaded from the Internet. Similar utilities install new shell menus and/or tabs, which I dislike, because experience have shown that badly written shell utilities will make Windows Explorer less stable. Why sacrifice system stability when you can use small, simple utilities like these instead?
KeePass
KeePass is a password manager that helps you manage your passwords in a secure way. You can put all your passwords in one database, which is locked with one master key or a key-disk. So you only have to remember one single master password to unlock the whole database. The databases are encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known (AES and Twofish).
Omziff
Omziff is an encryption utility that uses various cryptographic algorithms to encrypt and decrypt textual files. These algorithms include: Blowfish, Cast128, Gost, IDEA, Misty1, Rijndael, and Twofish. It also generates random passwords, splits files, and offers simple file shredding.
privyCrypt
privyCrypt is a small program that is designed for encrypting email before transmission across networks. It relies on a shared private key for encryption/decryption.
Rootkit Revealer
RootkitRevealer is a rootkit detection utility. It detects registry and filesystem API discrepancies that may indicate the presence of a user-mode or kernel-mode rootkit.
TrueCrypt
TrueCrypt creates virtual encrypted disks within a file and mount it as a real disk. It can also encrypt an entire hard disk partition or a device, such as USB memory stick, floppy disk, etc. It supports a full range of encryption algorithms, including AES-256, Blowfish (448-bit key), CAST5, Serpent (256-bit key), Triple DES, and Twofish (256-bit key).

Babble Deluxe is a puzzle game. The game board contains 25 random letters arranged in a 5 x 5 grid. The goal of the game is to find as many words as possible within the time limit. You can play alone for the highest score or play against one of the computer players.
Bricks
Bricks2000 is a tetris clone. Throughout the game, various types of "bricks" fall from the top to the bottom of the playing area. When the bricks form a solid row of blocks across the playing area, that row vanishes.

Gem Drop X
Gem Drop X is a fast-paced puzzle game where it's your job to clear the screen of gems before they squash you. You're at the bottom, they're at the top, and they keep coming! You grab gems (up to 10) of the same color and use them to knock more gems off the screen. Match 3 or more of the same color in a column and they explode. Any adjacent gems of the same color also explode, causing a chain reaction that might cover the entire screen. The more gems that disappear with one shot, the higher the score you get.

Mega Mario is a Super Mario Bros clone. It features everything in the original game, but now comes with better graphics, higher resolution, smoother movement and new levels.
