Kim Cattrall has confirmed there will be a S*ex And The City movie sequel - with filming scheduled to begin as early as next summer.

The actress, who played maneater Samantha Jones in the hit U.S. TV series, was the last of the original core cast - which included Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis - to agree to star in the big-screen adaptation.

Earlier this year, Parker alluded to the possibility of a sequel to the blockbuster, promising that she and writer/director Michael Patrick King would "have that conversation (about a sequel) sooner rather than later".

And, speaking to pop star Melanie Brown in a U.K. TV interview on Tuesday, Cattrall revealed that a follow-up is indeed in the pipeline.

She told the former Spice Girl: "Yes, there will be a sequel. We will do the sequel next summer.

"We wanted to (film) the first time, and now we're hopefully doing it again for the second time."

However, she added that it was "difficult getting everybody who's so incredibly busy all together at the same time".

The movie S*ex And The City stormed international box offices after its May release, grossing more than $391 million (GBP211.4 million) worldwide.l

Charlize Theron's mother has filed for divorce from her second husband - just three years after they tied the knot.

Gerda Theron has cited "irreconcilable differences" in court documents to separate from her unnamed spouse.

According to reports, the actress whisked her mother away to a luxury resort in Mexico for a vacation filled with non-stop pampering to get over the recent split.

The break-up comes nearly two decades after the actress witnessed Gerda shoot her abusive father dead in an act of self-defence, when the Monster star was just 15 years old.

Police pressed no charges in the incident, which South African-born Theron has credited with bringing the two closer.

Theron has said of their relationship: "(We are) friends from way back because we were the only ones there for each other". l

Oprah Winfrey is helping Jennifer Hudson mourn the loss of her mother, brother and young nephew by hiding the actress out at her luxury Chicago, Illinois apartment.

Hudson dashed back to her home city on 24 October after learning her mum Darnell and brother Jason had been found shot dead at the family's home on Chicago's south side.

Her sister Julia's son Julian, seven, was abducted from the scene and found dead in an abandoned SUV across town just three days later.

The devastated Dreamgirls Oscar winner has stayed in the city since, under the watchful eye of Winfrey.

A source tells America's Star magazine, "Jennifer has been staying at Oprah's East Lake Shore Drive condo. There's plenty of privacy and security there." l

Hollywood director Steven Spielberg is leading the tributes to Jurassic Park author and filmmaker Michael Crichton, who died in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Crichton, who also wrote --- thriller Disclosure and co-created hit TV series ER, lost his battle with cancer at the age of 66.

Spielberg helped to adapt Jurassic Park for the big-screen in 1993, and the star, who was a close pal of Crichton's for 40 years, has hailed the author as a great talent.

He says, "Michael's talent out-scaled even his own dinosaurs of Jurassic Park.

"He was the greatest at blending science with big theatrical concepts, which is what gave credibility to dinosaurs again walking the Earth. Michael was a gentle soul who reserved his flamboyant side for his novels. There is no one in the wings that will ever take his place."

ER executive producer John Wells has also expressed his thoughts about the loss of such an "exceptional" man.

He says, "(Crichton) was an extraordinary man. Brilliant, funny, erudite, gracious, exceptionally inquisitive and always thoughtful.

"No lunch with Michael lasted less than three hours and no subject was too prosaic or obscure to attract his interest. Sexual politics, medical and scientific ethics, anthropology, archaeology, economics, astronomy, astrology, quantum physics and molecular biology were all regular topics of conversation." l

Movie heartthrob Antonio Banderas is set pick up a brush and easel and play Salvador Dali in a new biopic of the Spanish surrealist artist.

Con Air filmmaker Simon West is onboard to direct the movie - which will blend music with CGI to capture Dali's "inventiveness and colour", reports Daily Variety.

The newspaper claims Banderas is in "final negotiations" to play his compatriot, who died in 1989 at the age of 85.

The project, due to begin shooting in early 2009, is one of three Dali biopics in the works.l Al Pacino will play him in Dali + I: The Surrealist Story, and Rob Pattinson will star in Little Ashes.l

Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg and America's next president Barack Obama have a sibling connection - their right hand men are brothers.

On Thursday Rahm Emanuel accepted the position of Chief of Staff in Obama's administration and will assume his position when Obama is sworn into power on 20 January (0).

Emanuel's brother, Ari, is Wahlberg's agent - the man who inspired the character of Ari Gold in hit TV show Entourage.

Ari isn't the only brother with small screen ties - Rahm worked in the White House under former President Bill Clinton, and is rumoured to have inspired Bradley Whitford's character Josh Lyman in TV show The West Wing. l

Drew Barrymore's new British toyboy Ed Westwick has signed on as the new face of footwear brand K-Swiss.

The 21-year-old Gossip Girl star will appear in a new TV and print campaign for the trendy sports shoe company which will launch in February, according to Eonline.com.

DJ/producer Mark Ronson, Adam Levine and Ne-Yo are also in negotiations for new K-Swiss ads. l

One good thing came out of actress Christina Applegate's breast cancer battle - she treated herself to the beach house she has always dreamed of.

The Anchorman star underwent a double mastectomy in July but had one thing to look forward to when the medical crisis was over - a new home at the beach.

She says, "I started looking for a beach house the day I found out I had this disease.

"You just kind of go, 'What are you waiting for to get the things that you want and the things that you dream of?'"

Applegate spent three weeks recuperating, post-surgery, at her new beach abode and now spends the weekends at her dream home. l

Filming on John Travolta's new movie came under threat after rioters in Paris, France set fire to 10 cars due to be used in the picture.

The Hollywood actor is currently shooting From Paris With Love in the French capital alongside Irish star Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Production had originally been based in the north-east area of the city in Les Bosquets de Montfermeil, a notoriously run-down area.

But movie bosses were forced to move to a more peaceful suburb after thugs made threats against film workers and torched a handful of vehicles onset.

A spokesman for the production company says, "All 10 vehicles were burnt out and there were threats against the crew.

"There's no possibility of Mr Travolta or any of the other stars operating in such a dangerous area." l

Latest: Actress Jaime Pressly has confirmed she and her fiance Eric Cubiche have separated - amid rumours the pair is on the verge of a permanent split.

The My Name Is Earl star has been engaged to the DJ for two years, and although the two have an 18-month-old son, Dezi, together, Pressly admits they are now on a break.

She tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "We are taking a break from our relationship, but we are together every day with Dezi and still love each other very much."

And Pressly, 31, insists the couple plan to "remain close friends as we both adore our son and want to make sure he knows we both love him more than life". l
