Petition started to get 2.2 for Xperia X10
Many users of the X10 and potential buyers have deemed the OS of Sony Ericsson’s first Android handset, the Xperia X10 out of date. Currently the handset runs 1.6, while most other Android powered handsets run 2.1. Many apps also require 2.1 which limits the amount of apps and games available to the Xperia X10. Sony Ericsson have confirmed that 2.1 will be made available for the X10 by the end of the year though. This isn’t good enough for some users though, as Android have started rolling out 2.2. So by the time 2.1 comes to the X10, it will already be outdated.
An online petition has been started to get Sony Ericsson to bring 2.2 to the Xperia X10, instead of 2.1 when the update from the company is released. I myself am hoping Sony Ericsson take note and have signed the petition myself because, as part of the petition says, the X10 is a great handset but, is limited severely by outdated software.

Creatouch app now available for Xperia X10
by X10 on May 28, 2010
in Applications, News
The Creatouch app that allows users to personalize their Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 home screen is now available to download in the PlayNow market. It seems a bit hit and miss whether you can find it or not. For example, some people running X10i Nordic firmware have it, but despite running the same firmware it’s not appearing for me either directly through PlayNow or via Mediascape.
Creatouch lets you create personalised wallpapers and share these socially. We have included a few pictures of the
installation process courtesy of twitter user farhan032 after the jump

Xperia X10 rooted using SETool
in Applications, Firmware, News
There is some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has finally been rooted. jerpelea from xda-developers managed to gain root access yesterday. The bad news is that it was created and flashed using SETool, which requires its own hardware. Unfortunately, for now, it means that the root won’t be accessible to the wider Xperia X10 community (unless you own the SETool box).
Whilst this is disappointing, they guys are hard at work trying to figure out a cheaper (read: free) way to gain root access. For those wondering what root access will bring to your Xperia X10, then the answer is full control over your handset including the ability to load custom ROMs, relocate apps onto your memory card, complete backup of the phone as well as being able to run some special apps designed for rooted handsets. We’ll keep you posted on further developments
