DSpeech is a text-to-speech program with the option of saving the output as a WAV or MP3 file, which is great for creating audio books from text sources. It also supports dynamically changing the features of the voices eg. insert pauses, emphasize specific words, spell them out etc. using tags.

DSpeech works out-of-the-box on WinXP because the Microsoft speech engine SAPI5 is included by default. If you want to run DSpeech on WinNT/2K, you will need to install the speech engine separately. You will find links to plugins, speech engines and voice sets on the program website

SpeQ is a small, extensive mathematics program with a simple interface. All calculations are entered in a sheet, where you can add, edit and execute all calculations. You can define variables and functions, and plot graphs of your functions. You can also save your calculations for use later.

Pandora Recovery helps to recover permanently deleted files that cannot be found in the Recycle Bin. It works with FAT32, NTFS, NTFS5 and NTFS/EFS partitions. You can preview deleted files of certain type (images and text files) without performing recovery. A deep cluster scan mode is also available that is able to recover files whose MFT record has been overwritten, or when the file allocation table is missing or corrupted. In addition, Pandora Recovery supports recovery of archived, hidden, system, sparse, encrypted and compressed files, as well as ADS (Alternate Data Streams).

Note that automatic update is enabled by default, which can be disabled under program options. Also, the program always asks you to fill up a survey upon exit, which you can skip by clicking the "Close" button

Fact200 is an Internet research tool that helps you find, browse and store information returned from search engines and various news sources. It is capable of prefetching result links and generating thumbnail previews so that you can view them quickly in tiled or slideshow mode. You can also store interesting web pages into a library where they are indexed and searchable.

This program displays a "Sponsored link" window at the bottom, which can be collapsed. I am not sure if the "Sponsored link" actually generates any income for the author. But if you are absolutely purist about this sort of things, you have been warned!
