The dv5t with the Nvidia GeForce 9600M-GT dedicated graphics card
gets hot while playing games. I saw my graphics card reach a high of
91 degrees Celsius while under load. The bottom of the notebook
doesn't get too hot when idle, but it varies depending on what sort of surface the notebook is sitting on. That said, the
HP dv5t is definitely not a machine that should be used in the lap. At idle, the HP dv5t stays only lukewarm on the keyboard surface, though the bottom still gets warm. again, it depends on the surface..
My dv5t has a Core 2 Duo P8400 processor. The highest temperature I have seen it reach
under full load is 64 degrees Celsius, which is perfectly reasonable given that the maximum temperature for the Core 2 Duo in the dv5t is
105 degrees. Under normal use (web surfing), the CPU sits in the
low to mid 30 degree range.
