Metro has carefully chosen the best and worst dressed celebs this week to find out who has hit the fashion jack-pot and who has missed

It has been a great week for Kate Winslet after winning two Golden Globe awards, being nominated for an Oscar and now making Metro's best dressed list – can this woman do no wrong?

Kate Winslet is stunning in a black Narciso Rodriguez dress at the UK premiere of Revolutionary Road

When the British actress arrived a the UK premiere of Revolutionary Road she looked stunning in a black Narciso Rodriguez dress with a criss-crossed glossy leather top.
Despite the freezing temperatures Kate showed off her toned legs with peep-toe black heels and kept her jewelry minimal.
The blonde chose a little black Balmain dress for the L.A premiere as well but we prefer the Narciso Rodriguez piece, showing just the right amount of cleavage between crosses

Kate is up against some tough competition at the Oscars this year but Metro have their fingers crossed for the Brit to take it home.

Kate Hudson is known for her carefree attitude to fashion, sometimes choosing radical designs but this week she looked more like Peter Pan than a fashionista while promoting her new film Bride Wars.

The blonde beauty was draped in black velvet Louis Vuitton from the designer's spring 2009 collection, but the puffed out sleeves, uber low V-neck and superhero belt were a bit too kooky for our liking.
We can't put all the blame on Kate though; she was styled by Hollywood's Rachel Zoe who is best known for her emaciated frame and walking around L.A with Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan.
Our advice to Husdon is therefore – sack the stylist and pick your own getup next time

.An 11-month-old baby has shopped his marijuana-growing dad to police by accidentally dialling 911
Mounties in Canada have revealed how they took a 911 call but, on hearing no voice, traced the address and turned up to see if they could help.
When no one answered, they forced their way into the home in White Rock, British Columbia - and found a 500-plant marijuana growing operation

.The 29-year-old father was arrested and the child taken into care, though later restored to his mother
White Rock police constable Janelle Canning said: "The gentleman was quite surprised."
When the father denied making the call, officers spotted the baby boy - phone in hand.
"We saw him playing with the cordless phone and just pressing all the buttons, so evidently he had called 911," Canning said

Each week Metro scours the mean streets of fashion tipping its shades to some eye-catching, eye-..watering and I don't believe it outfits

This week President Barack Obama's inauguration was the place to be as everyday folk joined political figures and A-list celebrities in the celebration that made history.

At the Latino inaugural gala 'Celebrando El Cambio' days before Obama's celebration to renew America's promise, Colombian singer Shakira stepped onto the red carpet in a bright green Oscar de la Renta gown.
Although the ceremony was about embracing 'change', Shakira's unusual choice in outfit was a bit too much of a change for our liking

The gown mirrors the white strapless Dior dress that Eva Mendes wore to the Golden Globes recently; but the similar strapless style with an oversized bow in green is a bit eye grabbing for the wrong reasons.

Jelena Jankovic



Top seed and world number one Jelena Jankovic has been knocked out of the Australian Open after Marion Bartoli won their fourth-round encounter in straight sets 6-1 6-4
The 16th seed completely outclassed her more illustrious opponent in the first set as Jankovic appeared somewhat out of sorts. The Serb proved more competitive in the second but a combination of crucial errors and fine play from Bartoli ensured Jankovic's quest for a maiden grand slam will continue.
Bartoli said: "I just played amazingly and I'm so happy that I could put in a good performance. I just tried to play my game and hang tough. I knew Jelena would fight until the end and the last game was really tough but I served really well in the last game

Bartoli broke Jankovic on her opening service game, producing a fierce backhand to take the early advantage. The Frenchwoman's backhand was working well and a fine cross-court winner was followed by a delightful lob as she consolidated with a hold.
Bartoli again broke the world number one before the latter finally got going in the fifth game but could not convert three break points as her opponent battled back to establish a 5-0 lead.
Jankovic survived two set points to finally take her first game of the match but it proved a temporary respite as Bartoli closed out the set in just 31 minutes.
Jankovic was clearly becoming increasingly frustrated by Bartoli's pinpoint ground strokes but held her serve in the opening game of the second. However the 16th seed claimed another break in the third, Jankovic producing a double fault with her opponent standing almost on the service line to receive the Serb's second serve.
A backhand pass down the line saw Jankovic claim her opponent's serve and the world number one then dug deep to hold but Bartoli broke again in seventh game to take a 4-3 lead.
However, Jankovic converted the second of two break points with a backhand to reignite hopes of a comeback.
But a lengthy deuce on the top seed's next service game went the way of the Frenchwoman and she subsequently served out the match to claim an impressive victory

Katy Perry says her vow of celibacy was a joke

.Katy Perry has dismissed her vow of celibacy as a joke, saying that she would "rather die"
The 24-year-old singer told a conference call with reporters: "I am not going to be celibate. That was a joke and any fine journalist would have got that."
It follows claims she made in an interview that she would abstain from --- during 2009

The I Kissed A Girl singer recently split with her boyfriend Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes. But the singleton doesn't expect to go a whole year without finding at another bedfellow.
"Please... celibacy for the whole year? I'd rather die," she said.
That said, she does appear hesitant about diving headlong into another relationship.
"I guess I am just going to be looking for the right one," Katy added

Oscar rivals - you've been warned. Kate Winslet is heading for an absolutely titanic year after picking up another top Hollywood award
The 33-year-old actress said she was "lost for words" as she picked up a gong in Los Angeles for best supporting actress
Dressed in a striking blue dress, she displayed some of the emotion that saw her break down during the Golden Globes
At the glittering ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium, Winslet said: "What a year it has been. It is really an honour to be included in such a remarkable year and be acknowledged by my peers in this way

But Winslet did not have it all her own way - she missed out on the title of best leading actress to Meryl Streep.
It was the latest in a series of top level prizes for the British actress.
She has already won two Golden Globes - where she picked up the titles of best actress in a drama for her role in Revolutionary Road and best supporting actress for The Reader.
It was for her role in The Reader, in which she plays a Nazi concentration camp guard who has an affair with a teenager. She is now moving in on scooping an Oscar.
Meanwhile Indian actor Anil Kapoor said the success of Slumdog Millionaire was "unbelievable".
Fresh from its success at the Oscar nominations, low-budget hit Slumdog Millionaire has won more plaudits by picking up a top prize from Hollywood film-makers.
The movie, which tells the rags-to-riches story of a boy from Mumbai's slums, won the best film gong at the Producer's Guild of America awards in LA.
The prize was given to producer Christian Colson and is seen as a good indicator of success at next month's Oscars, where Slumdog is up for ten awards.
Eyes will now turn to next month's Oscars, where Slumdog Millionaire and Winslet are among the nominations for the Academy Awards

Legendary heavy metal band Iron Maiden is to launch Britain's first hotel designed specifically for rock stars, according to reports
The 30-room hotel will boast receptionists dressed all in black, mini-bars hidden in speaker stacks and a main bar that never closes
The publicist for the £6.5m Sanctum Soho Hotel told the Evening Standard: "It's not a hotel for throwing televisions out of windows. It's going to be a s.e.xy hotel

Megan Fox could be taking over from Angelina Jolie as the new Lara Croft

Megan Fox is being considered to take over the Tomb Raider franchise from Angelina Jolie, according to new rumours.
Insiders have claimed that the stunning brunette is a "strong candidate” for the role of the ---- action heroine
The two Tomb Raider films were panned but both were solid moneymakers, which could explain why Paramount are keen to make a third one

.Jolie played an English archaeologist in search of ancient treasures - kind of like a female Indiana Jones
The first film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider debuted at number one with $48.2 million in 2001 and is the most successful video game adaptation to date, grossing $300 million worldwide
The sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life didn't fare as well but made a decent profit internationally
Jolie was awarded a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress for her performance in the films and critics queued up to savage her acting.
Brian Mckay from eFilmCritic.com said: "Like her gaming counterpart, she's all pretty eye candy without much of a soul or even an interesting personality."
There's been no official word yet from the studio on the possibility of another film based on the video popular game series
.Fox, 22, has already proved her action credentials in the live-action adaptation of Transformers
She will also be appearing in the sequel, which is released in the UK on June 26

Max died of nasal cancer after sniffing coke

A crime-fighting sniffer dog who helped put scores of drug offenders behind bars has died of nasal cancer which may have been caused by his police work
Heroic springer spaniel Max is believed to be Britain's first known victim of canine cocaine-induced cancer
Seven years of sniffing out class A drugs contributed to his death, his vet and police handler fear

'It is ironic that the wonderful organ that made him successful in his work has been his demise,' said Insp Anne Higgins.
'Up until a couple of weeks ago he seemed fine and was doing really well but it was an aggressive tumour.
'I took him into the station, which he usually loved and it was his favourite place but that day he did not show any reaction to being there and we knew then he was not right. He was a fighter until the end and always very dignified.'
Max was put down at Tiverton police station, in Devon, on Sunday.
'It was very hard but we had to do it,' said Insp Higgins.
Kate Fairclough, who was Max's vet since 2006, said: 'Sniffing drugs could well have been a factor – I certainly cannot rule it out.
'Nose cancer in dogs is not all that common only about one to two per cent of all cancers in dogs affect the nose. He was a lovely dog.'
Max was forced to retire from Avon and Somerset Police last November after suffering a hip complaint.
