The Big Apple
Do you know which city is the most exciting city in the world? Most of visitors say that New York is the most exciting city. People often call New York ‘The Big Apple’. More than twenty million people visit New York every year. When we talk about New York we think about Manhattan. But New York City has five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens and Staten Island.
There are a lot of things in New York to see. If you go to New York, one of the places you should definitely see is Central park, a quite place to relax and get away from the noise and crowds of the city. There are also other interesting places to visit in Manhattan like Chinatown and Greenwich Village. And if you get to Brooklyn you can see Coney Island including The Cyclone roller-coaster, The New York Aquarium, Coney Island Beach, etc.
If you look up in the street the only things that you can see are the skyscrapers. Some of them are really beautiful and modern. Some of them give you a great view of the city from the top. Some of them are world famous. Some of the most famous buildings are The Statue of Liberty, The empire state building and the United Nation Building.
You can buy every thing you want in New York. And some of the people say, ‘yes, and every thing you don’t want, too!’ There are more than 17000 or more restaurants, cafes, fast food shops and food stalls in New York. You can eat in New York every night for fifty years and never visit the same café or restaurant twice. You can also find from every country in the world.
What can you do after dinner in the evening? You can go to the theater or the ballet, or perhaps go to a concert. New York is a nice city for jazz and rock concerts. Americans also like to watch an exciting baseball game. If you want to see a baseball game, go to the Shea stadium, the home of New York Mets. And you van also visit a museum. New York’s museums have the work of some of the world’s most famous artists. By the way you can do something different every night after dinner as an entertainment.
New York is always changing. You can hear noise of buildings going up or coming down all the time. Cars and buses stop and start, and the policeman blow whistles at drivers. The history of the city and something that you can see now, the skyscrapers, the subway, the shops, the museums, the restaurants, and the people themselves are all the things that make New York the most exciting city in the world.
And let me add something from my self. I watched a film last year from New York. The film related to 200 years ago I guess. I can’t remember the certain year. But all the things were terrible. For example all of the people attacked each other in order to kill each other because they hadn’t come from the same place. The main job of most of them was stealing the things and some other things that I can’t say. But look at New York now. You can see the changes in these 2 centuries. That’s unbelievable. And let’s take a look at out country with the age of thousand years. Look at the history of Iran and compare it with the present time. Some days one of the greatest cities in the world was my city and the biggest bazaar in the world was in my city but now…. . Thinking about these things makes me cry in times.
