well, as far as I know, I think u r supposed to go thru the reading then retell it with yr own simple words...n tell yr idea about the text. Analyze the story if it is good enough n share yr idea about it. as u know all strories have some messages so then u can also share the message u've got form thatl

i think u made a mistake. luck and lina arent each husband. they are friend only and Lina love Luck and Luck love Lina' cooking

about the last sentence ... Lina think with herself that finally she will get the Luck' heart. ok?

The first reading activity

The Way to a Man’s Heart

Lina often asked Luke to dinner. Lina loved Luke, but Luke loved Lina’s cooking, not Lina herself. Lina accepted that for the time being. But she felt that, with enough meals and enough time, she would get her man.
Luke rarely stayed more than ten minutes past the last bite of dessert. Lina would ask Luke if he wanted to watch TV, or play cards or chess, or take a walk around the neighborhood, but Luke always declined. He always said, “I’ve got to go.” They both knew that Luke didn’t have to go anywhere. All he ever did was go back to his apartment and read books or go online.
Tonight was probably going to be more of the same. But Lina was a patient woman. She loved to cook, and she loved to watch people eat her cooking. Tonight she prepared shrimp, fresh green beans, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Luke ate everything with gusto. Then she brought out her homemade cheesecake with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
Luke asked, “Are you trying to fatten me up for something? Every time I come over here, I have to eat celery and lettuce for a week to get back down to my normal weight.”
“Oh, stop exaggerating,” Lina replied. “You enjoy every mouthful.”
“You’re right. I apologize. I love your cooking, and if you didn’t invite me over here, I’d be hurt and hungry.”
Lina watched contentedly as Luke devoured the cheesecake and ice cream. Someday, she thought, I will be his dessert.

well, I coulf finally read the story...it was nice; it was too short to be analyzed but:

- Retelling: It was about a lady named Lina who was in love with a man, Luck, n she was trying to grab his heart by cooking for him since he was fond of eating n besides Lina was a great cook.

- Analyzing: well, as I said it is too short to be analyzed but wot crossed my mind was: Luck was sorta greedy n naive; if he had his eyes opened he could catch that Lina is in love with him, but wot he just cared about was Lina's cooking; n besides it is also showing 'Hope'...Lina is hopeful n that can show the importance of 'being hopeful' otherwise she would be kinda depressed rather than being happy n cooking for her beloved one while Luck had never showed any love to her but her cooking

by the way, I could catch some nice expressions:

It is kind of Lina to invite Luke for dinner despite knowing that he doesn’t like her and it is cruel of Luke not to spend more time with her despite swallowing her yummy food, if I were Lina, I would quit feeding him

Now it’s my turn to talk about the story.
The story is about a couple with names “Luke” and “Lina”. Lina was a kind woman and also a good cook but Luke wasn’t. they ate dinner together but after dinning time Luke didn’t stay with Lina and he preferred to spend his time on line or reading books. In other hand it didn’t Luke’s heart good to spend time with Lina.
At one of the nights Lina became a little angry because of Luke’s complaint about the dessert. But he excused and ate the dessert quickly.
Lina would make Luke happy even she became his dessert because she love him.
Poor Lina.
It was longer than the main story, wasn’t it?: D
