Beyonce to sing at Obama’s first ball as President - 2009-01-19

Beyonce Knowles hit the stage yesterday (January 18) at the “We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration” concert at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. The event was attended by a bevy of stars such as Bruce Springsteen, U2, George Lopez, Will.I.Am, Samuel L. Jackson, Queen Latifah and Tom Hanks. Beyonce will be singing the Etta James classic “At Last” during the swearing-in ceremony at the first ball as President and First Lady on Tuesday (January 20)

Janet Jackson's tour of Japan has been postponed, with promoters blaming the global financial crisis.

Jackson has performed just 16 dates on her Rock Witchu tour

apanese concert promoter Kyodo Yokohama said the singer cancelled five concerts due to take place in February. The 42-year-old Grammy Award winner had planned to perform in several major cities, including Nagoya and Osaka.
Jackson, on her first world tour in nearly seven years, cancelled seven performances in the US in 2008 because of a bout of vertigo.
The gigs in Japan will be rescheduled later this year, with new dates expected to be announced in March.
The star was recently in the UK to support older sister LaToya during her stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house.

New York singer Lady GaGa has topped the UK singles chart for a third week with her debut single Just Dance.


Just Dance has also topped the charts in Canada,
Australia and New Zealand

The 22-year-old also saw her album track and future single Poker Face rise four places to 24, while her album, The Fame, fell one spot to four.
London rockers White Lies went straight to number one in the album chart with their debut release To Lose My Life.
They knocked Irish group The Script from the top spot. They fell two places to three, behind Kings of Leon.
The only other new entry in the album chart was Antony and the Johnsons with The Crying Light coming in at number 18.



Lady GaGa's Just Dance kept its lead over Kid Cudi's Day 'n' Nite which remained at number two in the singles chart.
The biggest mover was Tinchy Stryder with Take Me Back, which jumped 36 places to number three.
Franz Ferdinand scored the highest new entry at 20 with the track Ulysses, and other new entries came from Jay Sean at 23 with Tonight and Bon Iver at 37 with Blood Bank.

New Justin Timberlake Track Hits The Internet



The song, titled “Bigger Than the World,” leaked on Thursday, according to Mtv News , and while the track features Justin’s trademark falsetto and percussion-heavy production from his usual collaborator, super-producer Timbaland, it’s unclear if it will appear on any future releases by the artist.
Justin has turned to working with other artists rather than focus on his own material in the last year, previously telling MTV News that his solo career was “tiring” – and “Bigger Than the World” sounds like it may have been written for someone else. The chorus features the lyric “Though I’m just a girl,” a likely giveaway.
“I could change [my mind] next week, but I don’t have the bug to jump in and start the whole process again, and touring again,” Justin previously told MTV News.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the star is also devoting time to his fashion line, William Rast, which will make its debut at Bryant Park in February with its Fall 2009 collection.

JEAN RENO - RENO WORRIES ABOUT FUTURE AS A NEW DAD

French movie star JEAN RENO has mixed emotions about becoming a father again at 60 - he will have time to play with the new baby, but he's not sure how active he'll be as his kid grows up. The Da Vinci Code star's third wife, Zofia Borucka, is set to give birth to the actor's fifth child later this year (09), and Reno can't wait to take a break from acting and spend time with the new addition.
He says, "I will be able to spend one hour on the carpet with my baby. I wasn't able to do that when I was younger because I was always working, so I hope to be there and have more time."
But he's trying not to think about the future - because he worries he won't have the energy to be a hands-on dad: "The question that pains me is will I be able to play football or even to run when the baby gets older. We'll see."
And Reno admits he no longer wants to be reminded of his age - his 60th birthday celebrations were his last.
He explains, "I don't want to celebrate anymore. I admitted that I do not want people saying, 'Hey, you look great, you're in shape.' No, leave me alone!"

Angelina Jolie turned heads at the Screen Actors Guild Awards last Sunday, and it wasn't just because she was her usual stunning self. It turns out Angie was wearing her Max Azria gown -- a cornflower blue creation -- backward!
Did a spurned stylist tell her to wear it the wrong way round? Or was the "Changeling" star too busy caring for her newborn twins that she didn't realize her mistake?

Neither, according to Jen Rade, who styles the starlet. Rade told Usmagazine.com that Jolie reversed the gown on purpose to make it "more blouson." For those of you who do not parle Francais, "blouson" is the French word for blouse. The end result was a bit too bland for my taste, and rather reminiscent of another Max Azria dress she wore to the Critic's Choice Awards just a few weeks earlier. Had she worn her gown the right way round, Angelina would have shown more skin but less of her distracting tattoos!
For some reason, the ---- actress has favored billowy blouson gowns with cinched waists this awards season. I just hope she takes a break from the trend come Oscars next month. She may be a mother of six, but she doesn't need to look matronly.

Essence Festival Adds Maxwell, Al Green, Ne-Yo

Maxwell, Anita Baker, Al Green and Ne-Yo will join previously announced headliner Beyonce at the 15th annual Essence Music Festival this summer in New Orleans.

Also added to the lineup are John Legend, Robin Thicke, Salt-N-Pepa and En Vogue.

Organized by Essence magazine, the event is scheduled for July 3-5 at the New Orleans Superdome.

Rounding out the bill are Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars, Teena Marie, Eric Benet, Jazmine Sullivan, Janelle Monae, Raphael Saadiq, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Zap Mama, The Knux, Irvin Mayfield, Lalah Hathaway, Blind Boys of Alabama, Ledisi, Marva Wright, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Brand New Heavies, Dan Dyer, DJ Soul Sister, Keri Hilson, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Ave.

Spears obtains ex-boyfriend ban

Singer Britney Spears has obtained a restraining order against ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib and one-time manager Sam Lutfi, court papers show.


The 27-year-old, whose affairs have been controlled by her father as a "conservator" for a year, obtained the order from a Los Angeles judge.
It accused Mr Ghalib, a photographer, and Mr Lutfi of trying to "disrupt" the conservatorship order.
Neither man was available to comment, the Associated Press reported.
Lawyer Jon Eardley, who is also named in the order, was also unavailable for comment.
The documents state the three men have been trying to take charge of Ms Spears' affairs, which have been controlled by Jamie Spears since 1 February 2008.







"On the first anniversary of the establishment of the conservatorship, the co-conservators are informed and believe that these three figures are working in concert to disrupt the conservatorship, with an utter disregard for Ms Spears' health and well-being," the documents, released on Friday, state.




'Anonymous messages'
They also claim that Mr Lutfi had tried to contact the singer by sending text messages to her hairdresser, before sending messages to Ms Spears herself and one of her father's lawyers, Blair Berk, to try to arrange a meeting.
The order, granted by Judge Aviva K Bobb, also alleges Mr Lutfi had sent "anonymous, harassing and threatening" messages to Jamie Spears.
Geraldine Wyle, a lawyer for Mr Spears, wrote that Mr Ghalib, who was brought up in Birmingham before settling in California, and Mr Lutfi had "disappeared" and investigators had been trying to find the pair for six weeks.







An earlier restraining order against Mr Lutfi was not renewed when it expired in July, with Ms Spears' court-appointed attorney issuing a statement renouncing their friendship.
While the conservatorship order has been expensive, with Ms Spears' estate paying out hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees, the singer's life has settled down after a turbulent spell which saw her taken to hospital twice.



Her last album, Circus, was released in December and she starts a US tour in New Orleans next month, before an eight-night residency at London's O2 arena in June.

French actress Eva Green has blown open the Gallic myth that English men lack that certain 'je ne sais quoi'

The Bond girl, who lives alone in her adopted home town of London, said she's more than willing to give Blighty's finest a chance.
'The cliché of the Englishman – quite uptight, the head not quite connected to the body – I've found generally to be untrue,' the 28-year-old said.
But she added her steamy scene with Daniel Craig in Casino Royale didn't really float her boat.
'We tried our best to make it look convincing but it's a long way away from real kissing,' she told GQ magazine
