Dear Archi, When We Are About To Celebrate Ghorban Eid And Yalda Together, Why Should We Talk About A Foreign Tradition And Festival
I Donno Anything About Christmas, So I'd Rather To Remain Quiet And Use Others Information
Hope You The Best Of Heaven And Earth
    Dear Petros,
That's exactly why I chose this topic,Because I myself know so little about Christmas, I have lots of foreign friends,I really know nothing about this big event which is celebrated in most countries, I some times forget to send them Christmas cards, That's why I think it's really important to know about it.Ill try my best to gather lots of infos this week

about yalda, it's almost finished , and ghorban eid ,do you have anything to talk about ???

By choosing Christmas ,I didn't mean that I forgot our events, It's just to get to know better the cultures of the people who we're speaking their language

    Good luck dearl

What has Christmas message for our world? i
Christmas is one of the most important periodic ceremonies in world. i
24th december's night is Christmas night & jubilee of jesus christ's birthday.jesus is one of the greatest world's religions originator. more over; he is very reverent for moslems and he has a eminent place in quran. as you know; jesus is on of the prophets that are named "olou_al_azm". i
yearly; hundreds millions of christians in the world, celebrate this ceremony. however; at the last centuries, because of diminution of religion's role in civic life of western societies, this ceremony has lost its religious efficacy and it is changed to a pompous & pervasive ceremony for their jubilation. nowaday; in the great zone of western societies, this ceremony is a tradition for respect of peace & solidarity & humanism. i
but; notwithstanding this nice perception, reality this is that nowaday, humanism message of Christmas, can not find receptive ear in the many of world's zones. In some societies, the national & religious minorities (even some christians) exist that are prohibited from freely celebration of Christmas ceremony. i
Anybody knows that in the last years, religious fundamentalism is become powered and some of the religious thoughts that assert peace & kindness, nowaday ; are a pretext for sulk & truculence. up and down is seen that religious zealotry and thought's calcification is making a base from religious thoughts for invading and libelling to other religions. i
in all religions, believers & veracious peoples are warning for outspreading of this phenomenon. spiritual gradation of peoples through propagation of peace and humanism is common message of all religions. i
Christmas is immortal reflection of this vital calling. i

    Christmas:
I read some interesting info about it, the point is that Christmas time is not the exact day of Christ birth,But they celebrate it as it's so.
25th of December is the Christmas Eve, in most countries (In some others it's on 24th of December or 6th January. So they celebrate this and the new year begins on 1st January. The Holidays Started yestreday (good for them)
Why the word X-masis used instead of Christmas???? In early Greek versions of the New Testament, the letter Χ (chi), is the first letter of Christ.
I found something really interesting,Why they choose this time of the year for celebrating new year????
    l
The end of December was a perfect time for celebration in most areas of Europe. At that time of year, most cattle were slaughtered so they would not have to be fed during the winter. For many, it was the only time of year when they had a supply of fresh meat. In addition, most wine and beer made during the year was finally fermented and ready for drinking.
That's really a funny story, When I read these things , I realize what a great culture we have.

More info will come soon, By the way I heard that Christmas is derived from Iranian costumes. The celebration for mehr and Yalda night is on the same dates. Any body has any info???l

Sally,Of course Iranian culture comes first, but you should know about others to realize what is yoursl

We normally buy presents for our friends and family and we give them to each other (or place it under the Christmas tree) on Christmas day (25th December in Britain). Also we have normally have a special Christmas lunch with a whole turkey as the traditional dish!
