I've been obsessing with Don McLean's "American Pie" (the complete album) these past few days. It's a such a great record with so many great songs! if you enjoy the lighter side of rock I definitely recommend it. Most of the songs have simple instrumentation mostly with piano and acoustic guitar.
the first track "American Pie" is one of those songs that gives me goosebumps. It's not really slow and it's definitely not a love song. But what I love about it is that it pays homage to the music I love the most. It's such an emotional song for me. I know that it's stupid but I can't even begin to describe how much I love the 60s and the music of that era. And I honestly feel like crying when McLean sings about "the day the music died" in that song and in some parts of the song I feel so joyous that I actually wanna shout and sing along with it and I love every little reference to the artists of that time.
