Instead of rocking out in Times Square on New Year's Eve, Miley Cyrus performed at Arnold O'Beckman High School in Irvine, CA. The private concert rewarded senior Alison Kaprielian for raising breast cancer awareness.



Paris Hilton started off 2009 with a good deed. The heiress visited sick children at the Gold Coast Hospital in Queensland, Australia. Earlier in the week, Paris and her sister Nicky attended numerous New Year's events in Sydney.

St. Barts was the destination of choice for the jet set. Beyonce and Jay-Z spent the week frolicking on the Caribbean island.



Daniel Craig also enjoyed the warm waters of St. Barts. Looks like the James Bond star prefers wearing square-cut swimsuits off-screen as well!



Mariah Carey quickly dispelled pregnancy rumors after she was spotted drinking wine and eating shellfish while vacationing with husband Nick Cannon in St. Barts.

Some news outlets speculated that Jennifer Garner would deliver on New Year's Day, but their hopes were dashed. The actress' due date is later this month.

Meanwhile, it was back to business for David Beckham. The soccer star joined his AC Milan teammates for training in Dubai on Thursday.



Balthazar Getty (seen here arriving for a vacation in Mexico) may find himself out of a full-time gig in 2009. According to Entertainment Weekly, the producers of "Brothers & Sisters" told Getty that he would not be coming back as a regular next season. Getty's publicist denies the actor is leaving the ensemble drama.

Brody Jenner should consider guest starring in other reality shows after the premiere of his new (and second unsuccessful) reality show "Bromance" tanked. Ratings for Whitney Port's "Hills" spin-off "The City" were also poor.




DJ AM and Travis Barker hit the stage on New Year's Eve -- their first performance together since the near fatal plane crash last September. AM, aka Adam Goldstein, took to his blog last week to clarify the terms of his negligence lawsuit. Goldstein blogged, "this suit is against the insurance companies that insured the pilots. I'm not after [the pilots'] personal estates nor their property." However, his suit does state, "The pilots were either poorly trained and/or failed to follow their training."



Matt Dillon was taken to a police station in Newbury, Vermont, after being stopped at 106mph on Interstate 91, more than 40mph over the speed limit. If convicted next month, the actor could get three months in jail.

"It's with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Mari, today (Saturday) at 2:30am," her family wrote on the site of Mariana Bridi da Costa

They said she died of a generalized infection and abdominal bleeding

National news websites, including G1, O Globo and Estadao, quoted authorities confirming the information

Doctors at the Dorio Silva Hospital in Serra, in the southeastern state of Espirito Santo, earlier this month amputated Bridi's hands and feet because of irreparable tissue damage caused by a urinary infection

She was diagnosed with the Pseudomonas aeroginosa bacterium, which can prove fatal

Bridi was an up-and-coming model before the tragedy struck

She twice made it into the national finals for the Miss World contest, and last year traveled to China to participate in the Miss Bikini International pageant

Her family and media on Friday had launched an appeal for blood donors to help Bridi, who had the rare O negative blood type

"It is important to stress that, in Mari's 20 years of life, she lived intensely and was very happy," the family said in their statement

Rihanna And Chris Brown Set For Super Collaboraion



US R&B star Chris Brown has revealed that he is written a series of songs which could become a collaboration with his girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown also told Billboard that he was writing songs the singer’s new album – the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’.
“I actually have a couple of songs written already that would be dope collaborations between me and her,” he said.
“And I’m writing for her new album now.”
Meanwhile, Brown has been named the magazine’s Artist of the Year for the second time in his career.
The nineteen-year-old said he hadn’t “expected” to receive the honour.

They are moving to the sprawling waterfront Sassafras estate on Long Island's Gold Coast with their six children, reports say.
The 2,045sq-m (22,000sq-ft) home will be home while Oscar-nominated Jolie films the movie Salt in New York from March

The Tudor-style property includes a pool (of course), a private cove, two helipads, a private dock, gym, barbershop, elevator, and fall-out shelter in case of emergency

“Wow. Chris Brown is a fan. That’s so sweet,” says Brandy.
Sitting down with Rap-Up recently, Brandy goes on to say that she loves Crihanna, the nickname for Chris Brown and Rihanna’s relationship.
“Every time I see Chris Brown, he tells me songs that have never been on any of my albums. He tells me songs that have been online or that you have to find, like Brandy’s lost records—records that you would have to Google, that are not on iTunes—and it’s like, “Wow. Chris Brown is a fan.”
Brandy, who released her first album in several years titled “Human” in 2008, says Rihanna listens to her 2004 album “Afrodisiac” a lot.

T.I. Gives Thanks At Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball

As T.I. stepped to the podium to give his acceptance speech for the Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball at the Harmon Center for the Arts on Monday, he realized he could not find his speech, so he went off the top of his head. Tip talked to the crowd about all the things he's thankful for, a speech that left the crowd members stunned and on their feet. T.I. stated, "I want to thank God for giving me the strength, the wisdom, the patience, the resilience, the perseverance to make it through one of the toughest times of my life."

Tip also had the chance to perform for hundreds of screaming fans crowded in to the Love nightclub in Washington, D.C. In between songs, the rapper thanked his fans for all of their support. He also had another message for the crowd as well. "If you're down for Barack Obama," he screamed into the microphone, "let me hear you yell!" In an instant, the crowd responded enthusiastically at times shaking the walls with their resounding screams.

success of his 2007 sophomore Jive set “Exclusive,” which has sold 1.9 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Chris Brown is wrapping up a banner 2008. Not only did he snare two more Grammy Award nominations — best pop collaboration (with Jordin Sparks on “No Air”) and best male R&B vocal (”Take You Down”) — he emerges as Billboard’s top pop artist of the year
Brown says he’s content to let the album “die down,” although a new single, “Superhuman” featuring Keri Hilson, was recently released. “Then I’m going to go away for a little while so people won’t get tired of me,” he says with a laugh. “After that I’ll come back and give them some bangers.”
In the meantime, Brown is plenty busy with other projects, including new music with girlfriend Rihanna. “I actually have a couple of songs written already that would be dope collaborations between me and her,” he says. “And I’m writing for her new album now.”
Among other outside writing projects, Brown says he “did a couple of songs for the Jonas Brothers, but I don’t know if they took any of them. And I did a couple of songs with the Backstreet Boys and the Pussycat Dolls. I’ve also been writing songs for several new girl groups who are coming out.”
But his most surprising collaboration is with Tim McGraw, on a song called “Human” which has yet to be released. “It’s incredible, he says. “I wanted to do something more along the country line. That’s a bigger and different audience for me. I also did a song with the Japanese group called the Teriyaki Boys out of Pharrell’s camp.”
Next year will see the release of Brown’s first artist on his CBE label through Interscope, 13-year-old Scooter Smiff. Brown appears on Smiff’s first single, “Head of My Class.” “I will also have another label through Jive that’s still in the works,” he says. “Urban acts are the hardest to pick because of the competition level that’s out there right now. You don’t want to choose a novelty artist who’s only going to give you one record.”
