SoyaCincau also recently unboxed the handset and has given a more in-depth look at the handset. This includes two unboxing videos with a total run time of around 19 minutes that are well worth checking out. SoyaCincau confirm that they have a retail version of the Xperia S that is destined to hit their home town of Malaysia shortly. Thankfully, they noticed improvements over the prototype they handled in January. They found that the build quality and “mesmerizing” display really stood out. They even went as far as saying that the display is the best on offer on any Android handset right now. See the unboxing videos below.

The long-awaited first dual-core phone from Sony, the [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] , keeps up with the manufacturer's tradition to use Qualcomm chipsets in its Android lineup, but we have the Snapdragon S3 in its maxed out 1.5GHz variant in the Xperia S.

It's still a Cortex-A9 chipset, with Adreno 220 graphics processor - not the most scorching of combinations to wow the bench tests, but a good all-rounder, considering it has integrated HSPA+ radio, and all the regular connectivity chips, making Sony's life easier for testing and implementation.


It scored a bit over 3000 on the [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] , which now accounts for multicore chipsets, north of 6400 on AnTuTu, and the GPU eked about 38fps on NenaMark 2 - all in all, decent results, and about what we expected from this chipset. On Browsermark, which is a synthetic online browsing test, the Xperia S favored pretty well, too, at slightly over the 75, 000 points mark, meaning that browsing will be smooth sailing, except for the heaviest or some unoptimized sites.


All in all, it is unlikely that the Xperia S will be scared by anything you can throw at it from Android Market, even at the HD screen resolution, and it's also very snappy when recording 1080p video or taking pictures, and that's all which is needed from it.

A leaked video of the Sony Xperia S shows off the manufacturer's new UI which is being called UXP NXT. There are major changes to Timescape, the gallery and the music player and a new lock screen is also revealed. Among the features of the UI shown on the video is an FM Radio, the device's set-up guide, and a calculator similar to the one on iOS, that turns from basic features to a scientific calculator in landscape mode.

This time, the Sony Xperia S is pitted against the Samsung Galaxy S II, Nokia N8, HTC Sensation XL as well as a Fujifilm Finepix T200 camera. This was even more impressive considering the Xperia S was not using final build software. They tested the cameras across different environments including outdoor shots, macro shots and indoor pictures with and without the use of flash.
