TELUS-bound Samsung Hercules images surface again

We recently reported a certain Samsung Hercules that was spotted in Canada that could be heading for the TELUS network. Today we have some more pictures, courtesy MobileSyrup.com, that not only confirm that the phone will in fact be sold on the TELUS network but also give us a brief idea of the kind of performance it will offer.

The Samsung Hercules is a variant of the Galaxy S II but the two have several differences. For starters, the display has been stretched to 4.5-inches but maintains the fabulous Super AMOLED Plus technology. Below the display we can see a row of capacitive touch buttons, same as those on the Nexus S. In fact the entire shape of the phone looks quite similar to the Nexus S.
The Hercules is expected to have a dual-core 1.2GHz processor on-board and it is rumored to be from Qualcomm instead of Samsung’s own Exynos. Perhaps it is same as the one that powers the HTC Sensation. It has an 8 megapixel camera on the back, possibly capable of 1080p video capture and a 2 megapixel camera on the front. It is expected to be Canada’s first dual-carrier 42Mbps smartphone.

We also have the score of the Quadrant benchmark and we can see the Hercules did quite well with a score of 3359, which is just a shade below the score of 3538 that we obtained on the Galaxy S II. This score is significantly better than the 2357 that the Sensation managed, which is possible even if the Hercules is running on the same chip as the Sensation because the Sensation has a higher resolution display that is more difficult to drive and hence gets a lower score overall. It must be said that the Galaxy R running Tegra 2 managed to get a higher score than all these phones in Quadrant.
No pricing or release date is known at this point of time. Hopefully, the official launch of this phone is not far from now

Samsung roadmap leaks again, adds a WP7 handset to the mix

Last week a few bits and pieces of the Samsung smartphone roadmap leaked and now we add more pieces to the puzzle.
We just got the expected release dates for most of the smartphones and the two tablets as well as a whole new addition to the Samsung lineup that will, reportedly, be running on Windows Phone 7.
So obviously Samsung hasn't given up on Windows Phone 7 just yet and it will be releasing the I8350 Omnia W sometimes this year. It will probably be running WP7 Mango on a 1GHz CPU and will be built around a 3.7" display. The rest of the Omnia W features that we know at this stage include a 5 MP camera, WiFi and GPS.
Here's what the whole picture looks like, now that we've added the extra info. The numbers in brackets show the target release week for each of the handsets. Make note, we're currently in the 33rd week of 2011.

اپل هم فتوشاپ کار از آب درآمد!

واحد خبر mobile.ir : به نظر می رسد اپل و وکلای این کمپانی خواسته یا ناخواسته موجب گمراه شدن دادگاه دوسلدورف آلمان شده اند.

این دادگاه هفته گذشته رأیی مقدماتی را صادر نمود که به موجب آن عرضه تبلت گالاکسی تب 10.1 سامسونگ در اروپا (به استثنای هلند) ممنوع گردید () (البته این رأی مجدداً تا حدی تغییر یافت و حوزه اجرایی آن به آلمان محدود شد.) علت صدور این رأی شکایت اپل از سامسونگ مبنی بر تقلید سامسونگ از تبلت های آی پد اپل در طراحی و ساخت تبلت های گالاکسی تب 10.1 بود ().

اما وب سایت webwereld.nl نکته ای را کشف نمود و آن عدم تطابق یکی ازعکس های ارائه شده توسط اپل به دادگاه آلمان با محصولات واقعی بود که می تواند یا به دلیل دستکاری شدن عکس توسط اپل باشد و یا به دلیل استفاده از عکسی از نمونه اولیه محصول سامسونگ که شاید در اختیار آنها بوده است.

تبلت Galaxy Tab 10.1 سامسونگ ابعادی برابر 256.7x175.3x8.6 میلیمتر دارد. این بدان معناست که نسبت طول به عرض این تبلت (یا همان Aspect Ratio آن) برابر 1.46 است اما عکسی که اپل در صفحه 28 شکایت خود به دادگاه آلمان ارائه داده نسبت طول به عرض تبلت Galaxy Tab 10.1 سامسونگ را 1.36 جلوه می دهد (مستند ارائه شده توسط اپل به دادگاه را می توانید در اینجا ملاحظه نمائید. برای مشاهده عکس مربوطه به صفحه 28 این مستند مراجعه نمائید.)

با توجه به آنکه تبلت iPad 2 اپل نیز ابعادی برابر 241.2x185.7x8.8 میلیمتر دارد و این ابعاد نشان دهنده نسبت طول به عرض برابر 1.30 است قطعاً این شائبه پیش خواهد آمد که اپل با تغییر نسبت طول به عرض تبلت سامسونگ می خواسته شباهت ظاهری تبلت خود و تبلت رقیب را بیش از میزان واقعی آن جلوه دهد.

با توجه به آنکه یکی از مسائل مهم در طراحی نسبت ابعاد است و با در نظر گرفتن این نکته که مطابق قانون آنچه به دادگاه به عنوان شواهد ارائه می شود باید "کامل و صادقانه" باشد (صرف نظر از تعمدی یا غیر تعمدی بودن ارائه شواهد نادرست) برخی از تحلیلگران مسائل قانونی بر این اعتقادند که ارائه تصاویر مغایر با واقعیت توسط اپل به دادگاه ممکن است تبعات ناخوشایندی را برای این کمپانی به دنبال داشته باشد.

بايد ببينيم كدوم قويتر هستن اونو بگيريم - حيف كه صفحش Super AMOLED HD هست و Super AMOLED HD Plus نيست چون تقريبا همون كاري كه افزايش پيكسل ها تو صفحه نمايش HD انجام ميدن تو صفحه هاي Plus ساب پيكسل ها انجام ميدن

Samsung to unpack a new smartphone at IFA, I9250 perhaps

Samsung just published the video teaser for their Berlin Unpacked event that will take place on the eve, before the IFA 2011 kicks off. The video obviously points at the announcement of a new device and from what we can tell it should be the rumored Android-running I9250.
From the way people are holding the device- women are using both their hands, while the guy that's talking on it has placed two of his finger on the back - it becomes obvious that it is somewhat larger than your regular 4-inch phone. Yet it's still small enough to be held next to your ear while talking, so it's obviously not a tablet.
If you have been keeping track of recent rumors you'd know that Samsung supposedly have a device in the works that fits the description quite well. Of course, we are talking about the Samsung I9250, which should sport a 4.65" Super AMOLED of HD resolution (yeap, that's HD as in 1280 x 720 pixels).

This should also be Samsung's first foray in the world of Android Ice Cream sandwich. As far as latest rumors have it, the Samsung I9250 is only expected to hit the shelves in the 48th week of this year, which spans from 28th November to 4th December. Yet, Samsung usually announces its flagships a couple of months before their market availability so it's not inconceivable that we'll get the chance to see the I9250 for the first time at the IFA 2011 that starts on September 2nd.
And, with the successor of the 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab also expected to be announced at the German expo, we are certainly in for a nice time in the first week of September

Mobiado Grand Touch offers Android experience to the rich

Mobiado has been around for quite some time now, establishing itself among the premier makers of ultra luxury mobile phones. With its latest creation, dubbed Grand Touch, the Canadian company adds, for the first time, an Android device to its portfolio.

As you can probably tell from the picture above, the new Mobiado droid is no other but a Google Nexus S, which has gone through some serious gold treatment. Using the Google phone should give Mobiado a relative edge on the market for ultra premium Android devices, because Tag Heuer and Ulysse Nardin’s offerings are certainly not up to date in the software department.
The Samsung made device has gone through a serious visual transformation including 139 carats of sapphire crystal and 24 carat gold plated body which has been CNC machined. The device’s buttons are also made from sapphire crystal. You also have the option of having inlayed crystals in the corner facets of the droid, should you decide that it might look too plain.
The device will be available in yellow or rose gold options. In case you are on a budget, you can have it in aviation grade aluminum as well, or just make do with a plain Google Nexus S.
There is still no information on pricing, but we suspect that the Mobiado Grand Touch will not come cheap. Hit the source link for a couple of more pictures and tell us how you like it in the comments section below.

Is a Samsung-made Nexus Prime coming in October?O

The rumors that Samsung will be producing the next generation Google phone are heating up. Today's edition suggests that the next Google phone, the Nexus Prime, will launch in October and will be the first device to run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Reportedly, it will pack a 4.5" screen with 720p resolution - probably the new generation SuperAMOLEDs we heard of yesterday. If that's true, it will mean going back to PenTile matrixes.
Rumors go on to say that the Nexus Prime will be powered by a chipset that will make even the Galaxy S II look slow - a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and a PowerVR SGX540 GPU running at a higher clock speed than we've ever seen so far.
Samsung is already teasing their Berlin Unpacked event, which will precede IFA. It's expected that they'll show the I9250 - supposedly a Android Ice Cream Sandwich phone with a 4.65" screen with 720p resolution.
This sounds very much in line with the Nexus Prime - and if it's not Prime itself, it might be Samsung's own version of the phone (like how Nexus S/Galaxy S were). Also, a September announcement and an October launch seem good.
The acquisition of Motorola by Google hasn’t gone through yet, so it's not strange that another company is making the next Nexus. Things might look differently when the time comes to make a successor to the Nexus Prime.
We can't wait for the Berlin Unpacked and IFA, when we should get a clearer picture.

Samsung’s 720p SuperAMOLED screen is reportedly ready, coming to phones and tablets soon?v

Rumor has it that Samsung has hit their target of 720p SuperAMOLED displays. The new displays should be unveiled soon and will come in different sizes – 5″, 6″, 7″ are mentioned by insiders.
Reportedly, Samsung had to resort to PenTile again to get the coveted 1280×720 resolution. I haven’t seen such a big PenTile screen yet – big screens are used from a bigger distance, which might be enough to conceal the lower subpixel count.
Anyway, the new screens use new materials and a new manufacturing process, which will lead to reduced cost of the displays. Right now SuperAMOLEDs cost 20% more than S-LCD, but new units will have prices closer to S-LCD.
After the AMOLED shortage, a lot of manufacturers (including Samsung itself) switched away from AMOLED. That and the reduced sales by Nokia have reportedly lead to the opposite problem at Samsung’s plants – overcapacity.
Curiously, the report mentions the Samsung I9220 with a 5.3″ screen – which isn’t what we’re hearing (4.65″ sounds more realistic, considering they already have a 4.5″ model).
Well, IFA will be starting soon (September 2nd) and there’s a good chance we’ll see at least one of these new fancy SuperAMOLED screens on display there (pun intended). Will it be on a 7″ Galaxy Tab tablet or on a 4.65″-5.3″ smartphone is hard to tell. There was also talk at one point of sub-compact netbooks with SuperAMOLED screens too so the possibilities are quite varied.
