Samsung to revise their device naming system for 2011

With the Nokia 500 being the first of Nokia's devices to follow their newest form of naming classification, now it appears that Samsung have seen fit to devise a new naming format of their own.
The fundamental name changes are as follows based on variations amongst the 'Wave', 'Omnia' and 'Galaxy' category devices. Each set of devices will be subject to grading, with the letters,'S', 'R', 'W', 'M' and 'Y'. The 'S' class being Samsung's crème de la crème, pretty much in line with how we see it now, any 'S' phone will effectively qualify as a flagship or the top device available within that category of device.

It's important to add at this stage that each class of devices is also intended for a different price bracket and as a means of remembering the classes you can see which ones are likely to fetch more by words relating to the letter.
What that breaks down as is that after the 'S' class, comes the 'R' class, expected to be associated with words like 'Royal' or 'Refined', prices for devices in the range would be between €300 and €400. 'W' ties to the word 'Wonder' and fits the more middle of the road devices with prices between €200 and €300. Then we hit 'M', which stands for 'Magical', these mid-tier devices will retail between €130 and €200, and the final category is of course 'Y', which you should think of as 'young-minded'. These will be the entry level smartphones coming in at the €130 mark, tops.
The system also has one more set of variables to add to the mix, but stick with us. These new letters will sometimes be followed by the words 'Plus', 'Pro' or 'LTE'. 'Plus', as seen on the Galaxy S Plus, would promise enhanced attributes compared to it predecessor, or similar devices in it's class, but not enough to qualify for a device all their own.
The 'pro' devices, much like Sony Ericsson handsets, will guarantee the presence of a hardware keyboard, and the final extension is 'LTE', fairly self-explanatory with any devices following this convention, able to work on the 4G network.

روه خبری GSM: بر اساس آخرین اخبار منتشر شده، شرکت کره‌ای سامسونگ در نظر دارد تا پایان سال جاری میلادی 9 گوشی هوشمند و دو رایانه لوحی جدید را روانه بازار کند.

به گزارش ایستنا، طبق اخبار به‌دست آمده سامسونگ در این اقدام 7 گوشی هوشمند مبتنی بر سیستم‌عامل اندروید، دو رایانه لوحی مبتنی بر نسخه Honeycomb اندروید با نمایشگر لمسی 7 اینچی و دو گوشی هوشمند مبتنی بر سیستم‌عامل Bada را به دست کاربران می‌رساند که یکی از این دو گوشی با نمایشگر لمسی 4 اینچی با کیفیت SuperAMOLED به دست کاربران می‌رسند.

یکی از گوشی‌های جدیدی که سامسونگ در این اقدام عرضه می‌کند I9250 نام دارد که در اصل محصولی بین رایانه لوحی و گوشی هوشمند است. این گوشی نمایشگر لمسی 4.65 اینچی SuperAMOLED را با کیفیت 1280 در 720 پیکسلی HD، دوربین 5 مگاپیکسلی نسخه Ice Cream سیستم‌عامل اندروید در خود جا داده است.

محصول دیگر سامسونگ که قرار است در این اقدام روانه بازار شود I9220 نام دارد که روی آن نسخه 2.3.3 اندروید موسوم به Gingerbread نصب شده است. نمایشگر این گوشی هوشمند 3/4 اینچی لمسی از نوع SuperAMOLED و با کیفیت 1280 در 720 پیکسلی HD است و از دیگر امکانات به کار رفته در آن می‌توان به پردازنده دوهسته‌ای1.4 گیگاهرتزی و دوربین 8 مگاپیکسلی اشاره کرد.

دیگر گوشی هوشمند جدید سامسونگ I9210 نام دارد که همراه با نسخه 2.3.3 سیستم‌عامل اندروید به دست کاربران می‌رسد و از مهم‌ترین امکنات به کار رفته در آن می‌توان به نمایشگر لمسی 4.5 اینچی SuperAMOLED با کیفیت WVGA و قابلیت پشتیبانی از شبکه مخابراتی 4G اشاره کرد. این محصول 16 گیگابایت حافظه داخلی، دوربین دیجیتالی 8 مگاپیکسلی، فلش LED، دوربین دوم 2 مگاپیکسلی برای برقراری تماس‌های تصویری، گیرنده ماهواره‌ای GPS، گیرنده شبکه بی‌سیم Wi-Fi، فناوری ارتباطی Blutooth 3.0 و باتری 1750 mAh دارد.

سامسونگ در این فرآیند گوشی دیگری را با نام I8150 معرفی کرده است که روی آن نمایشگر لمسی 7/3 اینچی با کیفیت 480 در 800 پیکسل(WVGA) نصب شده است و از مهم‌ترین امکاناتی که در آن به کار رفته است می‌توان به قابلیت پشتیبانی از شبکه HSDPA، 4 گیگابایت حافظه داخلی و پردازنده تک‌هسته‌‌ای 4/1 گیگاهرتزی اشاره کرد. این گوشی نیز همراه با نسخه Gingerbread سیستم‌عامل اندروید، قابلیت پشتیبانی از کارت حافظه microSD و دوربین دیجیتالی 5 مگاپیکسلی با قابلیت تصویربرداری با کیفیت 720 پیکسلی HD به دست کاربران می‌رسد.

گوشی دیگر سامسونگ با نام B5510 معری شده است که همراه با نمایشگر لمسی 8/2 اینچی و نسخه 2.2.2 سیستم‌عامل اندروید موسوم به Froyo به دست کاربران می‌رسد. این گوشی هوشمند پردازنده 800 مگاهرتزی دارد به و صفحه‌کلید سخت‌افزاری کامل QWERTY مجهز شهد است و همراه با دوربین دیجیتالی 3 مگاپیکسلی، سیستم پخش برنامه‌های رادیو FM، Wi-Fi و گیرنده ماهواره‌ای GPS به دست کاربران می‌رسد.

سامسونگ در این اقدام گوشی‌های دیگری را با نام S5360 و S5610 روانه بازار می‌کند. روی این دو گوشی هوشمند نمایشگر با کیفیت QVGA(240 در 320 پیکسل) نصب شده است که نمایشگر مدل S5360 به اندازه 3 اینچ و نمایشگر مدل S5610 به اندازه 2.4 اینچ ساخته شده است. مدل S5610 دوربین 5 مگاپیکسلی و مدل دیگر دوربین 2 مگاپیکسلی دارد. برای این دو محصول قابلیت پشتیبانی از فناوری‌های GPS، Wi-Fi و HSDPA در نظر گرفته شده است.

سامسونگ همچنین قصد دارد که تا پایان سال جاری میلادی دو رایانه لوحی روانه بازار کند. یکی از این دو محصول P6200 نام دارد که به نسخه Honeycomb سیستم‌عامل اندروید، نمایشگر لمسی 7 اینچی از نوع Honeycomb با کیفیت 1024 در 600 پیکسل، دوربین 3 مگاپیکسلی، دوربین دوم 2 مگاپیکسلی برای تماس‌های تصویری و قابلیت پشتیبانی از شبکه HSDPA مجهز شده است.

رایانه لوحی دیگر سامسونگ موسوم به P6210 که کلیه امکانات یاد شده را در خود جا داده است، از شبکه بی‌سیم Wi-Fi نیز پشتیبانی می‌کند.

سامسونگ همچنین قصد عرضه دو گوشی هوشمند با سیستم‌عامل اختصاصی خود موسوم به Bada را دارد. نخستین محصول در این زمینه که به نسخه Bada 2.0 این سیستم‌عامل مجهز شده است P6210 نام دارد که همراه با نمایشگر لمسی 3.2 اینچی و فناوری ارتباطی Blutooth 3.0 به دست کاربران می‌رسد. دیگر گوشی هوشمند مجهز به این سیستم‌عامل S8600 Wave III نام دارد که روی آن نمایشگر لمسی 4 اینچی از نوع SuperAMOLED نصب شده است و از مهم‌ترین امکانات به کار رفته در آن می‌توان به دوربین دیجیتالی 5 مگاپیکسلی، Blutooth 3.0 و 3 گیگابایت حافظه داخلی اشاره کرد.

The boys over at Thisismynext.com are running quite the scoop with codename “Samsung Hercules.” With a possible arrival date of August this one has some time to mature but the Thisismynext crew has quite the spec breakdown:

4.5″ 480x800 Super AMOLED Plus display

NFC Support
42Mbps HSPA+ capable (category 24 HSDPA and category 6 HSUPA)
AWS plus 850/1900 MHz…they claim support for AT&T’s 4G will be here if the merger succeeds which interesting considering this phone is scheduled for August and the deal won’t close till next year?
Preliminary measurements of 5.16 x 2.76 x 0.37 inches, resembles the AT&T Infuse 4G
16GB internal ROM, 1GB internal RAM, expandable microSD memory up to 32GB

These are certainly some impressive specs and if they come to fruition will make for quite the beastly phone. This might be why Thisismynext claims this phone is tagged for the “over $350″ price category. Let’s see how this one develops.

Is This The Samsung Hercules, 4.5″ Of Android Dual-Core Awesomeness? s

Is it possible? Can it be? Are we looking at what is possibly the first sighting in the wild of the Samsung Hercules? At first glance it looks almost exactly like the Samsung Galaxy S 2, the Samsung model the Hercules is based off of. Except that this is a 4.5″ screen according to the folks at MobileSyrup who got their hands on the image courtesy of a tipster that attended a Samsung Mobile concert last night in Canada. Rumored to be the first 42Mbps smartphone in Canada rumor has it will take the very same honor here in the States. The Hercules sports an 8 megapixel camera on rear that shoots 1080i video along with a rumored 2 megapixel front facing camera. A noticeable absence in this picture is the optical trackpad the Galaxy S 2 has on board, instead showing off the standardized capacitive four button layout that is so common on Android devices these days.
We thought it would be worth pointing out an interesting comment on MobileSyrup that provides some food for thought that we could be looking at the Hercules:

TELUS seems to have a nack for snatching up T-Mo variants of phones but get them with 950/1900MHz 3G. They did it by getting the T-Mo’s version of the Galaxy S. They did it again with the T-Mo Galaxy S 4G. It only made sense that they would be getting the T-Mo rumored Hercules.

It’s hardly concrete information but we tend to believe that this commenter is on to something. At this point it would be incredibly preliminary to say for sure that this is the Samsung Hercules but seeing as how there is at least some noticeable difference between the Galaxy S 2 and the pictured model, we’ll just cross our fingers, click our heels three times and hope for the best.

Samsung Hercules Unveiled For T-Mobile, Galaxy S 2 Variant Confirmed

The vaunted Samsung Hercules is rumored to be T-Mobile’s first HSPA+ 42Mbps device and if nothing else about the device grabs your attention, that fact alone should. Up until this point it’s look, style, color and pretty much everything else has been a guessing game. Will it or won’t it be a Samsung Galaxy S 2 model or variant for T-Mobile has been a question we’ve been asking ourselves almost daily since word first came down that this device existed back in May with the leaked 2011 roadmap.
Well now we’ve got pics and what we consider to be pretty concrete evidence that this is in fact a Galaxy S 2 model since it says Galaxy S 2 on the backplate of the phone. That’s a dead giveaway if we have anything to say about it. Unfortunately none of these images shows off a lot about the phone including the Touchwiz Interface that is undoubtedly running over Android which we are so eager to see. We’ve got three pics for you along with a leaked shot that comes courtesy of Pocket Now this morning which shows the front of the Hercules which matches up quite nicely with our own shot of the front side.
So what do we know about it? Our ninja told us we are definitely looking at a 4.5″ inch display and the phone is fast, fast and fast. Netflix is preinstalled thankfully and we’re told it works like a charm. The messaging, email and calendar app are amazing and much better than the stock Google offerings.
That’s all for now but we know the phone is in the wild so let’s all cross our fingers for a much more in depth look at the Samsung Hercules sometime soon!

به گزارش آژانس خبری فناوری اطلاعات و ارتباطات، در دعوتنامه مربوط به این کنفرانس اعلام نشده که کدام یک از محصولات جدید معرفی خواهد شد، اما سامسونگ توضیح داده است که بهترین و قوی‌ترین گوشی هوشمند خود را در معرض دید عموم قرار خواهد داد.

برخی منابع خبری پیش‌بینی کرده‌اند که این گوشی پیشرفته و پرقدرت Galaxy S II خوهد بود. در تصویر مربوط به این کنفرانس نیز نام II آورده شده است که بر این اساس احتمال می‌رود این گوشی Galaxy S II باشد.

منابع خبری پیش‌بینی کرده‌اند که این گوشی هوشمند پردازنده دوهسته‌ای 1.5 گیگاهرتزی، دوربین دیجیتالی 8 مگاپیکسلی، نمایشگر چند-لمسی 4.5 اینچی و ... را در خود جا داده است.

Samsung Hercules and HTC Ruby hit T-Mobile US on 26 October

We just got the release dates of probably the two hottest devices to hit T-Mobile this year. Both the Samsung Hercules
and HTC Ruby leaked numerous times in the past few weeks, but only we get an estimate on their potential availability. A leaked T-Mobile presentation revealed that both Android smartphones are coming on 26 October.
Samsung Hercules is actually the T-Mobile US version of the Galaxy S II. The Hercules should be based on the same hardware (chipset, camera, etc.) as the international Galaxy S II, but it will reportedly come with a bigger 4.5" Super AMOLED Plus screen, NFC capabilities and 42Mbps HSPA+ .

Samsung Hercules and HTC Ruby
HTC Ruby sounds a lot like the upcoming HTC Vigor sporting a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor and a 4.3-inch display, but it is rumored to have qHD resolution rather than HD . The rest of the specs we know so far are the 8 megapixel rear and the 2 megapixel front cameras, 1GB RAM, Bluetooth 3.0 and category 24 HSDPA support.

Both HTC Ruby and Samsung Hercules are running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will come with the companies' latest UI customizations - Sense and TouchWiz.
A previous rumor suggested the Hercules price might be $300 with a contract, but there's no word of the pricing for either smartphone in this presentation.

Samsung Celox gets spyshot'd, LTE and new keys confirmed

The Samsung I9210 - Celox has, again been caught in the wild sporting the Korean SK Telecom's logo on its back. The Celox is a top dog device of the Galaxy S II variety, but will probably sport LTE radio to give unmatched download speeds.

The phone does feature 4 capacitive keys under its display, which is a layout different to what we saw in the previous leak. Back then the home button was a regular tactile feedback key, but obviously the design changed along the way.
Previous rumors suggested that the Celox will also feature a 4.5" SuperAMOLED Plus of WVGA resolution and a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 CPU. Last but not least, it'll run the TouchWiz UI 4.0 on top of Android 2.3 Gingerbread and have an 8 MP snapper on the back to seal the high-end deal.

Steve Kondik, the man behind the CyanogenMod team that makes custom ROMs for Android smartphones, has joined Samsung Mobile as a software engineer.

This information comes courtesy his Facebook profile where he recently changed his employer to 'Samsung Mobile'. Steve informed everyone that his side project CyanogenMod is not affiliated in any way with Samsung Mobile and thus development is likely to continue.
It's always nice to see small-time developers being hired by big companies for the good work they have done. We wish Steve all the best for the future.

Court lifts ban on Galaxy Tab 10.1 shipments outside Germany

Now that didn't last long. The German court has lifted the ban on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 shipments for the rest of the European counties. So as of now, the Korean company is free to resume the shipments of the slate through the rest of Europe.
Previously, Apple got a preliminary injunction, which banned the shipping of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the EU (except for Netherlands). The Cupertino-based company has filed another lawsuit in the Netherlands with a broader reach so it was excluded from their previous court request. The hearing there will be held in mid-September, while the one in the German court will take place on 25 August.

You might be wondering what made the German court change its mind so quickly and you'd be amused to know that it has nothing to do with new evidence popping up or any of the sides coming up with new stronger arguments. It turns out that the reason for the U-turn is that someone at the court realized that they don't have the competence to issue EU-wide bans on a company that's not registered in Germany.
That's why the German branch of Samsung is still prevented from shipping any Galaxy Tab 10.1 units, but its Korean parent company isn't.
Now the question that needs to be raised here is how come they realized they are not competent of making such decision after announcing it. It turns out that the German translation of the EU regulation is quite misleading and ambiguous, which led to the confusion, but certainly they could have tried to clarify it in advance.
Anyway, we'll be back with more news on this case after next week's hearing is over

Apple sued by HTC over three more patents

Here we go again. In a move that is hardly going to surprise anyone anymore, HTC has now decided to sue Apple over infringement of their patents and stop the import and sales of the Macintosh, iOS and other devices in the US. This move comes just a day after Google’s purchase of Motorola Mobility for a staggering $12.5 billion in cash.

HTC has claimed that Apple has infringed three of their patents, two of which HTC had purchased recently and third being their own creation. The patents are mostly regarding wireless technologies. HTC is seeking compensatory damages as well as triple damages for willful infringement.
Regardless of who is right or wrong here, we must say we are pretty tired of seeing companies battle each other in courtrooms instead of the market these days. Now the last thing we want to hear Apple, HTC or Samsung pushing back the launch of their next great phone because they were too busy suing each other.
