yep ,it is outer layer of lung but it has a special name ! do u know its name ?:d
i think it becomes too easy if i tell u the function of this layer :

The lungs are surrounded by two membranes, its outer layer (1) is attached to the chest and its inner layer (2) is attached to the lung and other visceral tissues In between the two is a thin space ,that is filled with special fluid , it helps to keep the two lungs away from each other and air tight, thus if one lung is punctured and collapses due to an accident, the other will still be air tight, and the other lung will work normally
