12 Paltrow: Jonathan's s.e.x jibes were 'very offensive'

by ANDREI HARMSWORTH - Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Gwyneth poses for this month's Elle magazine. Photos by Matt Jones

Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed her family were left 'very offended' after Jonathan Ross bragged he would '**** her'

The star revealed her family's anger as she spoke for the first time about the chat show host's lewd comments last April
Underfire Ross was branded 'gratuitous and not editorially justified' by the BBC trust after he quipped the star was 'clearly gagging for it'

Paltrow now says it was her husband Chris Martin's father, chartered accountant Anthony Martin, that was most offended.

.Hilarious to me. Very offensive to my father-in-law

.'The star told Elle magazine, it was 'hilarious to me. Very offensive to my father-in-law
.Meanwhile, ranting Gwyneth Paltrow has bitten back at critics of her lifestyle newsletter, Goop
The stressed star insists she's no square and defiantly declares: 'F**k the haters! I saw this blog of people writing horrible things about me and for a second your ego is so wounded,' the 36-year-old said
'How could people hate me, my intentions or what I'm trying to do? I'm a good person and I'm trying to put good things into the world.'
Paltrow has had her share of critics, who've branded her aloof and a bit of a prude.
She revealed: 'I'm probably less square than people think. I never get drunk to the point of throwing up. But I get very talkative.'
And Paltrow confessed to Elle that, despite her healthy lifestyle, she misses smoking terribly.
'Man, I wish smoking didn't kill you, I'd be smoking right now. I miss it,' she admitted.
She also shed light on her relationship with husband Chris Martin – and why they are never pictured together.
'It doesn't behove us to be a public couple. He certainly doesn't want to be that,' she explained.
'I mean, we've never ever walked down a red carpet together, we never will.'
Find out what else Paltrow has to say in the March issue of Elle magazine, on sale today

پيش فرض Brave Hudson lights up Super Bowl

    Monday, February 2, 2009

Jennifer Hudson make her first performance since the shooting

After one deep breath, Jennifer Hudson returned to the spotlight Sunday with a flawless performance of the national anthem before the American football championship game.
Wearing a flowing white top with black pants and a cropped black jacket, the 27-year-old singer/actress looked apprehensive when she first climbed onto the round blue stage on the field of Raymond James Stadium. Then she took the breath and launched into the anthem.
Hudson used the Super Bowl's massive television audience for her first public appearance since the October slayings in Chicago of her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew. Her estranged brother-in-law has been charged in the killings

When she returned to her dressing room, she anxiously asked pre-game show producer Rickey Minor "How did I do?"
."I told her 'Touchdown!"' Minor told The Associated Press after the performance
"This was such an important performance, because it's the first time everyone has seen Jennifer. But she's in such a great place, with such great spirits and time can heal her wounds. She's on fire right now and totally grounded."
Hudson's now expected to resume her active work schedule. Hudson, who won an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in "Dreamgirls," is scheduled to perform at next week's Grammy Awards.
And her new video for "If This Isn't Love" is set to debut the week of Feb. 9.
Hudson has yet to speak publicly about the slayings

10 ? Posh warming to Italian life

    Tuesday, February 3, 2009

victoria Beckham may be coming round to the idea of life in Italy, she admitted today

? Posh: coming round to Italian life

.Her husband David has been in excellent form since joining AC Milan on loan from LA Galaxy, scoring twice in four games
While the Italian giants have made no secret of their desire to hang on to him when the loan spell ends in March, Posh was thought to be cool on the idea of a permanent move to Italy

.But she told the Italian issue of Vanity Fair magazine: 'I am happy because I know he is happy at Milan
'It's great to see that he has already started to score goals in your tournament (Serie A - the top division of Italian football
'I like Milan a lot. I know so many people there, especially in the world of fashion: Dolce and Gabbana, Armani... The city is vibrant, full of energy and passion. You eat well. There are no reasons not to appreciate Milan.'
The 33-year-old former England captain is living in a hotel, and Posh told the magazine this was a 'good choice' while his future at the club was undecided.
.She admitted the couple's three sons - Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz - were a complicating factor
.'The children have stayed in Los Angeles,' she said. 'At the moment I am there with my parents
'I go back and forth between America, London and Milan

پيش فرض Actor James Whitmore dies

    Actor James Whitmore dies

(CNN) -- Craggy-faced film, television and stage actor James Whitmore has died at 87, the Los Angeles County, California, Sheriff's Department confirmed Saturday.

Actor James Whitmore, pictured in December 2006, had a 60-year career on stage, in films and on television.

Details of his death and funeral arrangements were not available.

Whitmore notably portrayed Harry Truman, Will Rogers and Theodore Roosevelt in one-man stage shows and created memorable characters in many movies and TV shows, including "The Twilight Zone."

According to entertainment Web site IMDb.com, Whitmore won a Tony award in 1948 for his gritty Broadway portrayal of an Army sergeant in "Command Decision" but was replaced by Van Johnson in the film version.

Whitmore won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the 1949 film "Battleground." He was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar in 1976 for "Give 'Em Hell, Harry," the film version of his one-man show about Truman.

The actor won an Emmy in 2000 for his performance as Raymond Oz in a three-episode arc on the ABC legal drama "The Practice," according to IMDb.com.

Movie fans may remember his subtle portrayal of aging prison inmate Brooks Hatlen in 1994's "The Shawshank Redemption" with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.

He played U.S. Navy Adm. William F. Halsey in the World War II epic "Tora! Tora! Tora!" and was an imperious ape in the 1968 classic "Planet of the Apes."

Whitmore looked natural in cowboy boots and hat, appearing in such TV series as "Bonanza," "The Virginian" and "Gunsmoke."

He also did commercials for Miracle-Gro plant foods.

According to IMDb.com, Whitmore was born in 1921 in White Plains, New York. He was married four times: twice to Nancy Mygatt, for four years in the '70s to actress Audra Lindley, and since 2001 to actress Noreen Nash.

He was the father of three children, including actor-director James Whitmore Jr.

پيش فرض Plant, Krauss win 4 Grammys; Brown investigated

AP – Robert Plant, left, and Alison Krauss accept the award for best pop collaboration with vocals at the

LOS ANGELES – Robert Plant and Alison Krauss' unorthodox musical partnership yielded rich rewards on Grammy night, as the pair won a leading four Grammys, including record of the year for the haunting "Please Read The Letter."

At the same moment that the show was going on, teen heartthrob and double Grammy nominee Chris Brown was talking with detectives about an alleged felony assault on an unidentified woman the night before. Police records showed he was being held on $50,000 bail.

Brown and longtime girlfriend Rihanna, also nominated, were both slated to perform in different slots of the show, but separately dropped out at the last minute. The victim of Brown's alleged assault wasn't identified, and it wasn't immediately clear whether Rihanna's absence was related to Brown's.

Jennifer Hudson was there, however, and provided the night's most emotional moments onstage. The Oscar winner took her first Grammy award — for best R&B album — for her self-titled debut.

Hudson, 27, made no direct reference to the October killings of her mother, brother and nephew that kept her in seclusion until just this month. But while fighting back tears, she made it clear that her family was foremost on her mind.

"I first would like to thank God who has brought me through. I would like to thank my family in heaven and those who are with me today.

Hudson later performed "You Pulled Me Through," a dramatic song about overcoming deep despair, with the lyrics: "When I was drowning, when I was so confused, you, you pulled me through." As she sang the last note, she looked directly into the camera and dissolved into tears once again.

There were no tears as Krauss and Plant accepted their awards for their emotion-rich CD, "Raising Sand." The pairing of the former Led Zeppelin rocker and Krauss, a bluegrass queen, may have seemed downright weird on paper, but the T Bone Burnett-produced album was universally acclaimed.

Plant said "Please Read The Letter" was "an old song that me and Jimmy Page wrote together post Led Zeppelin, and it's been given that Nashville touch, and it feels pretty good."

The Grammy telecast was filled with eye-popping and eyebrow-raising performances, from Radiohead's collaboration with a college marching band to a televised black-and-white throwback performance from Jay-Z, T.I., Lil Wayne, Kanye West and a very pregnant M.I.A.

But the absences of Brown and Rihanna put a huge hole in the Grammy telecast. Rihanna was supposed to sing "Live Your Life/Disturbia" as the second performance of the night, Brown was later to sing "Forever." Each was nominated in the pop collaboration with vocals category, Brown for "No Air" with "American Idol" champion Jordin Sparks; and Rihanna for "If I Never See Your Face Again" with Maroon 5.

Brown was also nominated for male R&B vocal performance for "Take You Down."

Neither won a Grammy on Sunday, and the Recording Academy found able replacements for their performance slots in Justin Timberlake, Al Green, Boyz II Men and Keith Urban as they all sang Green's classic hit, "Let's Stay Together." No mention was made on the broadcast about the switch.

According to the police report, released 90 minutes before the show began Sunday, Brown and a woman were in a vehicle in the ritzy neighborhood of Hancock Park when they began to argue around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Brown stopped the car and both got out, whereupon the argument escalated, the report said.

The woman, who had visible injuries when police arrived, identified Brown as her attacker, but he had left the scene, the report said.

With all the drama going on onstage and behind the scenes, the awards seemed almost like an afterthought — but the show went on. Coldplay and Lil Wayne each won three Grammys apiece — Coldplay's win included song of the year for "Viva La Vida."

"We've never had so many Grammys in our life," said lead singer Chris Martin, perhaps so excited he got confused (they had already won four over the years). "We feel so grateful to be here. I'm going to tear up."

British singer Adele was also teary, as she beat the Jonas Brothers, Lady Antebellum, Jazmine Sullivan and fellow Brit singer Duffy to nab best new artist. It was her second award of the evening.

"Thank you so much. I'm going to cry. I want to thank my manager, my mom, she's in London. And Duffy I love you. I think you're amazing. Jonas Brothers, I love you as well," she said, saying the last part with a devilish look, eliciting laughter.

It was Adele's second award; she earlier won for best female pop vocal.

Lil Wayne was the nominations leader with eight, and won best rap solo performance for "A Milli," rap song for "Lollipop" and rap/sung collaboration for "Swagga Like Us," an all-star song featuring Jay-Z, T.I. and Kanye West.

But the prolific rapper won't be going home with eight trophies; he was competing against himself in two categories that he won and lost another. He still has a chance to win the evening's top prize, album of the year, for his best-selling disc "Tha Carter III."
Plant and Krauss, also nominated for album of the year for their collaboration "Raising Sand," took home an award for country collaborations with vocals and contemporary folk/Americana album. They later won a third for pop collaboration with vocals

AP reporters Natalie Rotman, Beth Harris and Jacob Adelman contributed to this story.

10 Slumdog storms to Bafta triumph

by ANDREI HARMSWORTH - Sunday, February 8, 2009

. Slumdog Millionaire dominated the Bafta film awards last night, winning seven prizes in all

Slumdog star Freida Pinto greets fans at last night’s ceremony

The feelgood movie about a poor boy competing in the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? was named best film and Danny Boyle won the best director prize
Boyle, who directed Trainspotting, picked up his personal prize from Sir Mick Jagger. Earlier he said of his success: 'It's pretty nice. I thought I'd never want to do a film about a game show

Kate Winslet was another British winner, scooping the leading actress award for her performance in The Reader

Kate Winslet walked away with the Best Leading Actress trophy

The 33-year-old managed to get through her speech without crying, telling the audience it means 'a great deal to me'.
Winslet's latest victory makes her a firm favourite for a first Oscar in a fortnight's time. But many fans were left disappointed as she rushed past them on the red carpet last night to keep her Zac Posen designer dress dry as the heavens opened. Slumdog actress Freida Pinto added a touch of Bollywood glamour by turning out in diamante Jimmy Choo heels at the event in central London.
'I am enjoying being here with so many stars that have inspired me,' she said.
Slumdog's main rival, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt, won awards in three technical categories.
This meant that Pitt and his partner Angelina Jolie were both left empty-handed at the Orange-sponsored awards.
Pitt, 45, was nominated in the leading and supporting actor awards while 33-year-old Jolie - star of Changeling - lost out to Winslet.
Mickey Rourke trumped Pitt and British Slumdog actor Dev Patel to scoop the best actor prize for The Wrestler
