Windows 8 Codecs یک بسته کدک صوتی و ویدئویی برای استفاده در ویندوز 8 می‌باشد. با نصب این کدک در ویندوز 8 فایل‌هایی با پسوند amr، mpc، ofr، Divx، mka، apa، flac، Flv، MKV، Rmvb، Xvid و ...توسط پخش کننده ویندوز 8 به راحتی اجرا می‌شوند. این برنامه با اضافه کردن فایل‌هایی مثل MKV به پلیر ویندوز 8 تنها با استفاده از راست کلیک کردن امکان نمایش فوری این فایل‌ها را فراهم می‌کند. از دیگر قابلیت‌های این برنامه امکان فعال کردن خاصیت پیش نمایش برای فایل‌هایی مثل MKV و FLV و فایل‌های جدید دیگر می‌باشد.این برنامه همچنین قابل استفاده در ویندوز 7 نیز میباشد.
