St. Petersburg, Russia — August 16, 2012. Agnitum, the PC security expert and manufacturer of the Outpost range of security products, today announces the acquisition of antivirus technology and infrastructure from its long-term partner VirusBuster. From now on, Outpost security solutions will be supported by its own virus lab operating from the corporate headquarters in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Originally founded as a firewall company, Agnitum has been licensing VirusBuster’s antivirus technology and including it in Outpost software since 2006. Over the past six years, Agnitum has developed a number of modules that have enhanced the functionality of the VirusBuster Software Development Kit — behavior based detection, on-access, on-demand, speed-up of repeated scans, email and web filtering, and more. These enhancements have significantly contributed to Agnitum’s run of 12 successive Virus Bulletin (VB100) awards.
"We have reached the point where we cannot add further enhancements to the antivirus technology in the context of a licensing relationship," says Agnitum’s Managing Director Mikhail Zakhryapin. "To that end, we have concluded an agreement with VirusBuster to acquire the exclusive rights to their technology, virus database, and antivirus processes. As a consequence of this acquisition, we have also opened an antivirus laboratory in our home town of Saint Petersburg, Russia, where the VirusBuster technology will be maintained and developed."
VirusBuster will cease the maintenance and development of the antivirus technology, effective October 1, 2012. Agnitum is offering consumers with a currently-valid license for VirusBuster antivirus software a transition to the equivalent Outpost solution at no cost for the remainder of the current VirusBuster license term. اگنیتوم پس از قرار دادن امکانات بسیاری بر روی محصول شرکت همکار خود ، یعنی VirusBuster ، رسما بیان کرد که ما به نقطه ای رسیدیم که دیگه بیشتر ازین نمیتونیم به ویروس باستر امکانات بدیم مگر اینکه اگنیتوم هم روی ویروس باستر حق مالکیت داشته باشه.
بر این اساس ازین به بعد تکنولوژی ویروس باستر در اختیار اگنیتوم خواهد بود ، و آزمایشگاه بدافزارش هم رسما در روسیه سن پترزبورگ تحت نظر اگنیتوم راه اندازی شد.
اگنیتوم قرار است که به شدت روی ویروس باستر کار کنه.
