Ronaldinho Not Injured, But...
Ronaldinho's inability to train on Monday for longer than just a few minutes raised eyebrows, and today's revelations that he was apparently not injured at all will do so to an even greater extent...
The Brazilian star has been complaining of pain in his right leg, which prevented him from playing against Almeria at the weekend and from training with normality on Monday.
This lack of action has also rendered him doubtful for the Thursday trip to Valencia for the Copa del Rey semi-final.
In light of these troubles, the blaugrana medical services yesterday subjected him to an MRI scan, with Sport.es recounting the document:
"Given the continuing muscle discomfort, the player has undergone a scan that has revealed that there is no muscle or tendon injury."
Sport took that to be a blunt statement that Ronaldinho is a malingerer, but the report did continue:
"The player will receive clinical treatment to remedy the inconvenience that he feels."
This report is publicly available and is not a "leaked" document, meaning that the club's medical staff and hierarchy have no qualms with the world hearing that Ronaldinho is not injured.
All In The Mind?
The Spanish sports daily went on to suggest that Ronaldinho's problems are mainly psychosomatic.
Indeed, his left knee injury earlier in the year was apparently more serious in his head than it was in actuality, yet it kept him away from action for around a month.
It has been further speculated that Ronaldinho was one of a few players who were the worse for wear on Thursday morning after Lionel Messi's going-away party on Wednesday night.
Coach Frank Rijkaard has already shown signs of losing patience with 'Dinho, but Barcelona generally will defend him publicly.
Whether or not they'll select him is another matter.
