Start with yourself
The following words were written on the tomb of an Anglican Bishop in the Crypts of Westminster Abbey:
When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world. As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.
But it, too, seemed immovable.
As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.
And now as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: if I had only changed my self first, then by example I would have changed my family.
From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have able to better my country and, who knows; I may have even changed the world.
از خودت شروع کن
کلمات زیر روی قبر یک اسقف انگلیسی در صومعه ای غربی نوشته شده بود:
وقتی جوان بودم و تخیلاتم نامحدود بود فکر تغییر دادن جهان را در سر داشتم. وقتی بزرگتر و عاقل تر شدم دریافتم که جهان تغییر نخواهد کرد
ڀس هدفم را کوچک تر کردم و تصمیم گرفتم که کشور خود را تغییر دهم.
اما این هم همچنان دست نیافتنی به نظر می رسید.
وقتی که سنم بیشتر شد ناباورانه سعی کردم خانواده ام را که نزدیک ترین افراد به من هستند تغییر دهم. اما افسوس که این هم شدنی نبود.
و حالا که در بستر مرگ خفته ام به یکباره دریافتم که: اگر اول خودم را تغییر داده بودم می توانستم در ادامه خانواده ام را تغییر دهم.
با تاثیرات و تشفیقات خانواده قادر بودم کشورم را تغییر دهم. و از کجا معلوم شاید می توانستم جهان را نیز تغییر دهم.
