As a huge 360 fan, hopefully I can answer the question without sounding like a PS3 fanboy... The PS3 has HDMI 1.3a while the 360 has HDMI 1.2, essentially the pertinent difference being that
1.3 is capable of 8.16Gb data transfer while 1.2 is only capable of 3.96Gb. Theoretically this means that the PS3 could pipe two 1080p images through to the TV (see

for more info on HDMI). I
n reality, the PS3 GPU (RSX) is not really powerful enough to do this and already struggles with 1080p because of a relatively small amount of RAM (256MB). Plus the throughput of the BluRay drive is barely higher than a single 1080p stream, so movies streamed from BluRay won't be dual-eye 1080p on this generation (though games and HD movies downloaded to the hard drive wouldn't have that limitation). Most likely the only 3D we'll be seeing this generation is a dual 1080i image,
which still looks great but is possible on HDMI 1.2 so the 360 can also do this.
Interestingly, only HDMI 1.4 really includes 3D. Everything prior to 1.4 is a sort of compromise. The next generation TVs and consoles that support 1.4 will probably be when all this is really embraced on a wider scale.
