Cyrus To Celebrate Her Sweet 16 At The American Music Awards

Miley Cyrus is set to turn this year's American Music Awards into a birthday bash by signing up to perform at the prizegiving.
The pop sensation turns 16 on the same day as the AMAs and many expected her to spend the day with family and friends - but she's keen to work.
She'll join Mariah Carey, Coldplay, Kanye West, Jonas Brothers, Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Taylor Swift, who are also performing at the the 36th annual AMAs. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, is among the night's presenters.
She says, "I am so excited to be able to perform live for my fans at the American Music Awards and celebrate my Sweet 16 too."
The event will cap a big week for the teenager, who will lead the 82nd annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on 27 November. l

Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan has decided to buy a house in Los Angeles - because she is sick of living in hotels.
The Mean Girls star has been staying at the city's exclusive Chateau Marmont for nearly two years.
But she is determined to finally sort her finances out and buy herself a property.
Lohan tells Harper's Bazaar magazine, "I still need to be in charge of taking care of myself and getting my s**t in line and buying a house.
"I was living (at the Chateau) for almost two years. Who blows that much money on a hotel? I could have bought a house!" l

Police Quiz Extra On Bardem Set

Filming on Javier Bardem's new movie Biutiful was halted after police detained one of the extras on suspicion of illegal trading.
The unnamed actor was filming a scene as a street seller in Barcelona, Spain when a local cop seized his goods and began questioning him, unaware that the area was being used as a film set.
After realising their mistake, the officer released the extra and allowed Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez to continue work.
Following the incident, a police spokesperson claimed the force was not informed the film crew was shooting in the area. l

Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan is adamant her relatives approve of her l*esbian relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson - despite her father recently criticising the union.
The Mean Girls star has been romantically linked to the British star since they were spotted kissing and cuddling at a party in Cannes, France earlier this year.
And the 22-year-old was furious when her father, Michael, publicly denounced her affair with Ronson - sparking a bitter war of words with his daughter.
But Lohan admits that despite her father Michael's objections, her mother, Dina, and sister, Ali, are pleased for her.
She tells Harper's Bazaar magazine, "It's never really come up as an issue. We're close; we've been through a lot. They're supportive of me whether I'm with a guy or a girl. They're just supportive of me as a person.
"Ali's known Samantha for a really long time. And she's like, 'Whatever it is, I support you. I probably won't ever do what it is you're doing, but I'm happy for you.' Ali's very m*ature. I've told her that it's okay to like a boy or a girl if you're comfortable with it and it's something you believe you want to do. And I told her not to be afraid of who she wants to be."l

Jennifer Aniston was unable to break off her relationship with rocker John Mayer because they simply "adore one another."
The couple split at the end of the summer, with the singer telling the press, "I don't want to waste somebody's time if something's not right."
But the pair recently decided to give their romance another try, because after the break-up they were unable to stay away from each other.
She tells U.S. magazine Vogue, "It's funny when you hit a place in a relationship and you both realise we maybe need to do something else, but you still really, really love each other. It's painful. There was no malicious intent. I deeply, deeply care about him; we talk, we adore one another. And that's where it is..
And the former Friends star insists that she is not bitter about Mayer's decision to talk to the media about their relationship, adding: "He had to put that out there that he broke up with me. And especially because it's me. It's not just some girl he.s dating. I get it. We're human. But I feel seriously protective of him and us." l

Box office hits Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda are already early frontrunners for next year's Academy Award nominations.
Both films have been shortlisted for the best animated feature Oscar, in a category that will see 14 pictures battle it out for three final slots to compete for the coveted award.
Other films shortlisted in the category include Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, Dr Seuss' Horton Hears A Who!, Bolt, Igor, Fly Me to the Moon and animated documentary Waltz with Bashir.
This year's awards saw the honour go to Pixar's Ratatouille.
The award will be announced at the annual ceremony in Hollywood on 22 February. l

The Crazy In Love hitmaker stars as iconic singer Etta James in the movie, which documents the history of one of America's most famous record labels.
And Knowles feared she would ruin her 'good girl' image by playing James, who battled numerous drug addictions throughout her life.
But the singer is delighted with the end result, insisting the role has actually had a positive effect on her.
She tells Billboard magazine: "I realised that Etta James was so unapologetic, bold and strong that playing her was a big risk for me. It gave me the confidence and the push to challenge myself a little more with my music" l

Big Daddy star Adam Sandler has become a father for the second time - his wife has given birth to a baby girl.
The actor and wife Jackie welcomed Sunny Madeline into the world earlier this month - and the funnyman is over the moon at the latest addition to his family.
A statement on Sandler's website says, "Jackie and Adam had a beautiful baby girl, Sunny Madeline, on November 2. Everyone is happy and healthy."
The couple, who wed in 2003, already have a daughter, two-year-old Sadie.l

The two actor/singers also teamed up in the recording studio to perform the theme for the new animated movie, and Travolta admits he hasn't seen a star sparkle like Cyrus since he fell for Newton-John during their late 1970s movie musical Grease.

Jennifer Aniston has branded her split from ex-husband Brad Pitt "amicable" - and insists she feels "warm and respectful" of the actor.
The couple split in 2005 - but Pitt's current partner Angelina Jolie recently revealed they fell in love on the set of 2005 movie Mr And Mrs Smith.
Aniston blasted Jolie as "uncool" for the revelation - but the former Friends actress has put the pain of the divorce behind her.
She tells U.S. Vogue magazine, "I've got to tell you, it's so vague at this point, it's so faraway in my mind, I can't even remember the darkness. I mean, in the end, we really had an amicable split."
And it was a heart-to-heart telephone conversation soon after the couple parted that helped heal the scars of the break-up.
The actress adds, "Pretty soon after we separated, we got on the phone and we had a long, long conversation with each other and said a lot of things, and ever since we've been unbelievably warm and respectful of each other."
Aniston is currently dating singer John Mayer. l

Of the split, Mayer said, "People are different, people have different chemistry. I ended a relationship to be alone, because I don't want to waste somebody's time if something's not right," and immediately regretted speaking out, according to Aniston.
She tells Vogue magazine, "Trust me, you'll never see that happen again from that man."
And, as for people who can't believe Aniston and Mayer are a couple, the actress rages, "People need to mind their own business! Did you ever think Claudia Schiffer and David Copperfield made sense?

No Oscar For Dark Knight Score
The Dark Knight’s score, which to
Empire’s ears is one of the best, if not the best, of the year, has been disqualified from consideration for next year’s Academy Awards.
The executive committee of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science’s music branch made the decision after failing to be suitably satisfied that the score’s composers, James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer, were directly responsible for more than 70% of the music.
That’s because – in a show of generosity and solidarity – Zimmer and Howard, who collaborated on the
Batman Begins soundtrack, listed three other people as composers on the official cue sheet, the document that specifies every piece of music in the film.
The other three were music editor Alex Gibson, ambient music designer Mel Wesson and composer Lorne Balfe, who were added to the cue sheet primarily, according to Zimmer, to qualify them for royalties.
Despite the fact, though, that the trio reportedly signed an affidavit stating that the score was primarily the work of Howard and Zimmer, the majority of the committee voted that the score should be disqualified.
In a way, we shouldn’t be too surprised – after all, the same issue befell
Batman Begins three years ago. But we should be dismayed that such a wonderful score, with its cutting-edge sound design and an instantly iconic Joker cue, won’t be recognised.
To be fair, the debate took up a fair chunk of the music committee’s time, with some members arguing that the score should be included, so hats off to them. And, with the practice of multiple composers on the rise, we’re sure that at some point the rules will change

The still untitled feature is said to follow an "end-of-the-empire tone" rather than the foreign policy-focused follow-up to "Fahrenheit 9/11" that was originally planned. Even Moore calls if more of a "bookend to 'Roger & Me'" in reference to his breakthrough debut effort nearly two decades ago.
However, with the crisis changing from day to day and a renewed sense of hope thanks to Obama's election, critics are wondering if Moore's style will still hit with audiences by the time it gets released.
Moore is rushing forward with filming at present and the movie is expected to come out as early as the Spring.

Steve Carell Is Quite "Despicable"
Steve Carell will voice the title character in Universal's 3-D CG-animated feature "Despicable Me" says Variety.
Carell's title character is a deplorable man known as Groo who masterminds the mother of all heists when he plots to steal the moon.
Egged on by an evil mother (Julie Andrews), Groo finds one obstacle in his way: a trio of orphan girls who temporarily come under his care and won't leave.
Jason Segel, Kristen Wiig, Will Arnett, Danny McBride, Russell Brand, Jemaine Clement ("Flight of the Conchords") and Jack McBrayer ("30 Rock") also lend their voices.
"Horton Hears a Who" scribes Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio penned the script. Chris Meledandri, Janet Healy and John Cohen will produce while Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin will direct. A 2010 release is planned.

The book is a collection of first person accounts of various survivors from around the globe a decade after a zombie pandemic first emerged from the Three Gorges Dam area in China in the 2010s and proceeded to decimate the globe.
The accounts involve not just some diverse stories of battles for survival, but the religious, geo-political, and environmental implications that came with the plague.
"Changeling" scribe and "Babylon 5" creator J. Michael Straczynski is writing the screenplay, and Brad Pitt's Plan B is producing.

del Toro Produces Grimly's "Pinocchio"
Guillermo del Toro is set to produce both a stop-motion version of Gris Grimly’s "Pinocchio" according to Bloody Disgusting
Grimly is a Los Angeles-based artist and storyteller famed for his darkly whimsical children's books which include his take on Carlo Collodi's famous wooden boy creation.
del Toro says "The idea came from Gris, and everybody loves his book about it. The original story is far more perverse and spooky and semi-necrophilia vibe to it in certain aspects. Gris certainly has that vein in him, he wants to do this with that original spookiness in it, we are trying to get it going.
He adds that the Jim Henson Company is the behind this film and are currently working on the screenplay. Grimly himself will direct.

Review: "Quantum of Solace"
Following up one of the best Bond films made with one of the worst, 'Quantum' is nothing less than a crushing disappointment - a barely plotted, poorly filmed, hyper-edited and most of all utterly flat vehicle that commits a crime far worse than even Roger Moore's outlandish last few films - it makes James Bond dull.
It's interesting in the way that this new incarnation of Bond is mirroring a pattern created by one of his predecessors, Timothy Dalton, two decades ago. Like Daniel Craig, Dalton came onto a franchise that had become a punch line and in his very strong first effort, "The Living Daylights", delivered a serious and contemporary Bond that still kept many of the hallmarks which made it work (gadgets, naughty humor, exotic locales, elaborate villains, well-filmed action set pieces). His disappointing follow-up "Licence to Kill" however ditched that in favor of a more realistic and smaller-scope story of 007 going off the grid for revenge against a Central-American drug dealer. The end result was a rather generic 80's Joel Silver-style action film that almost sunk the franchise in spite of a few commendable qualities (such as Robert Davi's effective villain).
Just shy of twenty years on a similar situation has occurred, although this time the franchise is in no such economic jeopardy. "Casino Royale" brilliantly brought the Bond film franchise into the 21st century - well cast, smartly written and deftly directed, it ground Bond in a more serious and modern tone but held tight to the character quirks and light touch of male fantasy which made the films work. 'Solace' ditches all that, opting for the already rather common format of action movies this decade - a cold, brutal loner with a tortured past and no personality out for revenge (preferably drawn out across several serialized sequels). It would be fine if he had either a compelling story or emotional arc to follow but in this case he has neither - prompting the film to play out very much like the flat middle act of a much larger film.
The most glaring surface fault is also its most obvious influence - the hyper-kinetic filming & editing style of the Paul Greengrass-directed "Bourne" sequels. Like it or not that film series signature style of sacrificing clarity, character depth and scope for relentless intensity has become a frustratingly copied trend by lazy filmmakers to pull in a Redbull-addicted generation brought up on 'blink and you're dead' FPS video games. The doubly bad news is that the lifting here seems to come from the confusingly shot 'Supremacy' rather than its more cinematically effective follow-up 'Ultimatum' where Greengrass acknowledged a need for wider establishing shots, less jittery camera operators, and cuts of more than two seconds length so we as an audience could follow the action.

Summit Plans Two "Twilight" Sequels
"Twilight" scribe Melissa Rosenberg will also adapt the scripts for films based on second and third books "New Moon" and "Eclipse". No-one is yet attached to adapt the fourth novel "Breaking Dawn."
"Twilight" revolves around the relationship between an average teenage girl, Bella, and a vampire, Edward. In "New Moon," Edward leaves Bella, sending Bella into a depression and a friendship with another vampire.
In the third book, "Eclipse," that relationship triangle evolves, while evil empires begin to pursue Bella. "Breaking Dawn" pushes the plot further with a marriage between Bella and Edward.

U.S. actress Lindsay Lohan has been pelted with a flour bomb on arrival at a Paris nightclub wearing a fur stole
Animal rights activists showered the 22-year-old actress with flour when she went to the VIP Room Theater in the early hours of Saturday with her friend, disc jockey Samantha Ronson.
The owner of the nightclub helped Lohan dust off her blue sequined dress and black stole before she posed on the red carpet. Ronson went on to spin tracks for a crowd that included reggae rapper Shaggy and "I Kissed a Girl" singer Katy Perry.

The spy thriller, starring Daniel Craig, raked in $7.68 million (GBP5.16 million) over the last weekend (14-16Nov08) to stay at number one - leaving new release Max Payne trailing in second place with $1.49 (GBP1 million).
High School Musical 3: Senior Year slips one spot to three with $1.45 million (GBP970,000), while Zack and Miri Make a Porno and Ghost Town round out the top five with $1.17 million (GBP790,000) and $879,000 (GBP590,000) respectively. l

Baron Cohen's Bruno Disrupts Medium Set

Production on Patricia Arquette's hit TV drama Medium came to a halt on 7 November when comic Sacha Baron Cohen invaded the set as his fashion reporter creation Bruno.
Filming was temporarily shut down as Baron Cohen, posing as an extra, was forcibly removed from the set after interrupting a tense courtroom scene.
An insider for the show tells Ew.com, "No one had a clue it was Sacha playing Bruno. It's amazing he was able to infiltrate the set and pull this off."
It's not the first time Cohen has hit the headlines for his crazy antics this year - he has been disrupting fashion shows, political rallies and launches all over the globe, filming guerrilla segments for his new film Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heteros*exual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a G*ay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt. l

Katie Holmes jetted home to Los Angeles after a recent performance in New York - so she could celebrate her second year of marriage with husband Tom Cruise.
Holmes took off to the west coast after Sunday's matinee performance of her hit Broadway play All My Sons.
The couple reportedly spent a quiet evening at their L.A. home on Monday before the actress had to rush back for her regular Tuesday show.
Cruise and Holmes married on 18 November 2006 in a star-studded ceremony in Italy - to the dismay of critics, sceptical their relationship was a mere publicity stunt.
In an interview last year, Cruise said of the lavish wedding, "As big as it was from the outside, it was a very personal experience and something obviously I'll never forget."
The pair was reportedly joined by their two-year-old daughter, Suri, and Cruise's adopted children from his marriage to Nicole Kidman - Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13 - to mark the event.l

Howard Banned From Filming In Catholic Churches

Da Vinci Code director Ron Howard had to shoot the movie's forthcoming prequel using imitations of the Catholic churches in the storyline - after the Vatican banned him from all of its holy buildings.
The first movie's portrayal of the Catholic church angered the religion's heads, who were in no mood to cooperate when Howard headed to Rome, Italy this year to shoot an adaptation of author Dan Brown's 2000 book Angels + Demons, which is set in the Vatican City.

Teen star Miley Cyrus has launched an attack on the internet hacker who broke into her YouTube account and falsely claimed she had died in a car crash.
A video was uploaded onto Cyrus' official page on the video sharing website on Sunday, telling fans she was the victim of a drink driving accident.
The allegations upset her friends and family, who quickly denied the claims - blaming the incident on an internet hacker.
But the 15-year-old insists she's grown accustomed reading fictional stories written about her.
Pretending to be unaware of the event, she jokes with TV reporters on E!, "What happened? Did I die, like, bungee jumping, getting bulldozed, what happened this time? I got hit by a drunk driver! Ok, good. Wait. What? On my Web page? No. My Web page got hacked?"
When details were cleared up, Cyrus admitted she was "ticked" at the culprit behind the computer screen.
She added, "I'm gonna, like, smack 'em!" l

Michael Jackson is too sick to travel to London to testify in a lawsuit with an Arab sheikh, according to his attorney.
The singer's lawyer Robert Englehart told the High Court in London on Tuesday that Jackson is awaiting test results on a mystery illness and wants to give evidence via video link from the United States.
Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa of Bahrain is suing the Thriller hitmaker for $7 million (GBP4.6 million) - claiming Jackson reneged on an agreement to produce an album, autobiography and stage play.
Jackson denies the claims and insists any monies given to him were as a gift.
Judge Nigel Sweeney has now adjourned the case until Thursday to allow time for medical experts from both legal teams to discuss Jackson's condition.
However, if no satisfactory outcome is reached, Jackson could be forced to appear in court in person. l

Comedian Al Franken's opponent for a for a U.S. Senate seat in Minnesota has lashed out at the star for meeting with Congress leaders pending a vote recount.
The former Saturday Night Live star beat six opponents to take the Democratic nomination with 66 per cent of the public vote in the state's primary election in September.
He has been accused by Republican Senator Norm Coleman - who leads by 206 votes - of acting pre-emptively by meeting with Senate Democratic leaders on Tuesday - two weeks after the general election.
Coleman's spokesman tells the New York Post, "It is highly presumptuous for Mr. Franken to undertake such a visit when his real purpose appears to be fundraising and gaining partisan advantage from non-Minnesotans."
The manual recount to certify the final outcome starts on Wednesday. l

De Niro's Chef Threatens Lawsuit

Bosses at a New York restaurant owned by Robert De Niro have denied plans to replace their head chef - after the cook threatened to take him to court.
Managers at De Niro's Ago restaurant reportedly intended to replace Executive Chef Mirco del Vecchio with Jean-Georges Vongerichten in January amid poor reviews from food critics.
But del Vecchio says the alleged switch would violate both written and verbal contracts he has with De Niro.
His lawyer Salvatore Strazzullo tells the New York Post, "We're looking for damages in the $3 million (GBP2 million) area."
However, a manager at Ago denies the claims, adding: "It's absolutely not true that we are planning on replacing del Vecchio. He is a dear friend." l

Jennifer Love Hewitt has called in the police after her trailer on the set of TV show Ghost Whisperer was broken into last week (ends14Nov08).
The actress lost a number of personal items in the burglary, which occurred during filming at the Universal Studios lot in Hollywood.
Website TMZ.com reports cops are now investigating the break-in, although it is unknown whether Love Hewitt was on set during the incident.
