Peaches Geldof has confessed she married musician Max Drummey on the spur of the moment and never thought it was 'going to last for ever'.
The socialite, who tied the knot in Las Vegas this summer after a whirlwind road trip with her lover, said their affair was 'like the sort of archaic romance that you only ever read about'.
'He's amazing. He has this magnetism – I suppose I fell under his spell. I had this huge bond with him,' she said
'He told me, “I don't want you to go back to London. I don't want to lose this bond with you. Why don't we just take a trip to Vegas and do something like get married?”. I was like, “Hell, yeah”.'
But she added: 'I didn't go into it thinking this is going to last for ever. But I did go into it thinking I love him right now.'
The 19-year-old formed a bond with the 24-year-old member of Chester French on MySpace during a 'difficult time' with then boyfriend Faris Badwan.
Soon after, she fled to the US saying she felt 'trapped at home'. Then came the road trip.
'We were just travelling across America, visiting weird towns. It was really fun and I felt so free,' Geldof said.
And when Drummey popped the question, she thought: 'This is amazing and a little bit nuts but I've fallen in love with him, so why not?'
The sometime TV presenter also told Heat magazine that her father, Sir Bob, fully backed the wedding – despite reports to the contrary.
'He said, “I think it's a bit silly because you're very young but I'm happy for you and if you love him, that's a really good thing
Freeman: I made 'bad choices'
Monday, October 20, 2008
Former Emmerdale actor Ben Freeman today said he now plans to return to work, after being cleared of raping a 16-year-old British girl in Barbados.
Freeman, who played mechanic Scott Windsor in the ITV soap, said that while he had not done anything illegal, he had made "bad choices".
The actor, who has had a tough time financially while clearing his name, wants to go back to work - and said he would consider talks with Emmerdale bosses if he were approached
Freeman denied raping the girl after they met at an exclusive holiday resort on the Caribbean island on November 29, 2006.
The 28-year-old actor said he knew the girl, who is from Cheshire, was 16 at the time but said she never resisted his advances as he denied the charge at the High Court in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The jury took 90 minutes to reach a unanimous not guilty verdict last week.
In an interview with ITV's This Morning, Freeman said he was "glad" it was all over.
He said he was not angry at the girl and was not looking for "retribution".
Freeman continued: "I do have to say that I made a lot of bad choices that I put myself in a position where someone can say that about me.
"The important point is that I didn't do anything illegal but it was silly."
Freeman was accused of raping the girl on a poolside sunlounger while they were staying with their families at the same hotel in Barbados two years ago.
During the trial, he broke down in tears as he told the court she never resisted his advances, according to local newspaper reports.
Freeman said the public reaction had been "fantastic" adding: "I've not had an awful lot of bad feeling."
He said people had approached him to wish him well.
Freeman said: "I just wanted to thank everybody really for being so fantastic. Everyone at work, at Emmerdale has been absolutely brilliant."
He said the last couple of years had been "hard financially".
Freeman added: "My mission for the last two years has been to clear my name... now that's over... I would obviously like to get back to work, whatever work that is.
"I've not really spoken to anyone at Emmerdale and I don't know whether they even would consider taking me back but I would think about it if they wanted to have a talk, so we'll see

Kate Moss fights her way through the crowd
Just a day after she vowed to give up booze, Kate Moss has been spotted out partying again.
The supermodel was snapped tottering about unsteadily in Soho last night at the preview of the still-to-be-completed Dean Street Townhouse Club.
Her late night shenanigans come after she promised on/off boyfriend Jamie Hince she was giving up her wild ways.
She was reported to have vowed not to touch a single drop of alcohol again unless it was a "special occasion
Since she has rekindled her love with Jamie she knows these leisurely drinks need to stop. Kate is older and wiser now and wants to settle down," a source told The Mirror.
"People may think it's on Jamie's orders but, although he is delighted, it is all Kate's own doing. She wants to change her lifestyle."
Let's hope The Kills guitarist Jamie doesn't see these snaps

Patient's 'gun suicide in hospital'
A hospital patient drew the curtains around his bed and shot himself dead on a busy ward yesterday. The incident has raised concerns about security in hospitals.
The 63-year-old, who had been on the ward for several weeks, is thought to have used a handgun and died of a single wound to his head.
He could not be revived by nurses and doctors who went to his aid at Northampton General Hospital
Last night, the incident raised concerns about security in hospitals. One member of staff said: 'No one can believe what's happened. It sounds like something out of a horror film.'
The man was in a bay with six other patients on a general surgical ward, which had a total of 28 beds. It was not revealed what he was suffering from nor whether he was terminally ill.
He is thought to have calmly drawn the curtains to screen himself from the other patients before pulling the trigger. A handgun was recovered from the scene by police.
An investigation has now been launched to find out whether the man was admitted with the gun or whether it was brought into him.
Hospital spokesman Peter Kennell said: 'It was a full ward and staff tried to do everything they could for him.'
Police cordoned off the bay to carry out a forensic examination but the rest of the ward was reopened.
The MP for Northampton South, Brian Binley, said the shooting raised questions about security in hospitals.
But he conceded: 'Not everyone that goes into hospital can be checked or searched
Female British aid worker killed 'because of religion'
A female British aid worker has been killed by gunmen in Kabul because she was 'spreading Christianity,' it has been confirmed.
Two unidentified hitmen on motorbikes attacked Gayle Williams as she walked alone at 8am, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said.
An FCO spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that a British national was shot dead in Kabul today. Next of kin have been informed
Ms Williams worked for Serve Afghanistan, a British-registered Christian charity that focuses on public health education, training people with disabilities and community development.
A hospital spokesman said: "Police brought the body of a woman. We still haven't completed our checks, but the initial information is that she received gunshot wounds."
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the shooting, saying Ms Williams was killed because she was spreading Christianity.
But Mike Lyth, the Carlisle-based chairman of Serve Afghanistan's board, rejected this explanation.
He said: "They will make any excuse. They probably saw there was a Christian organisation operating in Kabul and thought, 'this is how we can kill it'.
"We are Christians - that is what gives us the motivation to go into a dangerous and difficult country to try to help.
"But she was not involved in proselytisation."
Mr Lyth described Ms Williams as a "lovely girl", adding: "She was the life and soul of the party, a great adventurer.
"She will be sorely missed - a great girl."
Afghan interior ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary said the aid worker was shot in the body and leg with a pistol.
All the aid group's expatriate staff are volunteers, according to its website.
Taliban insurgents have increasingly targeted aid workers this year in their campaign to spread an atmosphere of fear and undermine support for the Western-backed Afghan government.
Taliban insurgents killed three female aid workers and their Afghan driver in an ambush just outside Kabul in August, the bloodiest single attack on foreign humanitarian workers in Afghanistan in recent years.
Rising violence has already forced aid agencies to restrict humanitarian work at a time when drought and high prices are putting more people under pressure
Spade invader 72-yr-old jailed for attack
A terminally ill woman has been jailed for breaking her neighbour's arm with a spade.
Despite being 'built like a sparrow', 72-year-old June Iddon wielded the spade 'like an axeman' as she tried to hit Jeffrey Grundy over the head in last November, the court heard.
The pair had been involved in a lengthy dispute over a strip of land separating their properties in Tarleton, Lancashire
Iddon, who Preston Crown Court heard has terminal cancer, defied a court order to launch her attack on Mr Grundy, 62.
Agitated throughout proceedings, Iddon argued with the judge and left shouting, 'I'm innocent' as guards took her down to start her 24-week sentence.
She had denied the assault but was found guilty at an earlier hearing

Hanging on: The terrified artiste is rescued
It was a big idea – but in the end it wasn't very clever.
A high-wire artiste came close to plunging 700m (2,300ft) into a gorge after tripping during a record-breaking attempt to walk along a 40° cable.
Saimaiti Aijiang, who had no safety net, saved himself only by grabbing out at the 3cm (1in) steel wire as he slipped.
He was forced to cling on for dear life with bloodied hands while a climber was sent to rescue him. The performer was then lowered to the ground in a harness. Safely back on the ground, Mr Aijiang burst into tears.
He was also seen crying on his mother's shoulder – presumably after being told off for trying something so stupid.
The stunt was Mr Aijiang's first – and probably last – attempt to walk the cable car line across China's Tianmengshan gorge – a Mecca for tightrope walkers

Katy Perry has been slammed for posing in this knife photgraph
Provocative pop star Katy Perry has been condemned for posing with a knife - allegedly "to look edgy".
The chart-topping singer was pictured with a three-inch flick-knife in a publicity shoot.
But anti-crime campaigners have accused her of "glamourising" knives, in a year in which more than 60 British youngsters have been stabbed to death
Perry reached number one in 20 countries including the UK with her hit, I Kissed A Girl.
That song infuriated some moral campaigners - and her own Methodist parents - with its lesbian theme.
Today the 23-year-old faced fresh controversy as the knife photo emerged, having been considered for use on her album or website - but rejected.
Leading the outrage was the father of 11-year-old Damilola Taylor, stabbed to death in Peckham, South London, eight years ago.
Richard Taylor, 59, said: "This woman's behaviour is unacceptable. She must be out of her mind to pose for a picture like this.
"There is nothing glamorous about knives - they wreck families. Any youngsters seeing her will think it is okay to carry a blade."
Newspaper reports today quoted a source on photoshoot, claiming: "The knife picture was done to give Katy more of a ----, harder edge."
The photo emerged online as 16-year-old Army cadet Joey Lappin became the latest young Brit killed by knife crime.
Police have said he was the innocent victim of gang violence in Everton, Liverpool, when chased and stabbed to death on Monday night.
More than 60 teenagers have been stabbed to death in this country this year, including 27 in London

New tricks: Alfred shows off his natural skills
They are a long way from old England and are more used to city life than sheep – but this pair of dogs are adapting to the countryside well.
Alfred and Briar, two Old English sheepdogs, had never seen sheep before but have shown they are not afraid to learn new tricks – even if it means trying them out on ducks first.
They have left their suburban home in Melbourne, Australia, to enter the state's herding championship.
'Alfred took a little bit longer to get what was going on but Briar went “Oh, my goodness, let me at them”,' said owner Margaret Duke.
