Otterbox has released a new protective casing in its iPhone 3G Defender series. It has been designed for use with the 8Gb and 16Gb iPhone 3G mobile phones only - the casing does not fit the first generation handset.
The casing arrives with a multi-layered protection system. The first layer is a polycarbonate sheet that features a hard coating that protects the chassis from abrasive wear and also chemical attack. The next layer in the Defender system is a Polycarbonate skeleton that can withstand high impacts such as the iPhone being dropped onto a hard floor. The final layer is a silicon skin material. The purpose of this layer is to absorb the shocks that your iPhone might experience, leaving the precious internals in good working order.
The case, which is priced at $49.95, weighs 1.9oz and is sized at 4.87in x 2.77in x 8".

Looking for a present for the wife or girlfriend? Sony Ericsson has unveiled a range of three Bluetooth watches that can be paired with your phone which will then in turn display the caller ID on the OLED display, while it will also vibrate to alert you when you have received a text or your phone is ringing. Looking at the press shots it's unclear as to why these handsets are being primarily targeted at women, perhaps because the preceding MBW-150 range was aimed towards men, but we have to admit they look rather fetching.
The three designs are called Sparkling Allure, Contemporary Elegance and Evening Classic, while all three sport a scratch resistant mineral crystal glass display complete with anti-glare coating. Each watch also has the ability to reject or mute a call with the touch of a button as well as skip, play or pause any music tracks you play through your phone. While the MBW-200 range has been optimised for Sony Ericsson handsets, they should be compatible with most Bluetooth enabled phones. All three watches will be available in Q4 of this year.
As for the guys, well Sony Ericsson has also added a sporty edition complete with brown leather strap and white face to the MBW-150 range, available early next year.
Brando's telescope zoom improves iPhone mobile phone camera

Brando has released a camera zoom add-on for the Apple iPhone mobile phone that improves the built-in camera performance of the handset.
One of the big problems with the iPhone's camera is its inherent performance. In particular, it lacks any sort of zoom facility. Brando hopes to rectify that with the introduction of the Mobile Phone Zoom that includes a 6x zoom option. It might not be the neatest looking add-on so far created for the iPhone. In fact, it looks rather unwieldy. However, the end product is that the iPhone, with the Brando bolted on, produces improved images without image contortion. The package includes a neckstrap plus a crystal case with an adaptor.
The Mobile Phone Telescope costs $19 and is available to buy direct from the Brando website for UK readers. Don't try to read the product description, however, it looks like a badly translated stream of conciousness.
Logitech release Pure-Fi Express Plus iPhone dock

Logitech has announced the launch of the Pure-Fi Express Plus dock for the Apple iPhone mobile phone. The new dock includes an alarm clock that features an omnidirectional speaker system that can be utilised to serve as a sound system for any audio files the iPhone might be carrying.
Vice president and general manager of Logitech's audio business unit, Mark Schneider, declared that, "Our latest iPod speaker docks are designed to suit each person according to their individual needs, whether what's wanted is enhanced audio and portability or an alarm clock with innovative features such as motion sensing."
According to the iPhone World website, the new dock will be released in October and will retail at a penny under $100. No details were forthcoming about a UK release or UK price.
The dock will be able to handle both the original iPhone and the latest iPhone 3G models.
iLuv to produce a dual dock for iPhone and iPod

iLuv has announced a new dock which will hold both the iPhone and an iPod at the same time. Called the iMM173, the new dock serves as an alarm clock but also a music system that will play media from either the iPhone or the iPod.
The dock includes a five-watts x 2 power output with added bass and treble controls which may be of use depending on where you site the dock. Enclosed areas might benefit with lowering the bass to prevent bass ‘boom'.
Of course, you will also be able to charge both units at once. In addition, the iLuv includes a LCD display with an included dimmer that features 10 steps. According to the iLounge website, in addition to the jAura soundcell technology, you also get an auxiliary socket, a daylight saving time switch plus a radio based on a FM tuner with eight presets. You also get a remote control for the unit. It will be released in September at an equivalent price of £75.
