Read Output from Command Prompt v2.0 With Cancel Command! No External Files!

This program grabs the output from the Command Prompt (CMD.EXE or COMMAND.COM) and reads the output from whatever command you give it. NO EXTERNAL FILES! Really good for lots of programs, I really needed this so decided to share. This also kills the PID (ProcessID) when you cancel (thanks to Nick Campbeln for his PID Killing Function). Read Output from Command Prompt [Cpu/User-Friendly Control]

This program reads the output of CLI (Command Line Interface) Applications. Examples of CLI Applications are: -PING -NETSTAT -TRACERT This program will grab the output and call events so that you can process the commands. For example, if you ping a person, the output that is usely returned to the screen by the command prompt is captured and called into an event! This isnt a cheap method, it doesnt use any file input/output. Create music from pictures - 6 different midi songs from a single picture This code creates music from any picture, although you can implement it to create midi music from files too. You can change the existing picture to any picture of your choice. This can be pretty useful in encryption. But there may be other uses of it also What is technique behind this? This program does nothing but takes a pixel splits it into R, G & B and then uses the facility provided by free OCX "FreeLib" to create midi music. I have zipped that OCX. The value of R, G & B can be Instrument, Volume or Note. Thus creating 6 different types of music. However, the music produced is not much interesting. Real Assembler

This program illustrates the function of a assembler with limited error handling and debugging. It shows how different mnemonics are translated into computer codes. There is one instruction compiled for every assembly key word. This assembler is in initial stage and supports a few op codes. There are a few interesting examples included. The project is the result of hours of my work. So plz comment and vote even if it is 1 *. It will encourage me to prepare a full fledged compiler.

Remove TextBox Popup

This code does some useful things. First ,it replaces the default textbox context menu(the menu which pops up when u right click the textbox or press context menu key on the keyboard) with menu of ur choice. Secondly it shows how u can create ur own Edit Menu. Thirdly it shows how u can restrict user from pasting into textbox(it may be desired in some cases). Users can't paste into textbox by any means.I found some codes on the site where u could replace the textbox default popup menu but all failed when user pressed context menu key/application key on keyboard(the key immediate to Right Windows Key). I hope u find it of some use ;-).

regx vowel counter

Another example of a vowel and number counter using regular expressions - with a regular expression tutorial. Again the regx is many times faster than the usual method. I have posted several examples of how to do common matches using regular expressions and now have a standard benchmark template so expect more. Each time I do this I usually have to edit the vb-code so that it doesn't break on large files like changing interger declarations to long. The regx is always so much simpler and error free. In this example both the rex and non regx functions count any digit as a number so 12345 matches 5 times. What if we wantedd to consider any series of digits a single match. With the regx you simply change "\d" to "\d*" literally that is it. To make this same modification to the non-regx method would take a while. Now what if we wanted to consider 1,000 or 1.00 a number or only match dates. Again with the regx it is a simple change. After looking at this example click on the learn regular expressions menu item. Read the tutorial and download FileTextExtractor. This program includes several prebuilt regular expressions and lets you craft your own and run them on files. All of the matches and the count show up in a listbox. With regular expresions every match is available through the matches collection. You can even define submatches wich is usefull when you want to remember different parts of a match for things like searching for double typed words. Anyway, please read the tutorial and No I am not just trying to sell books. I havn't sold one yet anyway. The links are just there because I am not a master of regular expressions. I did however learn everything I know about them from Mastering Regular Expressions. And I did write an html/xml syntax highlighter that uses 2 regular expressions. Anyway, if you want to learn them well you will have to buy a book sometime. Might as well be from someone you know and maybee even vote for - hint.

Random Stars

This is a star thingy. I didnt spend too much time on it but it is a great alternative to large amounts of code. About 10 lines and you have a thingy with 22 stars and they randomly change spots every second. I was inspired by the dude who made somthing earlier. I didnt think it would work but it did! ProgressBar without OCX's - only a few lines of code!

The Visual Basic Progressbar requires the huge comctrl32.ocx to be distributed with your program - not any more! this is the classic method with the familiar dark-Blue on white background. I have been asked this over and over again, so here it is. It is actually 2 labels stuck together with a bit of arithmetic used to animate them.

Proof Of Optimizations

Based on Article Speed up your app' by Paul Guerra. Demonstartion of his arguments. The test structure is an expansion of code snippet from Jeremy van Dijk in Comments on the article. Design of code allows you to quickly incorperate further tests if you want. Can't stand endless nyah,nyah comments about is/isn't so built this demo. I suspect that where the demo contradicts Paul's article,(not many) it is either becuase of differences in IDE vs compiled running or my test is too simple to really give VB a workout. Have also included most of the other optimizations suggested in comments on the article. Any Votes to Paul Guerra for inspiring me to sit down and code rather than just assume.
