PETER SCHMEICHEL
Liverpool 1-2 MANCHESTER UNITED
6th March, 1993
The Great Dane pulled off more than his fair share of wonder saves during a glittering Premier League career, and his effort to deny Liverpool's Don Hutchison was typically astounding. Ten yards out, the midfielder could not have caught his left-foot shot any sweeter, but Schmeichel threw himself away to his left to parry the ball behind.
PETER SCHMEICHEL
Newcastle United 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
21st December, 1997
When Newcastle's John Barnes met Stuart Pearce's cross from the left with a thumping header, he must have thought it was in. But Manchester United keeper Peter Schmeichel was not to be beaten, diving away to his left and sticking out his giant left hand to miraculously divert the ball behind for a corner.
JUSSI JAASKELAINEN
Manchester United1-2 BOLTON WANDERERS
20th October, 2001
With the scores level at 1-1, Bolton keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen pulled off a double save of staggering quality. Diving down to his left at full stretch to keep out Paul Scholes' left-foot drive, the Finn somehow managed to get to his feet in time to throw himself in front of Andy Cole's shot from the rebound and claw that away too. Bolton went on to record a famous victory at Old Trafford.
SHAY GIVEN
Sunderland 0-1 NEWCASTLE UNITED
24th February, 2002
With his team leading the Tyne-Wear derby 1-0 with six minutes left, Newcastle keeper Shay Given could hardly have chosen a more crucial moment to make such a stunning save. Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips had curled the ball with unerring accuracy towards Given's top corner from 22 yards, but the Irishman sprang into the air, bent his back and managed to fingertip it over the bar, earning his side three points and himself a place in north-east derby folklore.
TOMASZ KUSZCZAK
Wigan Athletic 0-1 WEST BROMWICH ALBION
15th January, 2006
As the ball rolled across the West Brom six-yard box, it looked like Wigan striker Jason Roberts would have the simplest of tasks in knocking it into an empty net. But from nowhere, Baggies keeper Tomasz Kuszczak managed to change direction, race across his line, make himself big and throw himself at Roberts' feet to block the Latics man's effort. It was the last act of the match, and secured a 1-0 win for West Brom.
CARLO CUDICINI
Tottenham Hotspur 4-4 CHELSEA
19th March, 2008
In the dying stages of a truly astonishing Premier League match with Tottenham and Chelsea level at 4-4, Blues keeper Carlo Cudicini pulled off a save of sheer brilliance to deny Spurs a winner. It appeared as though the Italian was diving the wrong way to keep out Dimitar Berbatov's true right-foot shot, but he showed superb reflexes to stick out his right hand and direct the ball behind, jumping into the air to celebrate.
BRAD FRIEDEL
BLACKBURN ROVERS 1-1 Manchester United
19th April, 2008
Blackburn led the champions 1-0 going into the closing stages, with Brad Friedel keeping Manchester United at bay with a series of wonderful saves. He saved his best until right before the end, showing amazing reflexes to stick out his right hand and turn John O'Shea's goalbound shot behind for a corner. United went on to equalise in the 88th minute, but Friedel's heroics earned Rovers a draw.
JOE HART
Liverpool 1-0 MANCHESTER CITY
4th May, 2008
Joe Hart established himself in the Man City goal in the 2007/08 season but it was in his final appearance of the campaign that he pulled off an astounding stop. With Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard's inch-perfect curler from just inside the penalty area arching towards the far corner, Hart showed terrific speed and skill to adjust his feet and fly across goal, tipping the ball away for a corner when it looked for all the world a goal.
TOMASZ KUSZCZAK
Birmingham City 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED
27th September, 2007
A second-half substitute for the injured Edwin van der Sar, Manchester United's Polish keeper Tomasz Kuszczak was called into action to preserve their 1-0 lead when Birmingham's Gary McSheffrey cut in from the left and fired a shot goalwards. The ball took a wicked deflection off Rio Ferdinand on its way to the corner of the net, but Kuszczak showcased his tremendous agility and reflexes to push it away for a corner.
CRAIG GORDON
SUNDERLAND 1-0 Bolton Wanderers
18th December, 2010
It simply had to be a goal. As a corner from the Bolton right was headed back into the six-yard box, defender Zat Knight was there to meet it and steer the ball towards the open goal. Only Sunderland keeper Craig Gordon was not to be beaten, the Scot making a genuinely staggering reflex save with his left hand and somehow pushing the ball over the bar from almost on the goalline.
بهترین خوشحالی بعد از گل در 20 فصل گذشته:
SIR ALEX FERGUSON & BRIAN KIDD
MANCHESTER UNITED v Sheffield Wednesday, 1992/93
Man Utd's Premier League title challenge looked in trouble when they were 1-0 down at home to Sheffield Wednesday with 86 minutes gone, but two late goals from Steve Bruce - the second deep into stoppage time - produced a famous comeback, with Alex Ferguson and his assistant Brian Kidd leaping on to the Old Trafford pitch in celebration. United won their last five matches and eased to their first title since 1966/67.
LEE SHARPE
MANCHESTER UNITED v Arsenal, 1994/95
Man Utd winger Lee Sharpe was famous for his jubilant goal celebrations, with a wiggle of his hips an early favourite. But the one he became most well-known for is wheeling away to the corner flag, grabbing it like it was a microphone and pretending to sing to the crowd as he struck the rock-star pose in front of them, as he did on this occasion against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
JURGEN KLINSMANN
Sheffield Wednesday v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR, 1994/95
Tottenham's German summer signing arrived on English shores with something of a reputation for simulation, so he decided to face the negativity head on - courtesy of a very special celebration when he scored his first Premier League goal. After heading home at Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day of the 1994/95 season, Klinsmann led his team-mates in a group diving session, immediately endearing him to his adoring new public.
ERIC CANTONA
MANCHESTER UNITED v Sunderland, 1996/97
Having scored a truly breathtaking goal in Manchester United's home drubbing of Sunderland, French striker Eric Cantona decided to survey his scene at Old Trafford and take in the moment as he very slowly pirouhetted on the spot, looking around at the fans wildly celebrating and eventually raising his arms into the air in triumph, as Brian McClair arrived to congratulate his team-mate on another moment of genius.
TEMURI KETSBAIA
NEWCASTLE UNITED v Bolton Wanderers, 1997/98
The Georgian clearly had something on his mind after scoring a late winner in Newcastle's 2-1 victory over Bolton. Having tucked the ball home from six yards, Temuri Ketsbaia proceeded to run towards the famous Gallowgate End, pull his Magpies shirt off and throw it into the crowd, before attempting to take off one of his boots, launching three ferocious kicks at the advertising hoardings and pushing his team-mate away.
IAN WRIGHT & NEIL RUDDOCK
WEST HAM UNITED v Southampton, 1998/99
A week prior to West Ham's meeting with Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday's Paolo di Canio had disgraced himself by pushing referee Paul Alcock to the floor having been shown a red card. So when Ian Wright scored for the Hammers, he ran off to find Neil Ruddock, pretended to show him a yellow card, and then tumbled back to the ground having been pushing in the chest by his colleague. Cheeky.
STEVEN GERRARD
Manchester United v LIVERPOOL, 2008/09
Having tucked away a penalty at the home of Liverpool's arch rivals Manchester United to take a 2-1 lead into the half-time break, Reds captain Steven Gerrard was feeling pretty pleased with himself. Gerrard wheeled away towards the corner flag where a television camera was positioned, first kissing the Liverpool crest on his shirt and then planting a smacker on the camera for good measure. His side went on to record a famous 4-1 victory.
JIMMY BULLARD
Manchester City v HULL CITY, 2009/10
The season before, Hull manager Phil Brown had delivered his half-time teamtalk at Eastlands on the pitch, so disgusted was he with his team for being 2-0 down. So when Jimmy Bullard slotted in a late penalty to earn Hull a point at Manchester City, he poked fun at his manager by getting his team-mates to sit around him and stand there wagging his finger at them in mock disappointment. Even the City fans had to laugh.
LOMANA LUA LUA
NEWCASTLE UNITED, multiple occasions
The DR Congo striker scored some spectacular goals during a four-year spell at Newcastle United, but it was his celebration for which he gained arguably more fame during that period. Lomana Lua Lua had been a talented junior gymnast, and he showed those skills to football audiences around the world by producing a series of back flips followed by a backward somersualt, all with a smile on his face.
ALAN SHEARER
NEWCASTLE UNITED, multiple occasions
He scored 260 goals in the Premier League during the course of an incredible career, and Alan Shearer's goal celebration was as reliable as the man in front of goal himself. Wheeling away with his right arm raised, Shearer would run towards his adoring fans to share in their delight, and the identity of the goalscorer was never in doubt as soon as the arm went up.
