otal Recorder Pro records streaming audio and sound card inputs. Recordings are saved to the hard-drive in .wav (compressed or uncompressed), wma, mp3 or Ogg format. Convert different sound formats to .wav, wma, mp3 and Ogg.


WHAT'S NEW WITH VERSION 6.0?
In addition to maintenance, Version 6.0 includes the following changes:

- Total Recorder now supports the use of skins to customize the look and feel of the interface. Besides the skins distributed with Total Recorder, you can use a free-of-charge skin editor to develop your own skins.
- Total Recorder's driver is enhanced in many ways. Some of these enhancements are:
- Support for multiple sound streams. This allows you, for example, to launch several scheduled recordings at the same time.
- Resolved issues with the compatibility of some sound-board mixers.
- Settings that allow you to control the driver's behavior based on the sound applications you use.
- "Monitoring mode" allows you to monitor sound signals passed through Total Recorder when it is not recording. You can preview the sound levels before you begin an actual recording.
- You can display information, including the activity, for all your sound applications that use the Total Recorder driver. For example, you can display the format used by an application for playback.
- Ogg Vorbis is now supported through a free-of-charge "Ogg Vorbis Support Add-on". This add-on is built based on the latest Ogg Vorbis engine. You can still work with Ogg Vorbis using the vorbishc.dll
file as before.
- The "Recording Wizard" allows users to easily specify their settings for recording. The wizard can also help you resolve some problems you may experience.
- You can use the new free-of-charge Send to iTunes/iPod Add-on. This add-on allows you to send files directly to iTunes/iPod. You can manually send files, or Total Recorder can send the files automatically while recording in Split mode or as part of a scheduled recording.
- The sound image window has been greatly improved. Some of the improvements include the following:
- Ability to change the horizontal (time) scale of a sound image. This allows you to edit sound with the most accuracy.
- Ability to change the vertical (amplitude) scale of a sound image to the extent that separate samples can be viewed.
- A sound image can be displayed in either amplitude form (as in previous versions of Total Recorder) or in wave form (as in many sound editors).
- Additional options are available when recording in split mode.
- If you use the scheduler to record Internet transmissions, you can specify a time when Total Recorder will establish an Internet connection and then wait until the scheduled recording starts.
- Ability to insert a portion of silence into a sound file.
- Many other enhancements.

Total Recorder Professional Edition will record PC audio from almost any source, including streamed audio from programs like Windows Media Player.

l Recorder Professional Edition can also record conventional audio from CD's, the microphone and other input lines on a sound card.

The Professional Edition also includes features like the Sound Image facility, the Auto Split feature and the ability to initiate a web connection to record a scheduled web broadcast.

Features :

· Record local audio files or Internet broadcasts reproduced by other programs, such as RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, iTunes, Musicmatch Jukebox, WinAmp, and many others.

· Record both parties of Internet-telephony conversations when using programs like Skype, Google Talk, etc.

· Use the time shift feature to listen to the recorded sound while a recording is being made. While listening, you can move anywhere within the recorded part of the sound stream and start playback.

· Record any sound passing through any line of your sound card. For example, you can record sound being played back by an external program, or sound from a microphone, an external LP, cassette, CD/DVD player, AM/FM/Satellite radio, etc.

· Background record (i.e. capture) an Internet-broadcast in MP3, WMA and Ogg Vorbis formats. This feature allows you to do the following: Record Internet broadcasts in their original format without decoding and re-encoding, Record without using an external player, Extract track information from a stream, You can also play back an Internet broadcast.

· Record, edit and play video in AVI and WMV formats with Video Add-on. Video can be recorded from a hardware device plugged into your computer, such as a camera, or captured video from your screen. You can also background record Internet video streams in WMV format. The program can be scheduled to record video from your favourite video services and websites.

· Use Cue-sheet files. Now Total Recorder lets you create cue-points, which can be used for splitting a file afterwards. These cue-points can be created manually, for example to make a bookmark in a sound file.
Or they can be created automatically during a recording session (based on pause reduction, changes of the clip information in an external player, etc.) or while capturing an Internet transmission and information about a track changes.

· Use the Recording Wizard to help you customize Total Recorder settings based on the sound you are going to record.

· Record directly in any supported sound format. PCM, MP3, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and any format provided by a system codec are supported. Professional Edition also provides support for a number of high-quality stereo formats (PCM - up to 192kHz 24bit and float, FLAC - up to 192kHz 24bit, WMA Lossless - up to 96kHz 24bit, and formats provided by the Windows Media Audio Professional codec).

· Convert files between any of the supported sound formats.

· Create and edit file tags. You can create and edit ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags for MP3 files and tags for WMA, WAV, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC files.

· Edit sound files using a built-in sound editor. This built-in sound editor allows you to cut, trim, and join your recordings. Editing can be performed using a visual representation of the sound or using clipboard operations. All editing functions are performed without decompressing/recompressing to preserve sound quality and save time.

· Normalize recordings to adjust the level of sound. Such processing for MP3 files is performed without re-encoding or loss of quality.

· Apply fading effects. Applying fading effects to MP3 files is performed without re-encoding or loss of quality.

· Schedule playbacks or recordings using Total Recorder's powerful built-in scheduler. For example, you can schedule a recording and use a stop condition such as an absolute time, a duration, the absence of a sound signal, and so on.

· Export/import configuration settings and scheduled jobs is useful if you need to reinstall your system, move Total Recorder from one computer to another, or as a backup.

· Use a command line interface to start playback or recording and specify associated parameters.

· Perform general operations on playlists, such as merge multiple files in a playlist, rename files from a playlist using tag information, save a playlist, etc.

· Split recordings on separate clips. You can indicate that the sound being recorded will be split on separate clips during the recording. File tags can be created automatically.

· Execute a command line after a file has been recorded or after a recording session has completed. This feature is available when recording in split mode and for a scheduling recording.

· Put your computer in standby or hibernate mode when an automatic job completes.

· Save a stereo file as a mono file with channel mixing. This can be used, for example, to save the left and right channels of a stereo file to separate mono files.

· Merge multiple files into a single file. A period of silence can be inserted between the files or a fading effect can be applied to the files during a merge.

· Use add-ons. Total Recorder supports add-ons that can be used for video recording, sound enhancements, mixing operations, integration with iTunes/iPod, and for other purposes.
