I have got tired of the recent mess in the Chat Room, so I decided to create a topic to discuss music and music genres exclusively and of course in English!!!!l

What type of music you guys like and if you could post links (like YouTube or Download links) to your FAVORITE songs, you don't have to post a link though lol.

There is also a poll which asks about your taste in music and we all would like to know who likes what :)l

Post your favorite songs and genre of music!!!l

Ok, I'll start, I nearly listen to everything except for rap which is not tolerabe for me

Most people consider Metal music violent or as load noise, yeah it's correct and that's why the main listeners are male teenagers. I like the sub-genres of Gothic and Black the most

Black Metal is really serious stuff and ain't fun at all, it's krieg

Anyway, I love other genres especially Instrumental and this is my favorite song of all time

Sidewalk Cafe-Blonker

Hi

Thanks dear Scythe for this nice topic :31:

My favorite songs are back to when I was a teenager and It hasn't been changed since then.

It is
Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston - When You Believe

برای مشاهده محتوا ، لطفا وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید

It's such a lovely song
And here's the lyrics

When You Believe lyrics
Many nights we've prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains
Long before we knew we could

[Chorus:]
There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It's hard to kill
Who knows what miracles
You can achieve
When you believe
Somehow you will
You will when you believe

In this time of fear
When prayer so often proves in vain
Hope seemed like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away
Yet now I'm standing here
My heart's so full, I can't explain
Seeking faith and speaking words
I never thought I'd say

[Chorus]

They don't always happen when you ask
And it's easy to give in to your fears
But when you're blinded by your pain
Can't see your way clear through the rain
A small, but still, resilient voice
Says help is very near

[Chorus]

:)l

You're one in a million
Oh
Now
You're one in a million
Oh

Sometimes love can hit you every day
Sometimes you can fall for everyone you see
But only one can really make me stay
A sign from the sky
Said to me

[Chorus]
You're one in a million
You're once in a lifetime
You made me discover one of the stars above us
You're one in a million
You're once in a lifetime
You made me discover one of the stars above us

I've been looking for that special one
And I've been searching for someone to give my love
And when I thought that all the hope was gone
A smile, there you were and I was gone

I always will remember how I felt that day
A feeling indescribable to me
Yeah
I always knew there was an answer for my prayer
And you, you're the one for me

[Chorus x 2]

In the beginning I was cool and everything was possible
They tried to catch me but it was impossible
No one could hurt me it was my game
Until I met you baby and you were the same
And when you didn't want me I wanted you because
The funny thing about it is I liked the show
I like it when its difficult
I like it when its hard
Then you know its worth it
That you found your heart

[Chorus x 2]

You're one in a million
Oh
You're one in a million

About new age, because the most songs of this genre are instrumental and electronic I guess we can roughly categories it as electronica, what do you think?l

I am also into old school music, especially the mighty bands like the Beatles, the doors, the who and so on. Their music is still still hot and alive among young generation

I think most of the stuff produced today so called music like the mainstream of rap or techno will be wiped out of the map of music because their music is not music at all!!!:31: I guess the best music happened in 70's/80's

Nowadays music is mainly shallow and overproduced

I gotta feeling that tonight’s gonna be a good night

Jump off that sofa
Let’s get get OFF

I know that we’ll have a ball

and just loose it all

I feel stressed out
I wanna let it go
Lets go way out spaced out
and loosing all control

Fill up my cup
Mazel tov
Look at her dancing
just take it off

Lets paint the town
We’ll shut it down
Let’s burn the roof
and then we’ll do it again

Lets Do it (x3)
and live it up

i gotta feeling that tonight’s gonna be a good night
that tonight’s gonna be a good night
that tonight’s gonna be a good good night (x2)

Tonight’s the night

Go out and smash it
Like Oh My God
Jump off that sofa
Lets get get OFF

Fill up my cup (Drink)
Mozolotov (Lahyme)
Look at her dancing (Move it Move it)
Just take it off

Lets paint the town
We’ll shut it down

As i Said : I think:31:
so i thought wrong

this is one of my favorite songs of children of bodom
Judge it yourself:11:

Since day one I've been crass and far beyond.
I couldn't laugh, I couldn't cry ...
Before you judge me, take a look at yourself.
Condescending - out living in a lie..

Despite all the pain in my heart grinding through,
it ain't due that you hate what I hate what you do.

Despite all the piety you've been consuming thus far,
a backstabbing motherf*cker to the bone is what you are.

And every day when the knife in my back starts to twinge n'
turn,
my eyes are catching fire and my heart it tarts to burn.
A foot away from you is like a bit closer to heaven,
then again it's like being needled 24/7.

You look down to me to see the scum of the earth to be.
F*ck yeah, that's me, vile and obscene.
I ain't happy about it, but at least I don't judge and decree
to be better than another human being.

Every day when the knife in my back starts to twinge n' turn,
my eyes are catching fire and my heart starts to burn.
A foot away from you is like a bit closer to heaven,
then again it's like being needled 24/7.

Despite all the piety you've been consuming thus far,
can anyone, somebody, tell me what the f*ck is going on?

Every day when the knife in my back starts to twinge n' turn,
my eyes are catching fire and my heart starts to burn.
A foot away from you is like a bit closer to heaven,
then again it's like being needled 24/7.

[Diddy talking]
I remember the first time i seen you moonwalk,
I believed I could do anything,
you made the world dance,
you made the music come to life

[Chris brown - Chorus]
This the type of song that make the angels cry,
i look up in the sky and i wonder why?
why you had to go, go
I know its better on the other side,
you were chosen from the start
never gon let you go,

[The Game]
Whos Michael Jackson,
Your Michael Jackson,
Im Michael Jackson,
We all Michael Jackson,
I guess what Im asking is everybody bow their head for a legend dont breathe for a second,
now let the air out, grab the hand of somebody you care about,
so you can hear my message, my confession,
someone tell Usher, i seen the moonwalk, i guess the young thriller touched him, like he touched me, like he touched you,
so carry on his legacy, something i must do, so i trust you lighting candles, concrete visuals, me and my brothers listen to jackson 5 in the living room,
first thing i did when i heard was call puff,
cos him and Mike tried to stop the beef between us,
who was us? Me and fifty, that beef is dead, him and Mike Jackson gonna take us to the ledge.

[Chorus]

As Im pouring out this liquor candles start to flicker,
when list (?) my air ones, MJ was my nier.
Not the one that play ball, the one with the hollywood star,
and since im a hollywood star imma tell you my story,
[Courtesy of KillerHipHop.com]
never had a family that close, never see Barry Gordy walking through interscope,
just like me they always had Mike in a scope,
no matter what you say,
imma love him and hes still dope,
let me take you back to 85 when i was in a zone, dancing for my momma thriller jacket with all the zippers on,
now im doing 90 bout to crash in this Aston,
listening to Outcast, Im sorry Mrs Jackson [Damn - Dope line from Game - KillerHipHop.com]
anything i can ever do to better you your son was our king so we wont Corretta you,
Im writing this letter to all the Jackson kids, we all Jackson kids, time to let us through.

[Chorus]

[Boys II Men]
This the kind of song that make the angels cry,
look up in the sky and ask God, why o why why
Do we live and let die
This the kind of song that make the angels cry,
look up in the sky and ask God, why o why why
Do we live and let, live and let die.

Music is not written in red, white, and blue. It is written in the heart's blood of the composer
Nellie Melba(R.I.P)

music enlightens the soul
music enlightens the world
and music enlightens our enviroment
music shapes us ... music tells us how to move how to think and how to look
music obligate us to dance .. music pushes us to be nearer to our love and music tells us how to live
music is a part of art which cause to have new friend .. new thoughts new interests and new people .. it enlightens literature ..and plays with words

and I may share one of my friend's opinion as my own opinion :
... universe is the dancing roof and when we are listening to our fav music we are the cosmic dancing mood of ourselves and we fly from one part of this world to an other part ... we shake hand with our love and dance with it in our mind

interpretation:
the world: all of world +God+and stars and everything you may think that relates to love
love:our favorite mood of living
shake hand with our love and dance with it: being in our fav mood and live on it(the dream land) and living on our favorite universe

so here we go:31:
favorite music!
That was some of my opinions about music ... But not all of music .. the only music styles I love:31:
I think that these days music is not music ..Today I go to my friend's house and he shows some music and says these are the latest music from Mr.X and I download them on my MP3 Player and listen to them!
I think that these days most of people say OK to every music they see without paying attention to the music! .. I dun wanna say those kinds of music are bad .. I wanna say that they don't listen to the music they really love!
I hope someday they will:31:
BTW -why I don't see Iranian Traditional music,New age and Opera in the poll list? I'm gonna have Tahasson right here :D

is it also a place for posting articles about music ?
here is a good one:

Music has an undeniable power over mind and body—and the science behind its mysterious sway is a hot topic at the moment. In the latest study to show music’s physical effects on the body, researchers found that volume changes affect heart rate and other physiological markers. But why? A recent NOVA documentary and a new article from Scientific American MIND magazine explore the vexing question of why music moves us.

In the new study from the journal Circulation, an Italian team showed that heart rate, blood pressure and breathing depth faithfully mirrored rising and falling sound levels in classical music. Earlier, the scientists had observed the same effect for musical tempo. These physiologic effects might intensify our emotional response to music and help explain how music therapy works in people with neurological impairments such as stroke.

Studies like this one help to answer the question of how music affects us, but researchers struggle to explain why. Patients with neurological problems that affect musical talent, appreciation or understanding are one source of important clues. Last week on PBS, the NOVA premiere called Musical Minds told the story of several such cases, based on neurologist Oliver Sacks’s book Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain. One story focused on Tony Cicoria, an orthopedic surgeon who developed an obsession to play the piano after being struck by lightning.

Although we might glean valuable insights from extreme cases such as Cicoria’s, we still lack a firm understanding of how and why the average person’s brain is so tuned in to music. Inspired by her own recreational interest in singing, Karen Schrock—an editor at Scientific American Mind—explores the latest research into this question in Why Music Moves Us featured in the current issue of the magazine. As Sacks told Schrock, “Music is the most direct and mysterious way of conveying and evoking feeling."

hmmm.... I have too many favorite music videos though a lot of them come from a time when music videos didn't exist (or they were called promotional videos at the time). I absolutely love Strawberry fields forever clip by the Beatles, even after all this time it's maintained its cool factor :31: and Hello Goodbye (also by the Beatles) is really fun to watch with the all four of the Beatles acting so silly, specially John. I also loveeeeee Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan. That clip's been imitated a lot. Bob's standing in the street holding a bunch of papers with lyrics written on them and drops them on the floor when the line's being sung. and I never figured out why the hell was Allen Ginsberg standing in the background doing nothing :27:

[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]

I also like Aerosmith videos! they always seem to be very well directed and at times it's like watching a movie. I remember seeing the clip for Hole in my soul when I was in third grade on MTV and it's still one of my favorite music clips.

Now for something really irrelevant to the current discussion :31: a few days ago was the 40th anniversary of the Beatles crossing Abbey Road for the photo shoot of the cover of the LP with the same name. And loads of Beatles fans came together at 11.30 on Abbey Road to celebrate the event of one of the most iconic images in rock history being taken. I'm sure most of you guys are familiar with it but I'll put it here anyway.

It is a matter of taste :20: It's just what kind of a sound you prefer. I prefer the popish sound of the Beatles and I LOVE AND LOVE AND LOVE their vocal harmonies. I believe they captured the spirit of the 60s at its best and no need to say that 60s is my favorite decade. :31: As for --- Pistols it's no question that they were pioneers in developing the sound of Punk music but although I respect them very much I'm not a fan of their music. Any of you guys know "The 69 eyes"? I totally dig their songs and all. Their genre is Gothic/Glam rock and their music is heavily influenced by the bands such as "The doors" and "The sister of mercy" and so on. Give them a listening, you may like them too. l

For the start check this song: Never say die

One thing that I like about this band is their religious lyrics, in their lyrics you can clearly see the struggles within a Christian. From one hand he longs for breaking some religious borders but from other hand he feels regret..though this is my interpretation and I could be wrong. In addition, They have some good horror story songs

A part of their lyrics: l

Well well well, what can I tell
I've been out three more days but I'm still doing swell
I fall in love everyday but I never give my heart away
'Cause I still got some respect for you in the end
...
Only you can save me, Lord
Mmm
Don't you come any closer to the world you don't

Hey! Cool to know you like some of their songs. Have you heard Helter Skelter? (by the Beatles of course). Supposedly it's the song that drove Charles Manson to the edge of madness (although I believe it was just an excuse for him to go nuts with his evil intentions) :31: the whole White Album actually. But it's their hardest hitting song and from my impression you seem to like the louder types of Rock so I highly recommend you to check it out.

We're driving slow through the snow on 5th Avenue
And right now radio's all that we can hear
Now we ain't talk since we left, it's so over due
It's cold outside but between us it's worse in here

The world slows down
But my heart beats fast right now
I know this is the part
Where the end starts

I can't take it any longer
Thought that we were stronger
All we do is linger
Slipping through my fingers
I don't wanna try now
All that's left's goodbye to
Find a way that I can tell you
I hate this part right here
I hate this part right here
I just can't take your tears
I hate this part right here

Everyday, 7 takes of the same old scene
Seems we're bound by the laws of the same routine
Gotta talk to you now 'fore we go to sleep
But will we sleep once I tell you what's hurting me

The world slows down
But my heart beats fast right now
I know this is the part
Where the end starts

I can't take it any longer
Thought that we were stronger
All we do is linger
Slipping through our fingers
I don't wanna try now
All that's left's goodbye to
Find a way that I can tell you
I hate this part right here
I hate this part right here
I just can't take your tears
I hate this part right here

I know you'll ask me to hold on
And carry on like nothing's wrong
But there is no more time for lies
'Cause I see sunset in your eyes

I can't take it any longer
Thought that we were stronger
All we do is linger
Slipping through our fingers
I don't wanna try now
All that's left's goodbye to
Find a way that I can tell you

That I gotta do it,
I gotta do it,
I gotta do it
I hate this part
I gotta do it,
I gotta do it,
I gotta do it

I hate this part right here

Mother Earth Lyrics
Birds and butterflies
Rivers and mountains she creates
But you'll never know
The next move she'll make You can try
But it is useless to ask why Cannot control her
She goes her own way
She rules until the end of time
She gives and she takes
She rules until the end of time
She goes her way With every breath

And all the choices that we make
We are only passing through on her way
I find my strength
Believing that their soul lives on
Until the end of time I'll carry them with me
she rules until the end of time
she gives and she takes
she rules until the end of time
she goes her way Once you will know my dear
You dont have to fear A new beginning
Always starts at the end
Once you will know my dear
You dont have to fear ...
Until the end of time x3
She goes her way
she rules until the end of time
she gives and she takes
she rules until the end of time
until the end of time until the end of time
she goes her way.

Furthermore, I downloaded the white album from the Beatles and the song of Helter Skelter from the album is arse kicking, amazing and unbelievably fast:31: (I have heard it once from TV but didn't know it is from Beatles) So it proves the claims that Beatles couldn't bring a new level to their music are utterly absurd. Kinda old but I like it:

You raise me up

When I am down and, oh my soul so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be,
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;

Well they have 13 Studio albums and 2 compilation containing their single releases that weren't on the albums. :31:
I love discovering obscure bands to listen to but I also believe there's a reason why some bands are more famous than the others. I'm not talking about the modern music though. I'm talking about a time when Rock music was considered mainstream and pop eg. 60s and 70s.

mmm as for the older bands I recommend you to check out The Who :31: I got a feeling you're gonna like them! They're considered to be a proto-punk band, they're not punk but they're one of the biggest influences on the genre with their "sod off!" attitude and on-stage mannerism such as smashing their instruments at the end of the concert etc.
I strongly recommend "Quadrophenia" their album from 1973. If you did like this one you can start listening to their other works.

I love discovering obscure bands to listen to but I also believe there's a reason why some bands are more famous than the others. I'm not talking about the modern music though. I'm talking about a time when Rock music was considered mainstream and pop eg. 60s and 70s.

You are maybe right I don't know much about 60s or 70. But nowadays,
One reason for standing out could be because of the quality, but there are other important
factors such as media that brainwash youth to believe that the talentless rappers such as
50 cent (ugh) or pop idols such B. Spears must be in the center of attention (imo).
In my opinion, time is a good measure to decide about the quality of bands, for example you
don't hear anymore about hair metal which was very famous during 80s except for few bands and
it proves that so many songs of that genre were trendy, but you still see the music of "the doors"
alive and it shows that the band deserved its credit. Anyway, music is something subjective and
we can't write off some bands or regard some highly with some degree of certainty.l

mmm as for the older bands I recommend you to check out The Who :31: I got a feeling you're gonna like them!
I don't know much about them but I love the song of "Behind the blue eyes":), sung by them
What do u think of "the doors" and "Jim Morrison"? and The Doors Vs The Who? l

This is the lyrics of a very nice song from Sean Kingston, witch really excited me. everything" the lyrics, song, video" are great.

Kingston

Let’s Go
Hey, hey, hey
Red One
Hey Hey
Shawty got that super thing
Hotter than the sun of south in spain
Got me soon as I walked through the door
My pocket started tickle-ing
The way she dropped it low that thang
Got me wanna spend my money on her, her

She get it pop it lock it drop it,
That birthday cake,
Got a candle, need to blow that crazy flame away
Now take my red, black card and my jewellery
Shawty is cool like the fire,
Cool like fire

Somebody call 911
Shawty fire burning on the dance floor
Whoa
I gotta cool her down
She won't bring the roof to ground on the dance floor
Whoa
She’s fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor
That little shawty’s fire burning on the dance floor
Shes fire burning fire burning on the dance floor
That little shawty’s fire burning on the dance floor
Fire burning fire burning

That body is a masterpiece
The order is one in every hundred years
But ain’t no doubt i’m taking it home
I'M AFRAID WE'LL BLOW THEM LEGS
Little mama game is about to change
She’ll be on covers over the world

She get it pop it lock it drop it that birthday cake
Got a candle need to blow that crazy flame away
Take my red, black card and my jewellery

Shawty is cool like the fire
Cool like fire

Somebody call 911
Shawty fire burning on the dance floor
Whoa
I gotta cool her down
She won't bring the roof to ground on the dance floor
Whoa
She’s fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor
That little shawty’s fire burning on the dance floor
Shes fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor
That little shawty’s fire burning on the dance floor

She got that fire in her dance that’ll make them fella’s run around
Hey
No exit from the dance floor so them boys want more
Hey
She got that fire in her dance that’ll make them fella’s run around
??? get outta my way , everybody, sing it now
No exit from the dance floor so them boys want more

She get it pop it lock it drop it that birthday cake
Got a candle need to blow that crazy flame away
Take my red , black card and my jewellery
Shawty is cool like the fire
Cool like fire

I love Rock Ballads...other themes I like to hear about : redemption and moral trials ...

as for Metal, I'm mostly content with themes like Mythology (Epic), Sorrow (& lost love), nature (Folk metal) ...

Thanks, I have a paradoxical taste. I enjoy some lyrics of Hair Metal songs which virtually don't have any contents except for living with "happy-go-lucky" attitude. The lyrics are juvenile, happy and makes me always burst to laugh[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] I like the idea of taking life easy
Hair Metal bar none is the happiest sub-genre

Staying out all
night dancing
You can't keep
them at home, no
She'll tease and smile
She'll play for a while
She's got it under
control, yeah

I hope it's me tonight
She's looking for
Oh, sweet young girls
I love them all

Young girls
Driving me crazy
Young girls
I love them all

The doctor says I
must slow down
I gotta leave them
alone, yeah
All I know if
I'm gonna die
What way to go

I hope it's me tonight
She's looking for
Oh, sweet young girls
I love them all

Young girls
You're driving me crazy
Young girls
I love them all
Young girls
Beautiful ladies
Young girls
I want them all

I hope it's me tonight
She's looking for
Oh, sweet young girls
I love them all

Young girls
You're driving me crazy
Young girls
I love them all, yeah
Young girls
Beautiful ladies
Young girls
I want them all, yeah
Young girls
Those beautiful ladies
Young girls
I love them all
Young girls
Oh yeah
Young girls
How old you anyway?

I hope it's me tonight
She's looking for
Oh, sweet young girls
I love them all

But from other hand, I love serious mythical lyrical subjects in addition to dark lyrics. One perfect example is Summoning which uses Tolkien's Middle-earth mythology as lyrical subject. Not to mention, their genre is Black Metal
Here is my favorite, really out-there:

From ashes and fire be broken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless shall again be king

The world is grey, the mountains old
The forge's fire is ashen and cold
No harp is wrung, no hammer falls
The darkness dwells in Druin's halls

The shadow lies upon his tomb
But still the sunken stars appeal
In the dark and windless Mirrormere
There lies his crown in water deep

'Til Druin wakes again from sleep
A deadly sword, a healing hand
A trumpet - voice, a burning hand
A lord of Wisdom...

Fire and shadow - both defied
In Khazad-Dum his wisdom died
In joy thou hast lived

If thou hearest the cry
of the Gull on the shore
Thy soul shall then rest
in the forest no more...l

about Era I love "Misere Mani " and it's great video
here is the lyrics of the song

Pera menora infane lia
Doven anore
Misere mani

I will look in the sky
I will search for the sun
Who'll tell us all about
When we'll be tomorrow

I will read all the books
On my knees countlessness
To tell you what about
The legends of the past

I will wait for the sun
On the top of the world
To tell you all about
The beauty of the light

If you look inside your soul
The world'll be longer to your eyes
You'll see...

I will stay in the rain
How can sun will come through
Then I'll see it belongs to a mystery book
I'll stay up in the night
Looking moon shooting stars
To tell you how my name
You see all universe

If you look inside your soul
The world'll be longer to your eyes
You'll see...

Pera menora infano lia
Misere mani
Doven anore infane lia
Misere manio
Doven anore infane lia
Misero omane

Pera menora infane lia
You'll see...
Doven anore
Misere mani

I will wait for the sun
On the top of the world
To tell you all about
The beauty of the light
I'll stay up in the night
Looking moon shooting stars

Doven anore infane lia
Misere manio
Doven anore infane lia
Misero omane

I will look in the sky
I will search for the sun
I will wait for the sun
On the top of the world
I will look in the sky
of the world, of the world ...

Another head hangs lowly

Child is slowly taken
And the violence causes silence
Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it’s not me
It’s not my family
In your head, in your head
They are fightin’!
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head
They are cryin!

In your head! In your head!
Zombie! Zombie! Zombie,hey,hey,hey!
What’s in your head, in your head?
Zombie! Zombie! Zombie hey, hey, hey,oh dou, dou, dou,dou dou...

Another mother’s breaking
Heart is taken over.
When the violence causes silence
We must be mistaken.
It’s the same old theme
Since 1916!
In your head, in your head
They’re still fightin’!
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head!
They are dyin’!

In your head! In your head!
Zombie! Zombie! Zombie,hey, hey,hey
What’s in your head, in your head?

Zombie! Zombie! Zombie hey, hey, hey, hey,oh, oh, oh, oh,oh, oh, oh, hey, oh, ya, ya-a!

Do you still buy CDs? Maybe it doesn't make sense regarding Iran as the country we live in :31: Or have you ever bothered to pay for music? If yup, when was it the last time?

Has it happened to u that u hate a song/band at first but you ended up loving it or conversely you loved it and then you found it hateful

I skip your first question but I cannot forget the Secret Garden

I'm really interested to buy the original CDs but the problem is that at least in my hometown I cannot find any suitable palce to find my favorite songs .. everywhere is full of Rap and Iglasias
but I'll be happy to know that is there any web site which sells the music CDs or not!
yea .. at first I used to listen to some damned Heavy Metal music but I dun like them no more ... I still love some rock music especially Alt.Rock but I dun like those meaningless acts and songs!
...
I have a suggestion:
how about turning this topic into a place to talk about the song and albums we have heard?(something like the topic about music) and beside that we would have the authority to discuss and analyze them?

hey...
the very first question is so hard to be answered... but my first Album would be a song from Secret garden by Secret Garden... second would be Eden[1991] by Sarah Brightman... n my third album would go for Levon Minassian - Songs From a World Apart( including so sad n touching songs)... n it's also unfair if I don't mention Uaral... I've got three albums of this mysterious band n I love them all....

no, I never buy CDs...just dl them on the net...but I've done it at times before... I remember once I bought one of Pink Floyd's Albums for about 15 thousand:19: ... but I did regret...

about the third one...yes...it has happened several times... for a period of time, I could never stand any kinda Metal song for even a sec....neither metal, nor Rock...Like Anathema's songs, but now I almost always listen to at least a song of them
the opposite has also happened... I adored some Celine Dion's songs but not anymore...l

Just like everybody else that lives in Iran; because there's no copyright. It's not economical to empty our wallets, while we can get them from internet for free.

I adored some Celine Dion's songs but not anymore...
I think Celine's works have been slumped in the last 7 years; especially after the album :A New Day Has Come which was her last beautiful album.

Mother Earth Lyrics

Birds and butterflies
Rivers and mountains she creates
But you'll never know
The next move she'll make You can try
But it is useless to ask why Cannot control her
She goes her own way
She rules until the end of time
She gives and she takes
She rules until the end of time

She goes her way With every breath

And all the choices that we make

We are only passing through on her way
I find my strength
Believing that their soul lives on
Until the end of time I'll carry them with me
she rules until the end of time
she gives and she takes
she rules until the end of time
she goes her way Once you will know my dear
You dont have to fear A new beginning
Always starts at the end
Once you will know my dear
You dont have to fear ...
Until the end of time x3
She goes her way
she rules until the end of time
she gives and she takes

she rules until the end of time

until the end of time until the end of time
she goes her way.

u guys have been thru metal n rock style enough :27: n I think it's kinda unfair if we don't mention other styles as well... I for one feel the absence of classic types here a lot...it's worth mentiong the men of classic types like Paul Mauriate who's been one of the most successful composers for years in all over the world or Richard Clayderman for his fabulous fingers on the Piano...they both have got numerous numbers of great songs n it's so hard just mentioning some of them....it might be a big word if I say all their tracks are worth listening, but I do claim such a big word...
n besides, lots of other bands n composers who may not be as famous as those two mentioned above like Loreena Mackennitt who is also one of my fasvs in New Age style n Tango to Evora is one of her most famous songs which I'm sure everybody is familiar with n some of us have even grown up with this song played several times on TV n radio...

or Secret Garden, a band made of two persons who won the euro-vision for the incredibly perfect song 'nocturn' in 1998(if I'm not wrong)... they also have lots of marvelous songs like 'a song from Secret Garden' ... ' ode to simplicity', 'sona', 'prayer' n ....n our TV has used their songs lots of times as a background music for different types of damn programs

n many other bands n composers which I'm a bit sleepy to mention them now so I prefer to go thru them later....

I have listened to classical music since the last autumn, right when I get access to ADSL Internet, I began downloading such albums quickly and thus my ears got familiar to this genre.
One of the most talented pianists in recent century is Daniel Pollack.
His classical performances are very beautiful and relaxing.

Yeah I love them too, I guess we can add Haggard as well

When the sound of traditional instruments fuses with the modern ones something touching comes about

One great example is "Stairway to Heaven" by "Led Zeppelin", the song at first is simple and folk but as it moves on the elements of hard rock (bass and drums) appear ... There is a great guitar solo in the song that explode your brain...One of the best songs ever

I didn't say they produced it in that way intentionally, that's what I hear when I play it backwards
To me satanism is as stupid as Christianity, whatever

I have some songs like these but I'm gonna introduce some master piece of them .. and among all of them I like Gary Hoey's Gone Surfin the most because of its very nice and melodic sound
Earth's Cry Heaven's Smile

Now I've told you this once before can't control me
If you try to take me down you're gonna break
I feel your every nothing that your doing for me
I'm thinking you oughta make you run away

I stand alone inside
I stand alone(I stand alone)

You're always hiding behind your so called godess
So what, you don't think that we can see your face?
Ressurrected back before the final fallen
I'll never rest until I can make my own way

I'm not afraid of fading
I stand alone
Feeling your sting down inside me
I'm not dying for it
I stand alone
Everything that I believe is fading
I stand alone inside
I stand alone(I stand alone)

Now it's my time (now it's my time)
It's my time to dream (It's my time to dream)
Dream of the skies (dream of the skies)
Make me believe that this place isn't plagued by the poison in me
Help me decide if my fire will burn out before you can breath
Breath into me

I stand alone inside
I stand alone

Feeling your sting down inside me
I'm not dying for it
I stand alone
Everything that I believe is fading

I nearly like all sub-genres of rock except some I will mention in the following, but classic rock is another thing. You should listen to Pink Floyd to understand what rock especially progressive rock is all about, that is the band I always turn to when I need to feel comfortably numb. If not the best band, but really up there

I don't like alternative and I think it will fade away and will not pass on to the next generations, but classic rock remains forever

BTW, some good hard rock bands that I know include (but are not limited to): Van Halen, Scorpions, Dokken

hmm .. maybe you are right because I'm not a professional music follower and I just listen to them whenever I find them on my relatives pc or internet and I dun have a very wide variety of songs so my fav songs may not be from a very wide variety of songs(Sorry I dun know the suitable english equivalent for Jameye Amari!)

I like most of what we call independent music or Indie ... considering Alternative Rock as an affiliate I love sub-genres like Grunge ... and Punk Rock as a distant relative I love that too

I don't think they gonna fade that fast .. at least , I hope ... because recently, most of what I find pleasing-to-listen is Alt. Rock

From morning to night I stayed out of sight
Didn't recognise I'd become
No more than alive I'd barely survive
In a word...overrun

Won't hear a sound
He's curled into the corner
From my mouth
But still the screen is flickering
I've spent too long
With an endless stream of garbage to
On the inside out
...curse the place
My skin is cold
In a sea of random images
To the human touch
The self-destructing animal
This bleeding heart's
Waiting for the waves to break
Not beating much

I murmured a vow of silence and now
I don't even hear when I think aloud
Extinguished by light I turn on the night
Wear its darkness with an empty smile

I'm creeping back to life
My nervous system all awry
I'm wearing the inside out

Look at him now
He's paler somehow
But he's coming around
He's starting to choke
It's been so long since he spoke
Well he can have the words right from my mouth

And with these words I can see
Clear through the clouds that covered me
Just give it time then speak my name
Now we can hear ourselves again

I'm holding out
He's standing on the threshold
For the day
Caught in fiery anger
When all the clouds
And hurled into the furnace
Have blown away
...to curse the place
I'm with you now
He's torn in all directions
Can speak your name
And still the screen is flickering
Now we can hear
Waiting for the flames to break
Ourselves again

SAMI YUSUF - You Came To Me lyrics

You came to me in that hour of need
When I was so lost, so lonely
You came to me took my breath away
Showed me the right way, the way to lead

You filled my heart with love
Showed me the light above
Now all I want Is to be with you

You are my One True love
Taught me to never judge
Now all I want Is to be with you

You came to me in a time of despair
I called on you, you were there
Without You what would my life mean?
To not know the unseen, the worlds between

For you I’d sacrifice
For you I’d give my life
Anything, just to be with you

I feel so lost at times
By all the hurt and lies
Now all I want Is to be with you

Showed right from wrong
Taught me to be strong
Need you more than ever
Ya Rasul ALLAH

You came to me
In that hour of need
Need you more than ever
Ya Rasul ALLAH

You filled my heart with love
Showed me the light above
Now all I want is to be with you

You are my One True love
Taught me to never judge
Now all I want Is to be with you

Nothing to kill or die for

I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger

As soon as your born they make you feel small,
By giving you no time instead of it all,
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school,
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool,
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years,
Then they expect you to pick a career,
When you can't really function you're so full of fear,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
Keep you doped with religion and --- and TV,
And you think you're so clever and classless and free,
But you're still fucking peasents as far as I can see,
A working class hero is something to be,
A working class hero is something to be.
There's room at the top they are telling you still,
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill,
If you want to be like the folks on the hill,
A working class hero is something to be.
A working class hero is something to be.
If you want to be a hero well just follow me,
If you want to be a hero well just follow me.

when i was a kid, we lived at usa, so my father decided that because it is a huge probability that we won`t be able to speak English fluently, it would be effective that instead of listening to American music, me and my sister listen to iranian music. and because the only cassetts he had at that time was Iranian classics, we grow up with shajarian, which we used to listen before bed time.
when i was a teenager, i really hate to listen to Iranian classics, because it made my feel like old, and listening to musics sang by shajarian and banan wasn`t fashion in my teenage times, so i avoided listening to classics.
when i was 18, i started to listen to Iranian ancient and real classic music such as vigen, marzie, susan and ebi. this kind of music opened my way of listening to all kinds of music. in a same time, my father started listening to dariush after a long time,so did i.
ii don`t know when was it, but the situation was i was depresed, and my lover left me, and i was more proud of myself, that i was doing anything not to cry that days. then i down;oaded a music in this forum, from shajarian. when i started listening to this song, it was like after 15 years i was listening to shajarian. and the poem was from hafez, and the music was just lovely, and his sound, and the mental situation i was in, all and all , i donno how to describe my feelings, but i just feld the tears on my face, i was crying after years.this was the time i realized the power of music with my heart and sole.

BTW, who are your fave female vocalists? I am a big fan of Deb Harry from Blondie, and also dido

The one and only Mariah Carey (her early songs were much better than the recent ones, Shania Twain (With her songs I felt that country is one of the best genres in music (do we have genre in music too??)
Celin Dion is one of the greatest ever.
from recent singers Rihanna and Nicole in PCD are good choices

... but from recent years I like Alanis Morissette , Shania Twain, Christina Aguilera(hate most of his videos though!) ... I'm sure I've missed one or two

I think you meant her :31:, I like Christina and her first song Genie in a bottle, which made her a star. About her videos, ain't no other man and candy man are good, aren't they???l:46:l

Katy perry is very lovable:27:

Let me talk a bit harshly about pop if you don't mind:31: Pop in no way is comparable with rock, in pop there is no real musical instrument just repetitive electronic beat just like rap. Plus, the lyrics are crap, aaah hoo oo aaa ahh I love you baby:2: and what's more, the kids that are singers don't write the songs by their own, they are a bunch of talentless mommy's little boys/girls that just have a semi-good looking faces:31: Of course there are exceptions but the general trend is what I said. My first choice would definitely go for Sarah Brightman, a singer whose voice is breathtaking... Oh! I just love her
there are lots of others who have got impressive voice, Christina, whose voice is known as the best in the world (I've heard it) .. But that's just 'hurt' which I like among her songs, 'Oh Mother' is also wirth listening
then, Dido, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion(My Heart Will Go On) ...... n!!! can't recall anyone else at the moment

Oops, u r not that fair man:27:... all yr words just goes back to yr taste..I've been thru all different types... Pop, Rock, Doom Folk Metal, Classic, Death Metal, Opera, Traditional n n n but Rap I think, n the good ones to my ears have all effected me ... have all been impressive... that's it... taste talks in here ... it depends on wot u expect from a song! sometimes that's Rock which can feed u n sometimes it can even be Pop or any other kind....

but sadly it's true that among recently released songs we have lots of poor songs, with cheap melody n lyrics n it mostly happens in Pop n Rap

In pop the focus is more on the instant likability than the depth of music, and that's why most of the songs are 3 mins or so. Anyway, let's get over it, I prefer radical music to pop music:31:l

Is there anyone who doesn't like Pink Floyd?

I'm not a fan of post-Syd floyd. I just feel after he left the band Floyd became too pretentious for me to like. When I listen to their first two albums I feel like I'm listening to a band enjoying themselves, playing the music they love. While with their other albums I get the feeling that they just sat around and said let's make pretentious self-indulgent music just because we can! and I just don't connect with it. Anyway I'm not criticizing their musical ability I just dont feel their music after 68 69. I think Syd Barrett's Floyd is one of the most influential british psychedelic bands of the 60s and their performances from that time is so fun to watch! The music's fun too :31: Piper at the Gates of Dawn just makes me happy when I listen to it. I really like "Saucerful" too. and there's this compilation of their early singles I have which is absolutely wonderful! There's this lovely song on it called "Julia Dream" that I was very shocked when I found out it was written by Roger Waters because the song just has Syd written all over it. This could be my all time favorite Floyd song :40:I also love Syd's solo albums. They're very melodic and I just love the way Syd sings :27: My other Floyd member is Rick Wright.

Just to be clear I don't hate Pink Floyd, I actually like "Meddle" "Animals" and "Wish you were here". I just don't love them like I do the Syd Barret Floyd.

Jugband Blues is so sad to listen to :41:

BTW, who are your fave female vocalists? I am a big fan of Deb Harry from Blondie, and also dido

I never thought about it! Most of my favorite vocalists are male, but to name a few females: Mary Travers of "Peter, Paul and Mary", Joan Baez, Mama Cass Elliot, Alela Diane, Janis Ian and Emmylou Harris

I love early, middle and partly late PF. And I agree A Saucerful Of Secrets and The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn are such great and mysterious albums, hopefully most of people are unaware of these albums. In addition to the songs you named, I love Remember A Day :40::40: Whoever has not listened to it, is really missing out. Yeah, Black Metal is better when it is fused with other genres...I love folk and atmospheric BM as well

That song was by the summoning, I really love this band, their lyrics are from "The Lord Of The Rings" book, and the music is majestic, epic, atmospheric...Listening to this music makes me to abandon this life and live in the mountains...BTW, they have slow and fast songs...there are two vocalists with powerful, wide vocal range

Their album covers are also great

You know one of the aspects of black metal is the protest of human against life, so you can't expect they produce something mellow. There is a philosophy behind this music, the music is cry of dissatisfaction

Don't even make me start on this one (as the manager of MP3 Player/Digital Camera I deal with sensitive/subjective issues like sound quality – headphones – preferences for different genres of music almost daily!..I it really gets frustrating sometimes, with users who've never listened to real music with real headphones!![ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ])

Anyway, IMHO it goes down to personal preferences …
if privacy is the issue: headphone …
if money is the issue: headphone (speakers cost more fore similar quality)…
if you dig more and more Bass , speaker is the winner..

and about the realistic thing you said (a better term would be Fidelity) : speakers are better choice usually because they (in music production, I mean) mix music to sound good on speakers and not (necessarily) on headphones [ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]

hi friend have you ever heard Korean musics ?? i think it is so melodious ! try it you wont become regretful :46:

I've heard Japanese music a lot (because I watch anime) .. it's fun to hear... many would say "it's girlish" .. but that's not wholly true ... I've heard a few acceptableJapanese Metal songs too! ..

I've been obsessing with Don McLean's "American Pie" (the complete album) these past few days. It's a such a great record with so many great songs! if you enjoy the lighter side of rock I definitely recommend it. Most of the songs have simple instrumentation mostly with piano and acoustic guitar.
the first track "American Pie" is one of those songs that gives me goosebumps. It's not really slow and it's definitely not a love song. But what I love about it is that it pays homage to the music I love the most. It's such an emotional song for me. I know that it's stupid but I can't even begin to describe how much I love the 60s and the music of that era. And I honestly feel like crying when McLean sings about "the day the music died" in that song :31: and in some parts of the song I feel so joyous that I actually wanna shout and sing along with it :27: and I love every little reference to the artists of that time.
Give it a try :46:

Je l'adore! I have a radical music taste, too fast or too slow, but I also try not to miss masterpieces

As for the song, I have never heard something by this guy and I found myself loving it. As you said so simple yet intricate, emotional. Let me add one more, inspiring. inoubliable classique

And here is the lyric

I was a quick, wet boy
Diving too deep for coins
All of your street light eyes
Wide on my plastic toys

Then when the cops closed the fair
I cut my long, baby hair
And stole me a dog-eared map
And called for you everywhere

Have I found you
Flightless bird, jealous, weeping
Or lost you, American mouth
Big pill looming

Now I'm a fat house cat
Nursing my sore, blunt tongue
Watching the warm, poisoned rats
Curl through the wide fence cracks

Pissing on magazine photos
Those fishing lures
Thrown in the cold and clean
Blood of Christ mountain stream

Have I found you
Flightless bird, grounded, bleeding
Or lost you, American mouth
Big pill stuck going down

If anyone finds the insrtumental version of this song , please let me now

Hey

Although I am very busy these days, I couldn't resist sending this post.
I want to introduce all songs included in Twilight movie.

Supermassive black hole.
It has a fast tempo. I like the part which says "Ooh, you set my soul alight"
IMO, It doesn't have a strong lyric, But it's still nice.

Decode from paramore
I like the way she sings it.

Full moon from the black ghosts
It has a nice lyric and I like the way it is sung.

Leaving out all the rest from linkin park
It is the first song from this band that I like. It's kinda relaxing to me.

Spotlight from Mutemath
I don't like it very much - except for the starting part.

Tremble for my beloved from Collective soul
I like the music but not the lyric

I caught myself from paramore
I like the part when says "When I caught myself, I had to stop myself...From saying something that I should have never thought"

Eyes on from Blue foundation
I like the starting part. This song gives me chills.

Never think from Robert pattinson - the actor who played Edward Cullen in the movie.
He chews every word before letting them fall.
It's like he is chewing gum and singing at the same time. Interesting.:31:
BTW, he wrote the lyric of this song by himself.

Bella's Lullaby which is performed by Robert. It's so nice. I love the sound of piano.

Let me sign another song writen and sung by Robert pattinson. It's such a nice sad song.
