--
Here we are
Setting up the first workshop for EFL members
This thread is intended to be suitable for intermediate and upper students who want to develop their listening skills
I simply don't want to host this thread because I'm good at listening, maybe the worst one even, but since I
want to progress and invite you to participate in a kind of pair work to increase our listening skills together
? Why not enjoy cooperating to developing our listening skills
So let's go further, and inject the sufficient fuel to our vehicles to last for a long time, working together on different listening sources
to one day, as it's sworn by me, enjoy having a strong listening in English
:The materials, chosen for this process of learning, including
formal speeches, formal conversations and probably slang terms
The scripts of syllabus are not even read by me, So make sure I will be the first one to make funny mistakes in listening
Don't hesitate to join us if you're too shy to make mistakes

Just 3 months ago at platform here is in Sotlex city, I asked the republic in party to leave the shroud of silence which has been dripped over the issue of HIV and AIDS. I have come tonight to bring our silence to an end. I bare a message of challenge, not self congratulation; I want your attention, not your applause. I would never have asked to be HIV positive, but I believe that in all things there is a purpose and I stand before you and before the nation gladly. The reality of AIDS is breathily clear; 200,000 are dead or dying. A million more are infected. World wide 40,000,000 60,000,000 or a hundred million infections will be counted in the coming few years. But the despite science and research white house meetings and congratunal hearings spite good intention and bold …. campaign slogans and hopeful promises. It is spited all epidemic which is wining tonight

So here is my first transcription in this topic and I took my chances to be the 1st one to put a transcription for this new part of speech.
So please don't laugh at me for my probable silly mistakes :31:
In the context of an election year, I ask you here in this great hall or listening in the quite of your home to recognize that AIDS virus is not a political creature. It is not cared whether you are democrat or republican, it is not asked whether you are black or white, male or female, gay or straight, young or old.
Tonight I represent an AIDS community whose members have been reluctantly drafted from every segment of American society. Then(→though) I am white and a mother, I am one with a black infant struggling with tubes in a Philadelphia hospital. Then(→though) I am female en(→and) counteracted this disease in marriage and enjoy the warm support of my family. I somehow dare not to post my transcript, but let's take it easy ,even though it's full of misunderstandings
This is not a distinct threat, it's a present danger, the rate of infection is increasing fastest among women and children, largely unknown a decade ago, AIDS is the third leading killer of young adult Americans today, but it won't be third for long, because unlike other diseases, this one travels, adolescents don't give each other cancer or a heart disease because they believe they are in love, but HIV is different and we have helped it long. we have killed each other with our ignorance , our prejudice and our silence. we may take refuge in our stereotypes, that we can not high there long, because HIV asks only one thing of those in a tax , are you human? , and this is the right question , are you human?

They don't benefit from being isolated or treated as outcast. Each of them is exactly what God made, a person not evil deserving of our judgment , not victims longing (!) for our pity.
People ready for support and worthy of compassion. My call to you my party is to take a public stand no less compassionate than that of the President and Mrs. Bush. here is my own one
full of mistakes , lol
In the darkest hours, I have seen them, reaching not only to me, but also to my parents, aren't with that studying grief and special grace, that comes only to parents, who have themselves, lean too long over the bedside of a dying child. With the president's leadership, much good has been done, much of the good has gone unheralded, and as the president has insisted, much remains to be done, but we do the president's cause no good, if we praise the American family, but ignore the virus that destroys it
what does this sentence mean
we do the president's cause no good

Less than three months ago, at platform hearings in Salt lake city, I asked the Republican Party to lift the Shroud of silence, that which has been draped over the issue of HIV and AIDS, I have come tonight to bring our silence to an end, I bear a message of challenge, not self-congratulation, I want your attentions, not your applause, I would never have asked to be a HIV positive, but I believe that in all things, there is a purpose, and I stand before you and before the nations gladly, the reality of AIDS is ……. brutally clear, two hundred thousand Americans are dead or dying, a Million more are infected, worldwide; forty million, sixty million, or a hundred million infections will be counted in the coming few years, that despite science and research, white house meetings and
Congressional hearings, despite good intentions and bold initiatives, campaign
Slogans and hopeful promises, it is, despite it all, the epidemic. Which is winning tonight
I think this text is correct as dear @mir posted.
There is no Sotlex city. But there is Salt Lake. I've checked it in ZDictionary and I got a answer.
Hello dear
welcome to EFL community
that part was the first one, now you're supposed to transcribe the fifth one
In the darkest hours, I have seen them, reaching not only to me, but also to my parents, aren't with
that studying grief and special grace, that comes only to parents, who have themselves, lean too long over the bedside of a dying child. With the president's leadership much good has been done, much of the good has gone unheralded, and as the president has insisted, much remains to be done, but we do the president's cause no good. if we praise the American family, but ignore the virus that destroys it
by the way I gotta say we are just doing the same thing and if I have any mistake I can copy from the top guy who answered before!!!! I think every post be for a cleared person before and the rest do the rest.

Dear Freshtj
you can do a trick in order to understand the vocabulary which you would have not ever heard
I myself make use of it
you can simply type the transcript in Microsoft Word
by so doing, you can simply understand the letters which you missed by right-clicking on the word which you doubt spelling
Good luck dear Fereshte

I bent over backwards, but couldn't understand the end of this part
full of mistakes, needs to be revised
The lesson history teaches is this, if you believe you are safe, you are at risk. If you don't see these killers stocking your children, look again, there is no family or community, no race or religion, no place left in America that is safe, until we genially embrace this message, we are a nation at risk, tonight HIV merges resolutely toward AIDS and more than a million American homes, leathering it's pass way with the bodies of the young, young man, young women young parents and young children. One of the families is mine, if it's true that HIV had never returned to AIDS, then my children would have never returned to orphans

It's not you who should feel shame, it's we who tolerate ignore and practice prejudice, we who have taught you to fear, we must lift our shroud of silence, making it safe for you to reach out for compassion, it's our task to seek safety for our children, not be quite denial by ineffective action. Someday our children will be grown, my son Max now four, will take the measure of his mother, my sons……will soar through his memories, I may not be here to hear their judgments, but I know already what I hoped they are, I want my children to know that their mother was not a victim, she was a messenger, I don not want them to think as I once did, the courage is the absence of fear, I want them to know the courage is the strength to advisedly when most we are afraid.

everyone who copies the text can be easily recognized by others and me
I know exactly who and when copied the text rather than providing a transcript

What's the use of copying other transcriptions? Increasing post count or fishing for complement?
I think the scripts are similar to each other (especially when there is no difficult word in speech) because they use the same source
It is not you who should feel shame, it is we. We who tolerate ignorance and practice prejudice. We who have taught you to fear. We must lift our shroud of silence making it safe for you to reach out for compassion. It is our task to seek safety for our children not in quiet denial, but in effective action. Someday our children will be grown. My sun Max now 4, will take the measure of his mother. My sun Zachary now 2, will soar through his memories. I may not be hear their judgments, but I know already what I hope they are. I know that their mother was not a victim, she was a messenger. My son Zakri now 2 will sort through his memories. I may not be here to hear their judgments, but I know already what I hope they are. I want my children to know that their mother was not the victim, she was a messenger, I do not want them to think as I once did, that courage is the absence of fear, I want them to know that courage is the strength to act wisely when most we are afraid

let me ask u a question pal: if I copy the text up to this line, what would happen? who's gonna know that?who knows I am doing in the right way?beside that when I see ur post I just try to match the speech with UR text not form my listening skills. let's solve it in a better way. as I suggest we have to put it in different parts and every one which the leader selects transcripts some lines and we won't have the same post and the same problems. what do u think?1
Dear AABB
I think if you copy/paste other's transcription it's of no use. There's no contest or competition, it's just a topic to improve your listening, So if anyone copy the the texts, s/he cheated him self and be sure that s/he doesn't want to learn. we don't have any prize for the best transcription..so it's for their own benefits to be honest
Good luck

I want them to have the courage to step forward when called by their nation whether party n give leadership no matter what the personal cost, I asked no more of you than I asked of myself or of my children. To the millions of you who are grieving, who are frightened, who have suffered the ravages of AIDS for instant, have courage n you will find support. you know, such upload centers ( e.g rapidshare) do not allow you to download your file through a download manager
the vyf files can be simply played by Windows Media Player
if you have still difficulty playing this format
here you go

And I will not rest Max until I have done all I can to make your world safe. I will seek a place where intimacy is not the pray lode to suffering. I will not hurry to leave you my children. And when I go I pray that you will not suffer shame on my account. To all within the sound of my voice IAPO, learn with me the lessons of history and of grace so my children will not be afraid to say: the world AIDS when I’m gone. Then their children and yours may not need to dispirit it at all. God bless the children and God bless us all. Good night

Today I want to tell you three stories from my life, that's it, no be deal- just three stories. The first story, is about connecting the dots, I dropped out early college, after the first six months, but then stayed around as a drop in for another 18 months or so, before I really quit, so why I 'd dropped out. It's started before I was born. My biological mother, was a young unwell graduate student and she decided to put me up for adoption

She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife, except that when I popped out, they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl, so my parents who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night, asking; we've got an unexpected baby boy, do you want him?, they said, of course. My biological mother found out later that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption paper. She only relented a few months later, when my parents promised that I would go to college

They said: of course. my biological mother found out later that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would go to college.

thanks alot for the new link:11:
well i really don't know what the problem is. i try to download the persiangig links with Flahget, but the download doesn't start and it's shown as unsuccessful download. i try to open the link in my browser and this time DAP starts the download automatically but the same thing happens. i receive no errors to know what the problem really is:41: i've always had problem with rapidshare so those links couldn't help me either.
i really want to know why this happens and why only these files have problem, 'cuz i have no problem downloading songs from other links. i'm gonna try those persiangig links again tonight, maybe my unknown problem's solved!
thanks again dear mohammad:11:l

Good luck with your real progression in listening
This was the start in my life.In 17 years lateri did go to college but i now evenly chose a college that was almost as expensive as stamford & all of my working class parents savings will be spend on my college toition.
After 6 month i couldn't see the value in it, I had no idea what i wanted to do in my life & no idea how college was going to help me figure it out & here i was spending all the money my parents had saved into their entire life, So i decided to drop out & trust that it whould all work out ok.
It was pretty scary at the time but looking back it was one my best decisions i've ever made.
The minute i dropd out i could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me & begine dropping in on the onesthat look far more interesting
Pls give us your transcribe dear active members to correct our mistakes.:20: Love you all

Hello!
This was the start in my life. And 17 years later, I did go to college. But I (not evilly) chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford. And all of my working class parents saving (will be) spent on my college (to wishen).

The minute I dropped out, I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me and begin drop-in(dropping) on the ones that look far more interesting.

hello Mr Brain. this is what i understood from your last track. i hope others help me with my listening mistakes.
The lack of training probably helped me.. you know.. I started doing magazines.. I just did.. well it made sense to me.. I didn’t.. you know.. I read article and tried to interpret it. And then later other people said "lay, you cant do that.. those don't go there.. you can't.. you know".. and just self-indulgent was the big negative term that which I think is a very positive term. I wouldn't want anybody working for me that wasn't doing very self-indulgent work.. totally absorbed in it…so as we get more computerized I think it becomes more important than ever that the work actually come more subjective, more personal, and that lets your personality come true in the work. So it becomes more important that you pull for who you are as a person and put that into your work

There's a useful topic for all of you my friends.I've read it and i can tell you if you study the below topic, your listening will change.

Hey..Hi Bloke..I have Just Spared Some time to Give this One a Try..Sorry if Its late..You know What I have Been through :D
Here You can Have The Full text:D
sketch is basically obviously a miniature of something that is 70 ft long, which is hard to imagine......18 ft high....uh and knowing that there are over 500 bison roaming free on Antelope Island in Davis County (I might go there, by the way), uh, the idea that all these animals are in a nature preserve, and living together on some level, or at least interacting on some level, seem to make sense
out of how the over lays have been...uh, have something to do with this community, which consists of bighorn sheep, pronghorn antelope, bison, coyotes, which is what's in the sketch....so the basic idea is to reproduce the cave on the 80 ft wall
Near The Davis country center, take it out of the cave and put it in the parking lot, as it were, in hopes of evoking some memory that uh, the Native Americans found this sacred knowledge in Davis Country finds sacred, that there is a wild life preserve there, so I'm very excited about working on it........
It Was Long. And Hard ..Abit :D..Any way..I hope It Can Be Useful:D

Good old days. I remember we had a very good time here,
this topic is certainly one of the most useful topics of this forum, and I was wondering if we could continue our listening workshop here?
and just wanna see if you guys are interested in it or not ?
it's not a big thing to do
we mostly share a 1 to 2 minute track and in a given time you are supposed to listen to it and write it down word by word and then the one who has put the track will come up with the correct transcript so that we can check ourselves and see how good we are at listening.
anyone interested, just let me know so that we can start it at any time you want
