hi hi hi....
oh, and of course happy new year...

ok, it's leisure time and I fill it out with some English study.

alright.. who really wanna learn 1100 words .. I mean 1100 technical words ? yeah, it's difficult but if you follow my instructions I promise you you'll learn more than 1100.
ok, here's a book called 1100 words and that's one of my favorite books. I think I've perused it three times and I'm ready to give you my experiences I got from learning words.

rest assured that no teacher , not any organization , not any institution can teach words to you the I way I'm going to do. no, don't get it wrong... I'm not a teacher, not a professor and not anything else .. I'm just a boy who goes crazy for studying English. that's all.

Ok, lets' cut to the chase..

the instructions are as follow:

1. 46 weeks.:46:

2. everyday with 5 technical words.

3. at the end of each day one idiom will be presented.

4. word origins will explicitly be described.

5. the first page will be updated every now and then.

6. presenting a proverb after each 5 words.

how about it ?

I'm sick of verbosity. I'd better show you the first assignment I've just prepared...

Please write ONLY in English unless in case of emergencies.

ok, let's rock 'n roll.

if you wanna catch up with me you'd better buy this book because there are some short story clips which would help you review the words in sentences.

I use Longman for translating...

voracious
adjective
1. eating or wanting large quantities of food:
خوردن یا طلبیدن غذای زیاد I only translate for those who have difficulties in translating
• Caterpillars are voracious leaf-eaters.
لاروها (کرم صد پا) برگ خوار های پرخوری هستند.
• Kids can have voracious appetites.
بچه ها می توانند اشتهای سیری ناپذیری داشته باشند.
2. extremely eager to read books, gain knowledge etc.:
(معنای مجازی) مشتاق به خواندن کتاب و فراگیری دانش و غیره..
• a voracious reader
یه (کتاب) خوان سیری ناپذیر
voraciously adverb
voraciousness noun [U]
voracity noun [U]

now it's time to pay attention to the ORIGIN of this word which is very sweet. one of the most crucial things which led me to catching the concept of the words was finding the ORIGIN of the words. I daresay it consists 50% of leaning a word. attend to the first Word Origin:

1600-1700 Latin vorax from vorare to swallow

I'm sure that you guys have heard the word DEVOUR right ?
as you can see it has [U]vor in it either. so wherever you saw vor in a word don't hesitate to guess it would have the same related meaning... but this theory is not always true .. there r some rules... some exceptions.

indiscriminate
adjective
1. indiscriminate killing, violence, damage etc. is done without any thought about who is harmed or what is damaged:
خشونت، کشتار و خسارت و غیره ای که به این صورت اجرا میشه جوری اجرا میشه که اصلا به ان موضوع کاری نداره که کی صدمه دیده یا چی خسارت دیده... یعنی بدون تبعیض
• Troops were accused of indiscriminate killings of civilians.
سربازان پیاده متهم به کشتار بدون تبعیض (بلا استثنای) غیر نظانیان شدند.
indiscriminate sexual intercourse
جماع با هر کس که پیش آید.
2. not thinking carefully before you make a choice
بدون تصمیم گیری دقیق (یعنی تصمیم گیری همینطوری)
indiscriminately adverb

the antonym is discriminate

so, the above mentioned word consists of in- + discriminate

the prefix in- in most of the time means not.

1600-1700 Latin discriminare to divide from discernere see DISCERN

OMG, that's beautiful... it's saying the origin of this word is comin' from DISCERN ... I don't know you know the meaning of this word or not.. but it means:
تشخیص دادن

1300-1400 Latin discernere to separate from cernere to SIFT

Oh, my Lord, unbelievable. have you ever heard
سرن کردن
in Persian which means:
الک کردن ؟

as you can see it consists:
dis- +
-cern
(سرن کردن، الک کردن)

discriminate exactly means:
الک کردن و بیختن... یه جور جدا کردن و تبعیض قائل شدنه.

see how words are related to each other ? see how languages communicate with each other ?
you'll see more..

OK, these two words are enough for tonight

and...

Try to devour the words voraciously and indiscriminately.

OK, we continue...

eminent
adjective
famous and admired by many people:
مشهور و مورد تحسین مردم.... برجسته

انسان شناسی برجسته.
note: DO NOT confuse this word with IMMANENT, IMMINENT

steep2
verb [I,T] as you can see it's verb.. steep is also adjective

----------------------------------------
the first day and the first 5 technical words r finished ...

lemme tell you some non-technical words written in this page:

bookworm
noun [C]
1. someone who likes reading very much.
خرخون
don't you think that shadow of destiny is a bookworm ?
2. an insect that eats paper
کرم کتاب

before I close this part I recommend you find the correct pronunciation of these words and then use them in sentences. I emphasize again... try to swallow and then digest the words. learning by rote is nothing but just a waste of time because you'll forget them before you memorize them.

now who can make some examples for these five words ?
