The Rat
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]
The Rat combines appallingly poor skill in managing a castle with a shockingly naive grasp of miltary tactics. Making him one of the most useless opponents in the game!
Nicknames: Duc de Puce, The Stoat, The Weasel, The Ferret, Duc Camembert, Duc Souris, Duc Morceaux, Le Grand Fromage
Difficulty: Pathetic
Missile troops built: Archers
Melee troops built: Spearmen
Castle rating: *
Pathetic in all regards. Don't use his paths though, break down the walls by his keep.
Tactics: To take on the Rat, build anything but archers and spearmen. I suggest swordsmen. No matter how well he's doing, 24 of them will wipe him out!!!

The Pig
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]
The Pig, whilst not being one of the region's best economists, likes a fight. His greed for (other people's) gold will soon have him 'trying it on', with even the smallest of siege forces.
Nicknames: Duc Truffe, The Duke of Pigsbury, The Hog, The Old Boar, The Earl of Bacon, Baron von Bloater, The Earl of Hogsbottom, The Whole Hog
Difficulty: Easy - Medium
Missile troops built: Crossbows
Melee troops built: Macemen
Castle Rating: **
Non-crenellated, however the 2 towers of crossbows can prove annoying. Treb them out before a direct assault.
Tactics: Another fairly easy kill, however you must watch his crossbowmen. Treb out his walls, then move in with crossbows to take out any remaining crossbowmen. Have a garrison of pikemen and/or swordsmen handy to take out the macemen. Move in for the kill. Fire isn't effective here; you'll burn one or two things down, but not before he sends in crossbows to take out your ballista.

The Wolf
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]
The Wolf holds his castle in an iron grip, but it is his passion for warfare that makes him one of the most feared opponents. Deliberate and cunning, he will use every military trick and tactic at his disposal to win the day.
Nicknames: Duc Volpe, Lord Fairfang, Lord Lupus, Earl Redclaw, Lord Crackbone, Lord Howlingtop, Lord Greyback, The Big Bad Wolf
Difficulty: Hard
Missile troops built: Archers, Crossbowmen
Melee troops built: Swordsmen, Pikemen
Siege equipment built: Catapults, Mangonels, Fire Ballista, Siege Oilers
Castle rating: **
Though looking offensive, is EXTREMELY vulnerable to attack by fire.
Tactics: To defend against the Wolf, be sure to have crossbowmen standing guard. Archers will help against the pikemen, but will do you no good against his swordsmen. Killing the wolf can prove to be a challenge as he fills his keep with swordsmen. I recommend obliterating his castle and trebbing his keep. This will take out many of his tougher troops. Another tactic would be to assault the castle with a lot of crossbowmen, after his mangonels have been taken care of. You can destroy his economy by setting fire to the rear of his castle, which has been left quite undefended. Another bonus while fighting him is his cruelty level. On average his troops will be -2, a good sign for you. Watch out though, as he tends to use pitch!!!

Saladin
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]
More than any other Lord, Saladin knows how to run the desert economy. He will be in no great rush to lead his forces out into the field, but when he strikes, it will be from a position of power.
Nicknames: "The Wise", "The Just", "The Kind", "The Fair", "The Magnificent", "The Honourable", "The Noble", "The Greatest"
Difficulty: Hard
Missile troops built: Horse archers, Arabian archers, fire throwers
Melee troops built: Arabian swordsmen, assassins
Siege equipment built: Catapults, fire ballistae
Castle rating: ****
Uses round towers with mangonels and ballistae. Also uses moat. It is very weak to fire however.
Tactics: Try to take out the mounted siege equipment on the towers first with a combination of horse archers and fire ballistae, or destroy the towers with lots of catapults or trebuchets (the quicker the better). While those are keeping his units busy, use fire ballistae and/or slaves to set fire to the bakeries and hovels outside closest to his walls. This should set off a blazing fire in his castle, killing most of the units around the campfire. To enter, either break down the gatehouse or a wall, and use 100 or so macemen to kill the lord. Make sure that as many troops as possible on the keep have been killed, especially the fire throwers.

The Caliph
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]
Cruel and vindictive, the Caliph is skilled at bringing misery to both his own people and to yours. If he can get his tyrannical act together, his underhand methods of fighting will prove a constant thorn in your side.
Nicknames: The Scorpion, The Jackal, The Camel, The Vulture, The Crab, The Hyena, The Bad One, The Desert Rat
Difficulty: Medium
Missile troops built: Arabian Bows, Fire Throwers, Horse Archers
Melee troops built: Arabian Swordsmen
Siege equipment built: Fire Ballistae, Catapults
Other weapons built: Boiling Oil, Pitch Ditches
Castle Rating: ***
Even though the Caliph has thin walls with only lookout towers, his extensive use of fire makes up for it. Try to demolish all the lookout towers you can and have an overload of your melee troops. Fire throwers, pitch, and oil must be avoided as much as possible. If some pitch is triggered, get your troops out, then move in once the fire's gone.
Defense Strategy: Several archers (~10) guarding quarries and/or farms will do in the beginning, because the Caliph will send slaves to torch your quarries or farms, depending if you have quarries or not. When he attacks, think smaller-scale Saladin; horse archers, Arabian swordsmen, slaves, fire ballistae and catapults, so have mounted ballistae and archers or crossbowmen. Add in some supporting fire ballistae at the front wall of your castle, this'll help a lot.

The Sultan
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]
The Sultan is more...say...a poet, than a warrior, preferring feasting to the humdrum matters of running his own castle. In short not the sharpest sword in the desert. His people love him, however, and his soldiers will fight well to defend him.
Nicknames: Abdul, Ahmed, Mustapha, Hashim, Karim, Malik, Shaheed, Waheeb
Difficulty: Pathetic
Missile troops built: Fire Throwers
Melee troops built: Arab Swordsmen
Castle Rating: *
Simple, and even easier than the Rat's to siege.
Tactics: Send in some crossbowmen or archers to deal with the throwers, advance them to clear out the keep, then move in with some swordsmen to kill the lord. It’s that easy.

The Lionheart Richard
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] The Lionheart has a reasonable grasp of the region's economy for a soldier, but it is in the field of battle where he is in his element. Brave and fearless, his ability to siege a castle is second to none.
Nicknames: Richard I, Richard II, Richard III, Richard IV, Richard V, Richard VI, Richard VII, Richard VIII
Difficulty: Hard
Missile troops built: Archers
Melee troops built: Swordsmen, Pikemen
Siege equipment built: Tunnelers, Catapults, Ballista, Mangonels, Siege Oilers
Castle Rating: *****
Concentric Design, VERY hard to get into, and very productive.
Tactics: When assaulting Richard, beware his kindness. Yes, that’s right, using the flowerpower, his troops have an automatic bonus vs yours. Send in 3x as much as you originally thought needed. His defensive array is quite spectacular as well. 2 ballistae set well back from the front will skewer you before you can say his full name!!! I recommend an assault from the rear, and take the ballistae out first. Use crossbows and archers for this one. The speed of the archers will help to start the assault, then cover with the crossbows. For attacking him I suggest burning his castle down with fire ballistae, then moving in with horse archers and luring his troops out into the fire. Other than that, use trebs or crossbows to take out some of the swordsmen, then move in with your own swords or macemen.

Emperor Frederick
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] Emperor Frederick is perhaps the best alround strategist in the desert. There are few weaknesses in his armour and left alone he will over time become a mighty force.
Nicknames: Emperor Frederick I, Emperor Frederick II, Emperor Frederick III, Emperor Frederick IV, Emperor Frederick V, Emperor Frederick VI, Emperor Frederick VII, Emperor Frederick VIII
Difficulty: Hard
Missile troops built: Archers, Crossbowmen
Melee troops built: Knights, Swordsmen
Siege equipment built: Mangonel, Trebuchet, Catapult
Castle Rating: *****
Frederick's castle is arguably one of the best AI castles in the game. It is large, well defended, and moat-surrounded. He occasionally has trebuchets ready to attack any close enough buildings including siege tents so watch for those. He also has a battery of towers at the tip of his castle manned with mangonels. Try to get troops on top of it when you siege.
Defense Strategy: Just like King Phillip, Frederick will also get knights to destroy buildings pretty early, so get crossbowmen quick. He also sieges very similar to Richard, just with knights coming and going, so crossbowmen and ballistae are effective again here, just also add extra fire ballistae near the base of your walls.

King Phillip
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] King Phillip seeks glory and prestige from his desert adventure. His reckless insistence on the use of his knights as his main fighting force is more often than not, his undoing.
Nicknames: King Phillip I, King Phillip II, King Phillip III, King Phillip IV, King Phillip V, King Phillip VI, King Phillip VII, King Phillip VIII
Difficulty: Easy
Missile troops built: Archers
Melee troops built: Spearmen, Knights
Siege equipment built: None
Castle Rating: **
A thick section of wall in front, with a moat in the back. Uses ballista-manned square towers. Disable the ballistae first before a full assault.
Defense Strategy: Get archers and/or crossbowmen quickly, as Phillip will send about 4 knights early on and constantly, to destroy your farms. When Phillip attacks, he sends about 20-30 spearmen with no siege weapons or missile units. At least 15-20 archers can quickly take them all out, but keep crossbowmen at your walls to defend against knights.

The Sheriff
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]
The Sheriff is the cruelest lord in the land and easily the most underhand. He will use Arab or Crusader alike, along with every dirty castle defense he can lay his hands on, to further his own self-interest.
Nicknames: Sheriff of Nottingham, Sheriff of Derby, Sheriff of Lincoln, Sheriff of Leicester, Sheriff of Coventry, Sheriff of Chester, Sheriff of York, Sheriff of Ockbrook
Difficulty: Medium
Missile troops built: Crossbowmen, Fire Throwers
Melee troops built: Macemen, Assasins
Siege equipment built: Catapults, Fire Ballistae
Castle Rating: **
While the Sheriff's castle is massive and well defended, it is extremely susceptible to fire. Have slaves or fire ballistae burn his buildings to annihilate his economy.
Defense Strategy: Have crossbowmen and ballistae on your walls, and protecting farms and quarries too, as the Sheriff will send macemen to destroy these as well. His attacks are similar to the Pig's, but he will toss in some assassins so have some melee troops (probably 2-5 swordsmen should do) on each gatehouse.

The Marshal
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]
This retired fighter tends to play things a little more cautiously than he once did. The sight of his knights sallying forth from his castle is still a warning to anyone however.
Nicknames: Marshal, Sir Longarm, Marshal, Sir Tramplefoot, Marshal, Sir Rollington, Marshal, Sir Chufflewhip, Marshal, Sir Lancingtonsmithe, Marshal, Sir Portslipper, Marshal, Sir Bushhoofer, Marshal, Sir Nosebagger.
Difficulty: Easy
Missile troops built: Archers
Melee troops built: Relies heavily on knights, with a few swordsman
Siege engines built: Catapults
Castle Rating: *
The Marshall makes the mistake of not building a back wall to his castle, making it quite easy to go in the backdoor. His castles are usually made of thick, crenellated walls with towers with archers on them. He has actually enclosed his keep in a small fraction of games I've played against him, but his small gate is easily removed by infantry or siege equipment.
Tactics: He will constantly rush you with knights, probably as much as 20 at a time, so have lots of crossbowman ready. If you have enough to defeat a knight rush, you should be pretty much protected from his attacks. To defeat him just build a large melee army and attack his lord, as his keep is never enclosed. If he does enclose his keep, I usually destroy his gate with macemen, as there is not enough defense to cause noticeable damage to your army.

The Abbot
[ برای مشاهده لینک ، لطفا با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ]
The Abbot considers himself entrusted with the defense of his faith. His vindictive monks will continually amass in vast numbers to pull down the walls of their enemies.
Nicknames: Abbot of Stirling, Abbot of Dumfries, Abbot of Kirkbride, Abbot of Ayr, Abbot of Leith, Abbot of Dunbar, Abbot of Clyde, Abbot of Montrose
Difficulty: Easy
Missile troops built: Archers
Melee troops built: Only monks, built by the hundreds and thousands.
Siege engines built: Catapaults and Ballistae
Castle Rating: *
Builds rectangular castles with thick walls and towers at the corners, but does not put crenellations on the walls. He will occasionally build another rectangular courtyard in his castle, connecting it to the one surrounding the keep with a large gate. The castle will be defended by ballistae and archers, and the keep and area around the cathedral will be swarming with monks.
Tactics: Be prepared to fight off seemingly endless amounts of monks. I've seen him send a wave of about 800 at me. Fortunately, monks are slow and die with a few archer or crossbow shots, so just have about 20 archers and he won't be able to get near you. Of course, more is better. When you want to attack him, a good strategy is to build a siege tower and a LOT of infantry. Tell the tower to mount his uncrennelated walls, then put your infantry and bowmen on top. It's probably pretty easy to clear the keep using missile fire, and a large infantry when told to attack the keep usually kills the Lord.
