This is a information age, where knowledge of computer is as essential as learning alphabets. Computer lesson therefore has been introduced from primary school curriculum in most of the countries of the world. Without learning computer lesson, one can neither move further in their professional career, nor he can remain up-to-date with modern development taking place in various fields. Recent development of Internet technology has created such a revolution in modern life that people without any knowledge of computer lesson will become obsolete in their day-to-day life. Therefore many adults are also found to be joining various computer-learning institutes in order to get themselves familiar with the knowledge of computers and their usage.
In order to be computer literate, there are few basic computer lesson, that is required to be learned so that one can become fairly comfortable with computers. We need not worry for the younger generations, as their computer lesson plan has already been made by the education courses. We have to train the old generation, who did not get enough opportunity to learn about computers during their early part of life as their was neither enough penetration of computers, nor computers were so easily available in college or institutions.
To start with following computer lesson is essential, which can re-orient them to get familiar with computers.
Computer hardware/software and its architecture: The adults should be introduced with various hardware parts of PC such as Keyboard, CPU, Display unit, printer, mouse etc. They should also learn how all these hard-ware parts are to be inter connected to form a computer system. They should also be taught the basic functions of each hardware parts. The concept of software also should be understood so that they may understand that without software the computer is totally helpless. Since the adults have learnt various things in their life so there is no need to give them detailed information about computer architecture, as they will eventually learn them while using them regularly. More emphasis should be given on hands on exposure to computer rather than class-room training. In the computer lesson plan, office software is very important topic, which should be taught thoroughly as they can identify the difference between working manually and the ease of doing the same activity by using computer in their regular day-to-day activities.
Introduction to Internet is also must for the adults so that they can conveniently use this medium to collect various information and update themselves with latest technology. The use of email is also very essential which also should be taught in their computer lesson.
With this beginning the adults can be oriented into logical thinking and with time and the interest level of individual person (which may vary from person to person), they will soon be comfortable with computers.
