I have many teachers and I learned a lot from all of them. But there's one whom I'll remember till the end of my life. He's one of the best in Iran.
Anyone who ask me about where to go to learn English, I recommend his classes, actually I recommend everyone to attend his classes just once and I'm sure they'll continue till the end of his classes.
His name is Mr. Rezvani (Actually Dr. Rezvani, he has P.H.D in "statistics"),anyway everyone call him Doctor.
He's great I can say I've learnt most of my English in his classes, when you enter his classes you can see people between the age of 16-60..and more than 70 people in his lower level classes.:18:.

I love his method. He teaches words by etymology. So you can learn a wide range of words with just simple rules. after etymology classes you learn synonym words. I mean words with almost the same meanings. and after words with latin, fench, italian, spanish roots.

His characteristics:
He teaches by the help of stories, public events etc...
He can teach just one word in the period of 2 hours of the class
He's so fun,you can't stop laughing during his classes:31:(I love this part)
He never sit down in his classes
He never says that He knows everything, He has a big dictionary on his desk and refer to it many times during the class.
He teaches many useful words, after his classes, when ever I turned on CNN or BBC, I could hear his vocabularies many times
I always admire his memory..He can remember any of his students any time:46:

All for now:31:, with my info what do u think about him??l
like to know about others' teachers

I really appreciate it, he is a good teacher I believe and I guess I've heard his name before

That's so nice of you to admire him here; I wish he could read what you wrote about him too.

I believe attitude is the key to success,

Having fun in class is really important, students should enjoy coming to class..

About learning words, he has the best way, because you will learn to make new words yourself and he will practice it as much as it is necessary.

So tell us about the way he practice speaking with students

and how long does it take usually for a fresh man to speak fluently with his method, I believe this is very useful for other teachers to know more about a successful teacher.

If you like you can provide his telephone number, so potential students can attend his classes as well.

Any one else who likes to share his best teacher's characteristics with us?

well, he don't practice speaking in his classes, There are some other classes for speaking beside his classes. When I was there, with registering for one term, you could attend his classes twice a week and speaking classes once a week. But it's been a year since these two classes are separated and should be paid twice as much:41:.

I believe that this attitude is a talent and not everyone has it.Different teachers should have ways not to let student get bored in their classes. In my opinion being fun is the bestway. Mr. Rezani tells many jokes in his classes and the jokes are related to what he's teaching. It's really great.

No fresh man can enter his classes. You should finish all courses in his institute which is about 20 terms, and then you can attend his classes. Or you can take the entrance exam (it's like Toefle PBT exams) ,if you get over 450 you can participate in his classes. The translation course which he teaches is about 30 terms. Each term last for 8 weeks, It takes about 6years to finish all:46:.

I can't write any phone number in public rooms,if anyone is interested can write a private message to me.

P.s. Thanks Babak for opening this topic:11:, I believe that if every one join here, it would be a great topic

Hi
Thanks dear Babak for creating a great topic like this.

I have had many great teachers too. One of them named Mr. Shamshiri was my teacher for about 4 levels in ILI. He was great because :

1 - He had been living in America for about 10 years and knew the terms and grammar very well
2 - He never spoke Persian in class and always insisted on having students speak in English too.
3 - He was so aggressive on asking questions from the last lessons from students. This helps to stay ready all the time.
4 - He knew how to teach. I mean he used to teach English grammar simply and by the way effectively.
5 - He failed me one time. At that time I thought that I didn't deserve to fail but later I found out that it would be better if I had failed in earlier terms because I could learn more things. I mean he knew his students and their abilities.
6 - His class wasn't boring at all and he was always trying to make learning English fun

I think I should appreciate his care and effort about myself.
Sorry to bother

I think one of best methods is having reviews from previous lessons, Because when you repeat something it'll stay in your mind much better.

I'm not a gree with just speak English in classes, Sometimes it's necessary to speak Farsi ,But just sometimes! what do you think?l

Yeah I agree with the first line of your comment. But the second line I think if you are obliged to use a language you will use it in the best way and so you will learn more.
This was just my opinion

I like what you have explained and I should say I have learnt fromyou, I hope other good speakers come to this topic and let us know more

summary of what you have written

a good teacher is who

: Make a good spirit in class like

A happy face with smile not too sever
Use jokes and amusing examples related to the subject ofteaching
Try to teach happily and with fun

Care about students

follow up their homework
Review what he/she has taught at the end of each session
Ask them what he/she has taught in previous sessions

Having A good method of Teaching English

Teaching grammar easily & with help of useful examples
Make students Speak English in Class as much as it is possible
Being strict about her students, even if they don't like it
(Speak Only English In Class which I agree in some extent)

:My comment

As a teacher I know that using mother tongue in classes usually leads to more harm than good, but if a teacher use Mother Tongue as a tool to improve English ( a successful Bilingual Class, like Cambridge English classes), then using Farsi in class can make learning English even easier.

?What is a biolingual Class

A bio lingual Class is a class which teachers can use mother tongue

To teach grammar
Ask students to find a synonym functions for a Farsi sentences
This method is the newest method which could lead many students to quick success

But the point is, a good teacher should be very skillful to use this method effectively.

Thank you all again for sharing with us

I really appreciate
