به طور كلي محيط Desktop ، محلي است كه تمامي فايلهاي مورد نياز و ميانبرهاي نرم افزارهايي كه بيشتر از آنها استفاده مي كنيد در آن گرداوري مي شود .
كلمه Desktop به معناي ميز كار است .
اما شايد برايتان جالب باشد كه به جاي يك ميز كار ثابت كه شباهت چنداني به ميز كار واقعي ندارد ، يك ميز كار سه بعدي داشته باشيد و قادر باشيد تا ميز كار خود را به سليقه خود بچينبد و آيكون ها را جا به جا كنيد !
پس از نصب نرم افزار ، تمامي آيكونها موجود در دسكتاپ كامپيوتان بر روي يك ميز كار مجازي قرار داده شده است كه خودتان مي بايست به دلخواه شروع به چيدمان آنها كنيد .
حال كافي است چند ثانيه اي ماوس را از دسكتاپ خود دور كنيد …. حال به تابلويي كه در جلوي ميز كار شا قرار دارد مي نگريد !!!
براي مشاهده ميز كار كافي است دوباره ماوس را به محيط دسكتاپ ببريد ، دوباره ميز كار خود را مشاهده خواهيد كرد .
