A leaked User Agent Profile (UAProf) is one of the least reliable sources of accurate information about an upcoming mobile device. That said, the new UAProf leak for the Samsung Galaxy S III looks a bit more realistic, although not 100% believable.

The leaked document lists the screen resolution of the Galaxy S III as 1024x600. On first glance, that seems like a resolution high enough to be real, and the 16:9 aspect ratio is very interesting as well. A true 16:9 ratio on the screen would likely make for a slightly more elongated form factor than what we normally see on smartphones. The trouble we have is that the resolution doesn't hit HD capability.


Sure, it's certainly possible that Samsung would forgo HD if it were really necessary. But, Samsung probably really wants to be able to push HD in its marketing scheme for the phone, so that's why it's hard to believe it wouldn't be an HD screen. The screen may very well have a 16:9 aspect ratio, but we're pretty sure that ultimately the phone will have a 720p screen.

Without a doubt, MWC 2012 is the event that the tech-savvy crowd is looking forward to right now. And that should come as no surprise as the most well-known smartphone and tablet manufacturers are expected to unveil their latest and greatest gadgets and gizmos.


Of course, it is hard to tell what Samsung, HTC, Nokia, LG, Sony, and the rest of the gang are going to show off at MWC 2012. However, we believe that we have done a good job at making a list of all the suspects. Now go grab a cup of coffee and read along for all the spicy details.






HTC

That Sony is expected to introduce at least one new Xperia smartphone at MWC 2012 is something that we are already aware of. As promised yesterday, Panasonic unveiled the specifications of their Android smartphone dubbed the Eluga, expected to debut on the European market this March.

The poorly named Eluga is powered by a dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor and 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which we have come to expect from high-end droids these days. At the front we find a 4.3-inch OLED display with qHD 960 x 540 pixels resolution.
It's also water- and dust-proof with NFC on-board. Remarkably, this hasn't made the device as thick as one might expect. The Eluga is just 7.8mm thick and weighs only 103grams, which, to bring it in a perspective, beats the Galaxy S II hands-down.
The reason for the phone's little hump at the back is the 8MP auto-focus snapper with image stabilization. Speaking of the back, underneath the back cover resides 1,150 mAh battery good for 300h of standby and 240 minutes of talk time.
The Eluga will run Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 when initially sold with Ice Cream Sandwich coming in the Spring of this year, or at least that's what Panasonic promises.
Pocket-lint.com have obviously managed to get their hands on the Eluga recently at the Panasonic Convention 2012 in Hamburg. They also tested the phone's toughness under water. Check out the photos below.

We are really starting to worry that at the rate these leaks are going, Sony won't have much news for us at its MWC press conference on Sunday. The Sony Xperia U, which is one of the smartphones to go official there, leaked once again - this time in an extensive live photo session.

The Xperia U is said to be built around a 3.5" qHD LCD and feature a 1GHz dual-core CPU and 512 MB of RAM. A 5 megapixel camera replaces the 12 megapixel monster we saw on the Xperia S, but the OS at launch should still be Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich should be pushed as an update shortly after, though.

Three days before the HTC MWC press conference the curtain was lifted a little bit higher and we got to learn a bit more about their upcoming Android smartphones. As we know the Taiwanese company will unveil the HTC One X, HTC One E and HTC One S (yes, they do spell that).

HTC set up a teaser on [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] for the One X. The smartphone sketch with the number 5 in the middle is said to refer to the number of processing cores in the Tegra 3 chipset (counting the companion core). Alternatively, HTC might have a couple of surprises for us and announce 5 smartphones at the MWC. They unveiled just as many last year so it's not unimaginable we'll see a replay.

The previously known as HTC Ville smartphone will feature a 4.3" qHD screen, which might even be a Super AMOLED. The HTC One S managed to score 60.6 fps at NenaMark2, which is quite an impressive score. To put things in perspective, the most powerful of the current HTC smartphones, the Sensation XE, scored just under 27fps on the same benchmark.

But don't worry - the Taiwanese haven't abandoned the tablet market, they just need some more time to prepare their next slate and it should come out by the end of the year. Also, they might be waiting for the 4G networks to gain a larger market share as the next HTC tablet is said to feature LTE connectivity.
Finally, we also understood that HTC has big plans about integrating NFC in its smartphones, and it will be available on every one of their smartphones from Q3. Hopefully, the One X and One E will have it a few months in advance.

The Acer CloudMobile was recently shown off at an event in Milan, Italy to the press. The folks at Cellular Magazine who attended the event thankfully managed to get a hands-on video of the device in action. Unfortunately, the video is not in English but you can get a decent idea about the phone.
The Acer CloudMobile is easily the most interesting phone to have come out of Acer. The CloudMobile also comes loaded with some pretty great features.
For starters there is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich available out of the box, which instantly earns it major brownie points. The device in the video above also has a separate row of capacitive keys below the display but that can be excused since it is a prototype device. The device shown in the press images does not have these extra keys.

The phone is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress next week, which is when we will find out more about it.

Fujitsu teased its Tegra 3 smartphone at CES in January and promised to tell us more about it at the MWC at the end of this month. As it turns out, the wait has been well worth it, as the prototype about to be showcased has more than a powerful chipset to show.
The company gave us some details about the smartphone in advance and we got to know that it will pack an impressive 13 megapixel camera and NFC connectivity. There's also going to be a fingerprint scanner onoboard, so you can prevent unauthorized access to your smartphone.
One of the coolest bits about the upcoming Fujitsu smartphone is that it will be both water and dust resistant. We assume it's using some kind of nanocoating as most of the phones from Japanese manufacturers demonstrated at CES.
Coming with a 4.6" screen, this Fujistu smartphone is shaping up to be one of the hottest smartphones of the season. We'll make sure to stop by the company's booth at the MWC and see if the actual product matches the high expectations created by those specs. Here's hoping!

Samsung officially showed off a new Exynos chipset with four Cortex-A9 cores and a new GPU at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference. The new chip boasts both performance and battery improvements.
It's built using a 32nm process rather than the 45nm process used for current Exynos chipsets. Each CPU core can be switched off and even half of the 1MB L2 cache can be disabled to preserve power.
According to Samsung, this results in 26% performance boost compared to their current Exynos chipsets. Energy saving for CPU-bound tasks goes up to 45%, while rendering 3D takes up to 48% less energy.

The new chipset uses the latest GPU (presumably from the Mali series), with one geometry engine and four pixel processors.
The chipset will be available with clock speeds for the processor ranging from 200MHz to 1.5GHz. There's support for both LPDDR2 and the newly announced LPDDR3, and a dual-core version of the chipset is planned, too.
Samsung will be showing off their new Exynos at the MWC and we might even get to see a product with it, but we'll have to wait a couple days more to find out.

NEC may not be among the top cellphone manufacturers, but that's because its phones and tablets are sold exclusively in Japan. Soon this is likely to change as it seems NEC is preparing to showcase at least three devices at the MWC 2012 in Barcelona.

The info on those three is still scarce even the names are unknown (unless someone reads Japanese). As the insignias suggest all three of them will be part of the MEDIAS lineup.

The first one is a Sony Tablet P lookalike and is advertised as the "Best Cloud Device". The next one is "Large Screen in One-hand" and the last phone is "The Most Stylish". The latter is far from stylish, but we'll spare our comments until we get our hands on it.

All three NEC smartphones are LTE-capable and run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. They were presented in a press conference in Japan, but will be showcased at the MWC 2012 in Barcelona. More details are coming for sure next week.

Now this is getting ridiculous - just when one decides to buy an awesome phone he read about yesterday, today comes a rumor about something awesome-er and knocks down yesterday's determination.

Such is the case with the latest rumor, coming out of Korea, that Samsung is almost ready with an Android phone it's been prepping for a while that sports no screen bezel, and might launch it in Q2 or Q3. This coincides with the info we noticed in [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] that Q2 will see Samsung's OLED factory switching to mass production methods for new screen types.


Tentatively named Galaxy B, the source says this phone will have a bezel only to host the earpiece and the camera at the top, no side frame, and no buttons underneath it. We don't have to tell you what this means of course - that Samsung might have finally cracked the code how to cram a 5" display into a 4.3" body, or something of that magnitude.

Samsung certainly has the engineering prowess to pull this off. There’s just a few more days until MWC kicks off, with the first keynotes scheduled for Sunday, and as we’re getting ready for the big show, Samsung has filed four new trademarks that may or may not result in actual devices very soon - the Samsung Galaxy Axiom, Samsung Galaxy Awaken, Samsung Galaxy Heir and Samsung Galaxy Rite.


All of the trademark applications are for “Mobile phones; Smartphones,” and judging by the Galaxy series name we’re looking forward to more Android handsets.


The company has filed for the trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) less than a week ago.

It’s a busy day over at NVIDIA. In addition to [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] , NVIDIA is also embarking on a joint endeavor with GCT Semiconductor and Renesas Mobile to develop LTE modems for the Tegra 3 mobile processors.

NVIDIA says it wants to “push the envelope on the overall mobile experience. Through fast data access offered by LTE, users get even better multiplayer gaming options, lightning fast web browsing, supercharged app downloads… and the list goes on and on.”

When combining these two technologies, the possibilities go way beyond gaming and could possibly bring desktop-like experiences to mobile platforms. Based on NVIDIA’s past success in the PC market, we know NVIDIA is no slouch, therefore we expect great things.

NVIDIA is also encouraging MWC participants to stop its partners’ booths to see the latest, so hopefully we’ll get a sneak peek at what they’ve been cooking up.

We got a little disappointed when Samsung [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this month. [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] , however, turned out to be true, and Samsung will indeed hold a separate press event on March 15 in Amsterdam.

The image above represents the invitation Samsung is sending out for the event in question. As usual, the image doesn't reveal much, but the "Samsung Line-up 2012" sign at the top and bottom are enough to get our wish-wheel spinning.
Could Samsung be announcing the eagerly-awaited by every Android fan Galaxy S III or will this be sort of a warm-up event to show off some of the mid-range products Sammy has prepared for this year?
At this point all that we could do is just guess, although an early spring announcement of the S III will give the Koreans plenty of time for, say, a summer launch.
We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, you may want to stick around for our in-depth MWC 2012 coverage starting this Sunday.

It was really just a matter of time before this happened, but this seems like the most official thing we've seen to show that Sony and Ericsson really are no longer Sony Ericsson anymore after Sony bought out Ericsson. The buyout was completed [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] and Sony is already moving on to promote its new solo venture.

So, as of today, if you try to go to SonyEricsson.com, you will be automatically forwarded to the SonyMobile.com website. The site looks right at home in the Sony family of websites and should have all of the info that you would expect/want. Word has it that Sony is also planning to retire the @SonyEricsson Twitter handle in favor of @SonyXperia, but as yet @SonyXperia is still just an egg.

South African carriers have spilled the beans on the expected launch date for the hotly anticipated [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] flagship handset on their networks, and the consensus seems to be some time in early Q3.

It all started with MTN's spokesperson saying that the carrier will offer the Galaxy S III in lieu of the [ برای مشاهده لینک ، با نام کاربری خود وارد شوید یا ثبت نام کنید ] , but didn't divulge the expected launch timeframe.


Virgin Mobile chimed in, though, saying that it hopes to have the Samsung Galaxy S III on the shelves some time in Q3, after all the testing has been done, while Cell C straight out confirmed it will probably be already carrying Samsung's finest in July. "No pricing is available yet but it is likely to come in where the SGS2 was priced at launch,” Virgin Mobile spokesperson Jonathan Newman said.


If these summertime hints indicate the global rollout plans, that seems like quite a wait for probably the most anticipated Android handset this year. Hopefully it also means that the summer will see its US rollout too, as Samsung is said to try and narrow the months-long launch gap between US and the rest of the world this year. The LG Optimus series have brought us awesome Android devices starting with the low-end Optimus One to high-end kickers like the Optimus 2X, but as LG is getting ready to turn a new page in its history, the company has decided to change the logo of the series.


The new logo is “designed to accentuate the metallic edges and slim shape of the 2012 smartphone line-up.” It also remains simplistic, as LG is striving to be in its smartphones and we’re curious to see what it will look like once it gets unveiled at MWC.


The Korean phone maker is expected to bring its latest smartphones along with the logo at the end of February, and we’ll be on the showroom floor in Barcelona, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out the press release below for LG's take on the new logo.
